Urgh, little one been up vomiting for about an hour. She’s had a little cough so initially thought it was related as it’s very mucusy. Starting to get worried it’s a stomach problem now though, which is a bloody nightmare

😒 it's hard when they're that age. On the plus side, they shrug things off quite quickly, so fingers crossed it settles soon.

Yeah sure she’ll be fine. Got so much on at work though, could really do without it! Oh well.
How’s you and the fam coping with covid dougs?

Kids are fine cheers. Me and the wife are still basically in bed - definitely getting better but it's quite slow going. Any kind of exertion (making a cuppa) sends my heart rate through the roof, and makes me breathless. And the brain fog is real! Simple tasks seem really challenging. And I'm in better shape than the Mrs so am on kid duty most of the time too. They are relatively self-sufficient bar feeding but are bored senseless. I'm taking today off too and hope to be better tomorrow.

Had this Friday before last with our little girl. My wife and son came down with it 4 days later and then me 3 days after that, thought I'd dodged it. Was also our first taste of what something like gastroenteritis does to our son's glucose levels since being diagnosed with diabetes. Absolute nightmare. One of the hardest things about having small children is not being able to take a time out when we're ill. I had to do the school runs last Friday inbetween bouts of dry heaving bile into the loo. Lovely.

Having to deal with kids at the same time is a bloody nightmare. Not sure where she would have picked up something like that though. She's not really been anywhere last week or so. There seems to a be a lot of nasty stuff around this year. Consequence of being locked down for so long then suddenly all together again maybe. Either way it sucks. I'm hoping the other two can avoid it. The vomiting was pretty much restricted to our bedroom (we're about 4 - 5 hours since the last bout so hopefully she is done) so I'll keep them out of there and try to keep their distance from the kid for a while. My fear is it hits me when at work or on the train. Meant to be going into London tomorrow, don't really fancy that at all.

Nightmare Dougs. My 2 youngest had it about a year ago, but no real symptoms, just shut them in their rooms Daughter got an Xbox out of it, I felt sorry for her... I think we both had it last March, but it was the original more weedy version. We both have underlying issues, but had it mild. Probably, no testing then. Hope you are all through the worst of it, but keep an eye on yourselves. I think you can be worse than you feel.

We think we both had it last March too and this variant definitely gives you a bit more of a kicking. In many ways it's demystified it to a degree. It's nasty but we've managed. Not in a hurry to catch it again though, I have to admit.

We need a more infectious but less harmful strain to develop. I think that's what's happened in the past with coronaviruses that are endemic now (essentially just colds). Having our super-interconnected world is the big difference, it's able to spread globally while still nasty.

Wee man back at school today after nearly 2 weeks off with Covid. He was so nervous about going back. His self confidence was at an all time low even before he got this, and now the isolating away from his class has made him feel even worse. I really hope he has a good day.

Youngest (8) had a go at his hair on Sunday morning (again), he has no fringe left and a massive bald spot on one temple. He looks like a Nazis experiment the muppet.

As I said in the "bald" thread, I went to trim my hair, while way too tired over the weekend and picked up the wrong guard. Light purple is apparently grade 2 and I meant to pick up dark purple which is a grade 6. I can see my skin shining throw what is left of my hair now as I had no other choice but to do a grade 2 all over (with grade 1 to cut in). I've never had so short hair.
Kidswise, I got annoyed with my eldest who wouldn't take "no" for an answer. They kept answering back even after I'd said to pack it in and do as they are told. When I said "I'm no longer listening" after they continued, they carried on until I finally snapped and told them to shut up. At that point my wife jumped in (finally) and had a go at me for losing my patience. Apparently I should have just sat there and taken all the backchat.

My youngest (9 now) had a period of cutting his hair when he was 8. He's still at it from time to time to get the hair out of his eyes.

My middle child (10) has a haircut that's long-ish at the front. When he first got it, he was spiking it up with a bit of gel, which looked fine. More recently he's taken to plastering it to the side across his forehead.
He looks like Hitler youth, and I really don't know how to broach it with him because he seems to like it.

My nephew was one of those kids who came out looking like he was wearing a wig and his mum immediately started combing it into a side part. My first words on earth to this two week old baby were 'you look like hitler' which, obviously, went down well.

My 11 year old does not give 2 hoots about style and fashion at the moment. He grabs whatever is at the top of his drawer and usually cycles to school so doesn't do much with his hair. Won't last...just hope the mullet phase has passed by the time he does care!

The girl didn’t for ages but has recently become a total weeb and now not only cares about clothes but has started designing her own to go along with all the doll clothes she is making. She well into the ‘doll customisation scene’ (no, me either) so she makes doll clothes and matching accessories for herself.
It’s crazy. We took delivery of a 400 quid doll from Japan last week with 200 quids worth of clothes. Two birthdays and one Christmas worth of money gone just like that. It’s made me feel well old. It’s the first thing of hers I properly don’t get.

That a hobby that I didn't know existed! I've got a niece who is super-crafty and would love that sort of thing. Perhaps not weeb enough yet though.
My youngest is all about what she's wearing etc. She might get it a bit wrong at times but she knows what she likes. She wants to go full on punk-goth when she's older, and it'll suit her down to the ground given her facial differences. Lean in to being different imo.

Fuck sake. After a day clear of vomit, the youngest is throwing up again. Thought she was all clear so was preparing ourselves and the other two for what might be to come. Don’t think we are going to escape this one unfortunately. It’s weird for it to stop for so long and start again though

Just the one bout at about 10:30. Still not herself today. Wonder if it may be some sort of infection (throat, ear, tonsillitis etc.) causing it but they usually get a temperature with that which she doesn’t have.
Gave her some calpol and she seems to have perked up a bit so see how we go.
TMI coming up - it’s not really projectile vomit like you get with stomach flu and it’s only coming out the one end. Whatever it is hopefully she is over the worst of it .

It is funny (or not). I dont think the girl got ill at all last year but this year, sans masks, its like 12 months worth of pent up bacteria just exploded over her school. She now has a cold AND an ear infection.

That's what happened to my boy as well. Got the worst cold I've probably seen him have, all LFT and PCR came back negative, chesty cough, felt like shit, he said it was like he was having a constant out of body experience, limb pain, the works. Lasted best part of three weeks. Week after that, doing one of our random LFT at home and we get a postive, so in he goes for a PCR, postive. Then I get his cold, do a PCR, negative but I swear I've never felt so shit as I did a couple of weeks back. Seemingly it is to do with the fact we've not really been giving each other anything much at all over the last 12 - 18 months and now there's more mingling than ever, everything is coming at once.

Yeah so much nasty stuff going around this year.
Was nice last year not having to worry about them constantly bringing stuff home. Obviously making up for it this year. Hope all are ok!

This is weird. No vomiting since the bout about this time last night. Then again tonight. Fine after naps in day as well.
Seemed much better today and now in a bad way again. Very strange.
Might have to call dr in the morning, not sure they’ll see her though.

That is odd - is it after a certain feed or something?

Might have to call dr in the morning, not sure they’ll see her though. That’s exactly what we had for a week. Would throw up one night every half hour, be better in the day and then throw up again at night. No idea what it was but it passed after about 6 days.
