The girl didn’t for ages but has recently become a total weeb and now not only cares about clothes but has started designing her own to go along with all the doll clothes she is making. She well into the ‘doll customisation scene’ (no, me either) so she makes doll clothes and matching accessories for herself. It’s crazy. We took delivery of a 400 quid doll from Japan last week with 200 quids worth of clothes. Two birthdays and one Christmas worth of money gone just like that. It’s made me feel well old. It’s the first thing of hers I properly don’t get. £5 says that Japanese doll tries to kill you in your sleep.

Youngest here also had 2 nights in a row of chucking up a while back, fine in the day and no other symptoms

Could be something going round then. Did it get passed onto any other kids / parents?

The oldest (5) threw up once a few days later but that was it, she was fine 10 minutes later. I don’t think it was connected, no one else had anything.
I can’t wait until the semi regular throwing up age passes.

Strange. Hopefully she is done for the night now.
May call dr in morning anyway but they don’t like seeing you for this kind of thing.
Thanks guys, at least I know she’s not alone in having it.

I can’t wait until the semi regular throwing up age passes. Oh god yes, our boy used to spew every time he had a bad cold. I don't miss those days at all. After a while we could tell when the coughing was heading to the levels where a puke was imminent.

£5 says that Japanese doll tries to kill you in your sleep. For 400 quid I would expect it to arrange my funeral afterwards.

I can think of a few forum members who would’ve spent way more on a specialist Japanese doll etc

Bad night last night and she’s in a bad way this morning. Her belly empty now so just bringing up bile. Poor kid. Going to see if the dr will see her today.

Vortex my son is exactly the same - cough or temperature, he's gonna vom. It's just far less frequent now he's older. Thankfully, it's very rare now. As you say, gets less as they get older, but when he was between 2-8 or so... yeesh. I can still get flashbacks to the smell and *texture* of the slimy puke on the jammies, sheets and pillow i had to wipe down and rinse before washing them while the missus changed sheets, comforted him and put him back to bed. Have kids they say, it'll be fun they say!

That’s been us last 3 nights. The smell is horrible. Got an appointment later today. Could be a throat infection or something similar. Strange there is no high temperature though. Just thought we must be really off putting new parents and parents to be. I’ll stop now

That's a shame Rob. I always feel sorry for them when they're sick as it's so distressing for them. Hopefully get to the bottom of what's causing it.
That's something I don't miss. The nights full of vomit, sending them back to bed with towels and basins around them, just waiting for when it happens again.

Yeah I don’t want to wish their lives away, but I’m looking forward to when they are a bit older and this is less common!

The boy has now earned two detentions in three weeks, both in RE. I fear my absolute dismissal of religion may have rubbed off in ways I didn't foresee.

The eldest Autie is obsessed with the states of America. She is classed as non verbal but whenever you try and talk to her she just randomly spouts states at you. At the moment she seems to be shouting "WISCONSIN" My youngest is now 7 and truly is non verbal. She hasn't spoken a word yet

That sounds rough Addy, you're a superstar parent and don't forget it Just back from the doctors. She thinks it may be an ear infection as her ears were very red, or possibly a urine infection as that can also cause vomiting. Most likely ear as she does have a sore throat as well. Got antibiotics for the ear infection but need to take a urine sample in to rule that out. She's been asleep most of the day and really not herself so thought it must be some kind of infection. Fingers crossed for a better night tonight! Bloody kids!

My youngest has had a couple of urine infections, they wipe her out. good luck getting that sample, need the patience of a Saint to get a toddler pissing in the pot, especially when they’re too scared to do a burning wee 😬

They've given us some pads to put in her nappy (she's only just turned 2), so should be fine. She seems to have perked up a little which is good. Should get 2 doses of antibiotics into her before bed so hopefully better tomorrow (assuming its the ear not urine as that is a different AB).

Thrush is the other one that becomes problematic as they got older - youngest went through a lot of that when in pull ups (esp night only) and still does now.

The girl used to get them all the time. Trial and error showed it was probably product, either bubble bath or body wash in the bath that caused it. More or less stopped entirely when we went back to just water.

I can only sympathise, my step-daughter is 16 and has had services involved for her autism since pretty much day 1, it's hard enough when they can at least express some of their frustration and confusion. No idea how I'd manage if they couldn't do that. I've only been involved for two years, it's been a crash-course to say the least. My brother's lad is on the scale, verbal, but it wasn't really picked up on until he started doing that thing of getting absolutely immersed in something to the detriment of absolutely everything else. He handed me a Japanese phrasebook for beginners once, 'for when he goes to work for Nintendo in Japan, and I go and visit'. Just for laughs, I wrote out a few of them and asked him to translate. He'd only memorised the entire thing, English, the Japanese as written, and the basic pronunciation. He's just started High, and was sent home two days out of the first three because the change of it all scared this shit out of hi and he was having panic attacks, so there's the massive worry that he's already marked out as 'different'.

Yeah, my friend has two autistic kids. One has just been kicked out of school for constantly biting and the other has been skipped at least one, maybe two school years.
He's absolutely astonishing. I was talking to him at my mates wedding, he must have been like 6 or 7 and he had some pokemon cards. I said that I like pokemon and had just finished lets go evee. He then rattled off all 151 original pokemon in order with no pause.

Neurodiversity really gives an insight in to how little we understand about how the mind works.

Honestly she is so funny. We woke her up this morning and as soon as she opened her eyes she looked at me and said "ALASKA" lol it's like it's constantly on her mind. It is quite amazing how their brains work. Your nephew with his Japanese is just one great example of it. My eldest seems to know all the states now. This is moving on from pretty much being able to name any country when you show her it's flag. The high school situation must be hard. We were lucky in the sense ours were diagnosed before they even went to preschool so they never had to go through trauma of main stream and struggling. They will stay at their 'specialist' school until they're nineteen.
