In other news, our tool of a seventeen year old, still can't get up in time for school when he has free periods at the start of the day. Yet another email asking where he is today. How is he going to cope next year if he goes away to university ffs. Rocket up the arse again for him tonight. May have to resort to getting him up before we leave the house at this rate! We had to leave this morning before the eldest had to go to school. He managed to leave on time (because we'd got him up...) but forgot to lock the front door, despite may reminders! Luckily he remembered and we got a neighbour to sort. eejit

Well, that's the lad passed his theory test and can now get his driving test booked.
Beware if you're ever on the roads up here!
Main worry now is when he announces they are off out to macdonalds etc late at night at the weekend and a car load of his mates rolls up.
The worries never cease do they, they just change...

Nope. And at some point, you just have to let them get on with it. I think nature is amazing - by the time they're 18-22/23, you're sick of the fuckers!
Edit: congrats to him though! How much are lessons these days?

My poor youngest. Looks like she's got to wear a back brace (20.hours a day) for a few years because of scoliosis. Was spotted earlier this year - referred to children's orthopaedics in Southampton. Consultant said it's mild at the moment but want to try and correct it as much as possible before the growth spurts. She's handling it like a champion, taking it all in her stride. Proper trooper. Just saw this Dougs - sorry to hear it but super-impressed that your girl is taking it so well. Kids can be crazy brave sometimes and it seems your daughter is reinforcing that maxim - as you say - like a trooper.

Cheers mate. There will of course be tears as she gets used to it, but given she's a bit prone to histrionics over a small cut or bump, it's amazing how well she handles the bigger stuff. It's got 4 degrees worse since Jan so def time to try and nip it in the bud.

Was the same for me in 90/91. Adjusted for inflation, that's £25. Wankers. (I know there will be other costs, no least insurance. But still)

There’s a whole thread for it somewhere! Need to get myself done so can ‘bother’ the wife without any unintended consequences.

I just had a call from the school, my youngest (year 7) apparently got his leg stuck in a tree root and had to be rescued by several teachers, could I take in some paracetamol for him! He's such a muppet!

I’m not sure paracetamol will do anything for that

Fuck. The boy's rowing coach has been on the phone saying he felt and heard a "pop" in his calf whilst rowing training and he's in agony. I hope he's not torn it.
