Yeah really sorry to hear this eleven63 and wishing you all the best. In my household we had a cancer scare recently that turned out to be nothing, thank goodness, but even that led to 3 weeks of sleepless nights and anxiety. Hope your situation is one you can look back on with relief too, even if it takes a bit longer.

Always tried to avoid this thread, as it's been an ongoing battle for a few years, but now my dear old mum is in a hospice. It's the best place for her, as it's a lovely environment. I only really got over my dad who passed away 5 years ago.. but we all know the world can be fucking shit. But.. I know he's waiting for her up there... probably waiting for his dinner ha. Anyway if I disappear it'll be for some headspace.. seeing as I'm somewhat a 'regular'.

That's a sad story sorry dude. Try and take some comfort from the hospice process if you can - it is the best place for you all at the moment.

My condolences zisssou. Keep her company as much as you can and stay strong for your family. And by all means take some time off from here if you need it, just remember you've got a lot of people here that would love to see you back FCUTA

Work colleague passed away yesterday, lung cancer, 50. Non-smoking teetotal vegan, and a truly lovely person. Fuck cancer.

Mum passed away on Sunday peacefully. It’s been one of the hardest weeks I’ve had. When my dad passed away I still had my mum to lean onto. Of course I have my partner and my siblings to lean onto, but for me my parents were always the ever present. Waking up everyday and going well I can’t talk to her anymore..
Anyway I’ve dug out my PS2. For some reason nostalgia helps. Also randomly buying old games I used to own..

I’m sorry zisssou. I can only recommend to do whatever it takes to get through the first few weeks. The hardest thing for me was forgetting the bad stuff at the end and focusing on all the good memories. It tends to be the first and last thing you think about every day, which gets mentally exhausting, so if that PS2 helps you think about nothing, even for a short while, that’s a good thing.
