Space I'm glad there has been some small relief from the drain, and I'm glad you're still at home to spend some time with friends and family.
You've been an inspiration truly, and like everyone else here I have been rooting for you and yours.

Hi Everyone, it's Kate here, Chris' wife. I wanted to let you all know our news. Chris died last night at 6.35pm. He suffered for a really long time as you know, but at the end it was peaceful and I was holding his hand and his parents were there when he passed. I just want to say how grateful I am to you all for being his support network. He loved this website and the community you have all forged on here was very special to him. As you all have seemed to have figured out Chris was a very special individual who gave so much of his life to others. The girls and I will learn to live without him eventually, but it will be made a little easier due to what he taught us. Thank you all. I hope you don't mind if I include this link below... Marie Curie Rapid Reponse made it possible for Chris to die at home which is what he always wanted. They kept him out of pain etc as much as possible and it's only right we raise money in his memory to make sure other families have the same. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kate-waller9

kate, i've been dreading this day and this post and kudos to you for letting us know so soon after
chris made a huge impact here as you can see from the many posts from all of us respecting & admiring his love for his family and his strength and character in dealing with this horrible disease - a true measure of the man he was and a fine example to us all
i lost my wife to metastatic kidney cancer to the liver in october 2020 and i can empathise completely with everything you're currently experiencing - please do feel free to message me if you feel i can help in any way with anything, even if it's just to let off steam about the unfairness of it all
much love & hugs to you and the girls - i rarely drink these days but will raise a glass of my finest whisky tonight in memory of chris
take care and thank you again for letting us know

Thank you for letting us know - we will miss Chris and he made a big impact to those of us who didn't know him at RPS. His generosity, strength of character, his approach to this awful disease and love for his family was frankly remarkable.
More than happy to donate in his memory. Not sure what a bunch of geeks can do beyond that, but if there is anything, please do shout!

He was a strong dude who loved you and the kids a lot, remember that, and hopefully it helps also knowing people here thought he was a good guy. Nothing I say will make it better for you but there's a lot of people here who have gone through similar so the thread is always here for you too if you ever need it. Sorry for you loss.

Kate
Chris had a lot of friends here. I think I speak for all of us when I say that we’re glad you have found both the time and strength to let us know.
What you have ahead of you will be unique, but it seems that Chris did his very best to prepare you all.
Nothing about this is easy. I don’t have much more to say now, other than for you to add me to the list of people who lost their spouse at too young an age, and if you want to talk, I’m here.
I wish you peace and growing comfort in the time to come.

Chris' strength and the way he approached all this was honestly eye opening. I'm very glad to have known him, even if only for a short time through this forum, as is everyone else I'm sure. He will be sorely missed. Thank you so much for letting us know, lots of love to you and your family. May he rest in peace

Whilst we knew it was coming it still hurts.
I hope you all get some peace soon and grow together happily and content in the way Chris would have wanted.

Thank you so much for sharing the news so soon. Can't really say anything that hasn't been said already. You sound like a fittingly amazing family to go with the awesome individual that Chris seemed to be. He's been a true inspiration even in the short time some of us have known him.

Kate,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know here at a time that must be so difficult for you. Chris' candid updates in here, his honesty and strength have been an absolute inspiration, as well as his humour when fighting this awful disease, and I am so very sorry for your loss. As ever in times like these I am at a loss for words, but know that he'll be greatly missed.
Sending all my love to you all.

Hi Kate,
I had actually been dreading seeing your name appear here. Knew it was approaching having not seen any activity on Chris's account over the past few weeks when I checked.
How well can you know someone on a forum for a year or so? Not very, but as other have said his frank posts and admissions and sharing of his life made a real change to mine, and I am sure others around here.
Cheers Chris, Kate and your family.

Hi Kate,
Like many others here, I've been dreading the day when the thread got bumped with this news, but thanks so much for taking the time to let us all know.
My fellow posters have already expressed everything I'm thinking and feeling, so I'll keep this brief - Chris was a great guy, and a model of bravery in the face of dreadful circumstances. We'll miss him.
I'm ever so sorry for your loss. Much love to you and the girls.

Although it was via an internet forum it was clear Chris was a great guy and having the strength to share his battle here was so admirable.
It's such an awful thing to deal with but his battles and posts here helped others. Thank you for letting us know the sad news.

Very sad news, your husband had a wonderfully positive impact on our community despite everything he was going through. I hope that knowing his strength of character provides some small comfort in the times ahead

Chris made such a positive impact on this forum, great guy to chat with and a true inspiration in how he coped with his illness, the love for his family was always the most evident part of his posts in this thread. He'll really be missed.

Chris really made a difference. He made me realise that I need to make the most of every moment with my loved ones, something which is easy to take for granted and is fucking hard at times. He is an inspiration to me, and I never met him. I feel fucking terrible even trying to relate to the pain, but the fact I feel so sad is a testament to the impression Chris made on here.
