I find it hard to believe someone could be engaged with the debate on trans rights, to the extent of making somewhat arbitrary and source-free claims that very much echo TERF talking points, and not know what a TERF is.

There's a pre op trans man at my office. Was a fat ugly butch lesbian, now a fat slightly feminine face looking young man. Started using the men's loos. If you so much as make eye contact with him in the loo, he'll go crying to supervisors accusing you of all sorts.
Also he's from the EU. Came to this country to get a job and an op on the NHS.
Another reason I love working from home.

But again this is muttler, supposedly. I'm a life long listener of Radio 4. I find it calming and soothing. I hear about all sorts of subjects on there. I'm not necessarily "engaged" with all of it. |

I actually think the womens shelter issue is a trickier one. People who are in a place because of traumatic experiences should probably have their wishes respected, even if they don't necessarily make complete logical sense.
But again, it's such an edge case that I don't know why people would zero in on it.

It's becoming common for male prisoners to convince their psychiatrists that they want to be a woman and known as a woman, while either retaining a penis or stating that they intend to have surgery at a later date. If the psychiatrist decides they're genuine then they have to accommodate their wishes or it's an infraction of the prisoner's human rights to keep him in a male prison. As soon as he gets into the female prison of course, he assaults the female prisoners. Sources? |

I had a trip with a full car a few years ago, 3 women, me and a trans man who was not far into it and only about 20 yr old. Stopped at the services and just assumed they would be heading for the same toilets as me and got to see one of the happiest people ever when I just said they are with me and headed off chatting.
From the only person I have got to know in that situation (FtM) its a terrifying thing to do, wasnt until I seen them again a month later did they mention it to me, I just assumed.

I think what gets massively overlooked with the "Women's shelter issue" is that women's shelters have been trans friendly for years and they are extremely well adapted to not everyone at the shelter being comfortable with other people also at the shelter for any reason.It's one of those things that gets up as a point of concern by people who don't work at women's shelters.

Well Mick Hucknall did ok certainly.
Gingerism was the only -ism in any way prevalent in the old place, will be interesting to see how it is treated here. Perhaps the pale, creepy, vaguely translucent gingers among us will finally be accepted in normal society.
