Take back my earlier comments about the male V voice acting. Him saying "Welp" broke me last night. Started a new playthrough as Miss V (still Street Kid) and it made me realise how much I was just tolerating it. My enjoyment of the game has gone up significantly Fair play to anyone who likes it, but I would say if you don't like it after the prologue, it's unlikely to grow on you I also discovered V's voice actress also did Gaige in Borderlands 2/3 (cool). Clap Trap would have been a better choice for male V I've ditched the non-lethal thing as well, as it just wasn't as much fun. There's nothing wrong with it - I just really enjoy the combat and found it too restrictive. It's interesting how just choosing the Street Kid path is making me play a different, more hotheaded V (Royce didn't survive negotiations) Going to have to do Nomad after

Trying a melee focused build. Wanted to go gorrila arms but acquiring Saburo's knife and sword in the heist is making me reconsider, maybe I should go ninja. I'll need points in Body and Reflex anyway so can always play about a bit.

All of the others have something that sounds useful in some way. Last time I got 3 stats maxed, with another at 18 I think, so plenty of points to go around. Just wondering what to prioritise early on

Aunt AlisonI'm thinking Tech is quite useful, makes it easier to equip more cyberware, and can increase duration of cyberware effects like Sandi or Berserk, which could be useful with melee.

It's looking as though I won't be getting release date delivery for this after all, as Amazon's still saying that my copy will arrive on Wednesday. Boo!
Oh, well - it should allow me to finish Tactica in the meantime.

That's my thinking. I'd also quite like the dash as well - charging a punch and then dashing forward with it is pretty fun

Ah, the dash is super useful, so Reflex is almost mandatory.
Too many choices!
I'm not normally a fan of talent trees as so many talents are just meaningless padding (including the OG skill trees in 2077), but here the options mostly have tangible effects. The trees are easy to read and whilst some games give more choice, the options here just make for interesting decisions. I like them

Other than the missing apartment memorabilia and some enemies being somehow immune to System Collapse, that is basically a list of everything I've still been noticing, or things I'd wishlisted for ages.
Check. Check.
Nice one, lads.
Yeeeessss.
Nice one.
Honestly, until now I thought that was yet another example of nVidias' weird shaders doing me up the tunnel. Good news on the fix, now El Capitan and Johnny won't occasionally appear to have been replaced by Auton versions of themselves.
I swear sometimes CD Projekt Red are just looking at the popular mods and thinking "Oh yeah. Forgot about that."

I'm disappointed you can't have shiny skin on your character, with all those glossy and metallic people walking around like sexy mannequins. Jealous
The metro will be really useful at the start of Act 2

I'm happy I now get to ride a train around the city and have more sexy sex options. Also get to receive nudes, who doesn't want to receive nudes?

Is melee actually a viable approach in this game?
I thought I'd go down the non-lethal, stealthy hacker route, but that's basically how I played Mankind Divided earlier in the year, so it seems a bit daft to do it again.
I tend to find the first-person perspective pretty disorientating anyway, so first-person melee sounds a tad nauseating; that said, it'd certainly make for a different experience.

I played it through as mostly stealth hacker as I always do with these things. But my it's all gone to hell weapon was a katana with lots of reflex skills for deflecting bullets and dodging.
Worked quite well as usually if I screwed up stealth I was already up close and surrounded.

All the trees with melee options (and hacking) also have skills for guns as well and you can change your skills at any point without penalty (but your stats can only be reset once)
Don't stress too much about a build. If you're worried, don't spend any points at character creation (you don't lose them) and look over the skill trees once you get into the game. You'll be able to play around a bit with things before you need to decide on anything. You don't need to have skills to be able to use weapons, they just add benefits. So punch, shoot and stab some ne'er do wells to see what feels good during the first act (and as said, you can always respec once, at any time)
The NCPD quests are basically filler, so enable them on the map and go to town

Very much so, especially with the new movement perks in Reflexes and things like Berserk and bullet deflection (for blades). I went full street samurai on my recent playthrough and a lot of the time I don't even carry a gun.

I would even go as far as saying that ninja skills with a katana is OP as fuck and kinda breaks the game when you add the middle health skill tree to it. So effectively you're a tank who can deflect bullets, do infinite air dashes and whose 2nd hit is always a crit. So much fun.

I have now seen how two different consequences of betraying Songbird play out in the end.
They both branch off from a choice you make when you:
Locate Songbird at the abandoned Cynosure facility she flees to after escaping from MaxTac custody.
At this point:
When you reach her, she is in a terrible state, having been almost completely subsumed by the Rogue AIs from beyond the Blackwall. She doesn't have the strength to end her life the way she wants to, and begs V to do it for her.
Two paths can then branch off from this choice:
If you show her mercy and end her life, V is distraught and Reed is broken. V and Reed remove her body from the facility, and drive with it through the border check point south of Night City, where President Myers arrives to take posession of Song's remains. Myers is furious that you didn't bring Song in alive as ordered, refuses to grant V the medical help for the Relic that was promised, coldly transfers you the miserly sum of 5000 eddies as payment for the entirety of the events of Phantom Liberty, then fucks off into the sky with Songbirds' remains to experiment on. Reed tells you to go back to Night City, then walks off into the desert. At thois point, your only option is to proceed to Meet Hanako At Embers and do one of the main game endings.
The other way this could play out, is:
Refuse to grant Songbird her wish for death, and when Reed arrives the two of you carry her across the border, barely alive and unresponsive. President Myers arrives, a team of surgeons carry Songbird off to Langley, and Myers offers V a medal of honour from the NUSA that V can accept or decline. Sometime later in NC, Reed calls and tells V that the Relic surgery has been arranged. If you take him up on it, a new ending and epilogue play out, which goes almost as depressing as the Suicide ending.
The events that ensue at this point lead to the "A Face In The Crowd" ending. Fuck me, I was not expecting it to get as dark as it does, and not just for V.
The surgery successfully removes Johnny and the Relic, but V falls into a coma and doesn't wake up for two years. The damage to V's nervous system has caused their body to be unable to cope with combat cyberware, on pain of death, and they are now as basic as possible. Everybody V knew has moved on in their lives, most of them unhappily so (Judy is an exception - living in Pittsburgh with her new wife). There seems to be a heavier Militech presence on the streets. Viktor invites V to come see him for a check-up, and when you get there, Vik and the clinic are now under employ by ZetaTech after Vik eventually caved to their pressure and threats, and Misty's Esoterica has shut down. Vik is clearly depressed, chafing at the corpo restrictions and the absence of Misty after they've had a falling out. After leaving the clinic, V is mugged in an alley by two goons and unable to defend against them because of the cyberware problem, and dropping Padre's name as a form of protection does nothing to help because apparently he has "lost Heywood". After the assault, Misty happens to come by and picks V up off the floor. She is almost unrecognisable, new haircut and wearing Jackies' old jacket, and a smoker now with a more jaded outlook on life. After a conversation with her about people moving on, she gets into a car for the airport, and leaves Night City. Over the end credits, I got a message from Mitch to say Panam had no desire to communicate and warning him not to try, so that romance is effectively dead. Vik also messages to say ZetaTech are transferring him to a different city while his clinic is renovated. V has won the rest of their life back, but is now friendless and alone, to be swallowed up by the crowd in anonymity.
Video of someone elses' version of this one:

This update is dropping today, yeah? I recently got back into my original save from launch; upgraded my GPU so can now enjoy all the RT goodness etc. (DLSS + Frame Gen really does feel like a game changer performance wise, coming from a 1080 TI).
I've re-jigged my build now after getting the free reset (assault rifle focus, for preference), got my Psalm 11:6 and Moron Labe, with an Errata katana as my "Oh Shit!" melee option. The transmog feature has also enabled me to look considerably cooler than I did previously.
Anyway, a few queries: is gear/armour effectively just cosmetic now, aside from the odd passive stat increase? Hanako is chilling at Embers in my save, which I recall is the PONR: can I safely update this to 2.1 and then pick up Phantom Liberty, do all that shit, and then finish off the MQ? Assume there's no end-game state to this, and the idea is to do new playthroughs?
Fuck me, it looks glorious these days. Incredible world to walk and drive about in. Can see the DLC being my late-night, whisky-fueled gaming obsession over Christmas at this rate.

Cheers, everyone.
Turns out my copy is due to arrive today after all, which is nice! Hopefully I'll have time to install it, download the latest patch, and redeem my Phantom Liberty code before the evening rolls around.
I've got to say, I'm really looking forward to this.

You can respec your existing character with the new skill tree system, Phantom Liberty can be put off until all other missions are exhausted besides the Meet Hanako At Embers one. Clothing is basically exactly that now. None of it has any mod slots any longer, and can no longer be crafted.
