I think what happened was, devs had a hard time justifying the cost to build brilliant, branching content because most players would never see all of it. So Bethesda took the approach of making all content available, and most players will never see all of it, because it’s beige shit.

Yeah, true I guess.
I wonder if AI improves in the future and the cost of producing content goes down if we'll then get branching games back again. I mean, the only reason why classic Fallouts / Morrowind were able to pull that stuff off was because you only needed to write the dialogue, instead of recording and animating it all. Maybe if we get voice synthesis and automatic body animations working then devs could implement more content instead of that strict linear narrative.

Yeah, I watched the first half of the anime last night, and aside from the school in the first episode, I recognized every place. You do really get the impression that it was a collaboration between CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger. They really feel as if they're a part of the same world.

Finished the anime a couple of nights ago. It was excellent, in case anyone was curious.
Also gone back to my Xbox playthrough. Doing some of the cyberpsycho hunts, which I didn't really focus on on PS5. Some of them are pretty fun puzzles, though others are just hardasses to fight, that after I text Regina telling her they're alive, I go and doubletap the head out of spite. Hope it doesn't ruin the ending. 👀

Yeah, the fate of the CyberPsychos was a bit of a point of contention for me on my first playthrough. There was absolutely no way they should have "survived" having multiple clips emptied into them while their bodies were burning from the inside out thanks to Overheat.

I took them down with a "non lethal" shotgun, however that's supposed to work.

In my current playthrough, just about EVERYBODY's going down easy to Gorilla Arms. The only ones that aren't are the ones in the mechsuits with the charge rifles.
A lot (again, except for the mech psychos) are susceptible to distractions and non-lethal choke outs too though.

Oh, that's one thing I've noticed in contrast to the original tabletop game: there's literally no down sides to chroming yourself up. In the TT RPG you had empathy score that went down with the amount of cyberware you got. More invasive - bigger loss of humanity.
In general there's very few dialogue options to solve issues. For a really cool RPG it would be interesting to have almost anything solvable with talking, assuming you've specced enough into it. A pure flesh pacifists run would be fun.

The dialogue options were one of the major areas where your Life Path choice should have come up a lot more. Off the top of my head, I can only think of half a dozen instances of it even being a thing, and they were all relatively early on in the game (Tuning Jackie's Arch bike, for example).

That would definitely make sense if the game allowed you to make yourself a total freak, like that early gang who are basically horror movie monsters. I don’t think there’s much in the game by way of persuasion or disposition anyway.

The game allows insane amount of cyberware: subdermal armour, optical camo on top of skin, replace both arms with gorilla arms, lynx paws, berserk booster, second heart, new lungs, stronger bones, cyber eyes, the list goes on and on.
I think you would be looking and feeling like a total freak. It's just the visuals and people's reactions don't really reflect what you have installed.

I think those gangers are also deliberately trying to look as fucked up as possible, like being super-heavily tattoed except your face is cut off and full of widgets.

Getting completely sucked into this again. Finished Panam and Judy's storylines. Gonna finish up River's next then move on with the story. Also bought all the apartments just because I hadn't really been spending my cash much. The Glen's is my favorite I think. The Corpo Plaza one is kind of disappointing.

Picked this up again since the patch. Only just met Keanu 🥴 Same here. Be good to get out of the starting area, I've run out of things to do. I am level 19 now though.

Gonna finish up River's next then move on with the story. Man, River is such a drag. I hate that I can't tell him to just fuck off. Jesus he's a wet blanket. So I'm on my second playthrough. The first time around I played nice. This time it's all murder, murder, murder and I intend to run beyond Blackwall. I'm positively surprised by how many voiced gigs there are, and I'm really noticing how the quest givers come back to you a day later with a bit of feedback. Makes it feel really good.

I have no idea how I managed that redneck shooting contest in Stadium Love on my first playthrough. Pretty sure I just reloaded my save until I got it. Didn't have the patience this time, so just finished in third place and jetted.
I feel like El Padre contacted me much more with gigs the first time around.

I missed Flaming Crotch Man on my first playthrough. He was the first side gig I did. Second was Skippy. I started strong. My current favourite is Brandon the Scism.

So I'm about 35 hours in, albeit I imagine that's a slow 35. Is it me or are the mantis blades pretty shit? Like, you'd expect them to wreck people they are so massive looking, but they feel more like butter knives when you actually slice people with them.
Playing on Hard, so wondering if it's to do with that, or I'm not levelled enough, or they are just shit.

Could be that they've been nerfed since launch, but I had them on my first playthrough and I ripped everything to shreds. Katanas are equally OP.
Although now that I'm going Gorilla Arms, it's kind of hilarious how fast non-mechsuit enemies get bludgeoned.

Tomo Probably a silly question, but do you have a lot of points in the Blades skill tree? They scale along with that and might be weak without. Also bought all the apartments just because I hadn't really been spending my cash much. The Glen's is my favorite I think. The Corpo Plaza one is kind of disappointing. My possibly-giving-them-too-much-credit take is that it's supposed to be disappointing. You bust your ass earning enough blood money for the luxe apartment and it's a tiny bachelor pad with a crap view. Struck me as on-theme.

Like, you'd expect them to wreck people they are so massive looking, but they feel more like butter knives when you actually slice people with them. Playing on Hard, so wondering if it's to do with that, or I'm not levelled enough, or they are just shit. I've been playing with 3 mods that change combat to be less levelled: Ped Damage Overhaul 2077 www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/5066?tab=descriptionBasically makes it so that headshots actually do something. It's very, very satisfying with katanas, for example. You get a good power attack in and that head is coming off. Damage Floor www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/5161?tab=descriptionFixes some of the bad levelling code and makes guns always do some damage. It's a personal pet peeve of mine in RPGs where later on your early weapons do practically nothing. It's weird and unrealistic. Auto Scaling Weapons and Armor www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/1850?tab=descriptionRemoves the need to keep upgrading your weapons and armour. The item level is like a hidden stat and I don't like it. How can two identical knives do different amounts of damage? How can one knife do 3 times as much damage as another knife you found early on? Yeah, no, that's just nonsense. With those 3 mods humans feel like humans, pretty much. (Mech suits are just broken in the game. Crits aren't happening right against the mech suit pilot.) The downside is that you can no longer stack armour into the thousands. You'll always die from a couple of body shots. For melee Sandevistan and optical camo are pretty much mandatory. But once you get into range it's chop-chop time.

Thanks. I was looking up mods similar to these last night but didn't see those ones. Cheers.
Yeah, the bullet sponge enemies aren't great.

Without mods, is it possible to walk around the bases effectively one-tapping everyone? That's basically what I was expecting. Pirouetting through levels stealthily cutting people into ribbons. Or is it usually a couple of hits with the alarms raised?
