Just replaying it. Forgot how much I liked Takemura, corpo rat that he is. So many good characters in this game. I genuinely think it's one the best written games I've ever played. my biggest regret in my first playthrough is that I didn't save Takemura. I just ran and only found out he could be saved much later. I didn't even try to save him I'll rectify that on this play through.

I don't know if DLSS is having a 'mare on this, but at 1440 with everything on Ultra, it looks pap outdoors. Indoor environments tend to look better, but sunlight has everything looking blurry and flat. This is pretty much my experience on PC as well (1440p, almost everything cranked to Ultra, but no DLSS). The game can look really cool and atmospheric in interior environments, or at night on the streets, in the market places, or when the weather effects kick in. But it looks bang average (or, in reality, utterly fucking shite) during the day when the sunlight is in play. The texture pop-in is also WAAAAAY more noticeable in the light. Bit of a bummer, really. Makes me only really want to play at night in-game. I am having a good bit of fun with my old save, mind.

I could still see barely any difference between the modes. The ray tracing, surface reflections and diffused shadows and lighting in Cyberpunk are so mild that it's really there for the tech fanboys to wank over, as far as I can see. I mean yeah in the future when it's more pronounced it'll be good, but for now I'm gonna stick with performance mode for the extra frames. I just wanna say that what I meant by this post is that specifically on this game the differences between modes are so small (on the next gen consoles) that it amounts to extra bullet points they can put on the back of the box to help sell the game, rather than meaningful implementation of these technologies. Normally I'd be all over good ray tracing etc, and I really enjoy watching Digital Foundry's verdict and advice for different settings. I'm still hopeful that once the last gen machines are ditched, we'll start to see some really exciting stuff on the new consoles.

So I should go and meet the Japanese chap who saved me first? I just ended up leaving V's apartment and fucking about. That Regina woman who cantacted me near the start of the game - I realised I'd never followed up on that - so I went to visit her and just got a couple of blue dialogue options and nothing else. Was expecting a whole slew of side missions from her. Don't worry too much about which missions to do first. The game tells you at a certain point that it's the point of no return. I managed to be so dense that I didn’t realise that it was the end of the game - I thought it was the end of a chapter. So I accidentally finished the game. Fortunately the game drops you back in prior to the final mission. Most of the best content in the game - including all of the major character arcs - is essentially optional.

Given what happened with these two guys and their whole deal;
I question why I bumped into this guy walking around the city with obvious cybernetic eyes?
Unless he's just a poser.

Note to self, follow the critical path to that diner meeting with Takemura before going off on my own adventures. The game can trigger some interactions with Silverhand that are totally jarring if you haven’t done that scene first.
Gosh it’s been good as a secondary game to Elden Ring though. Easy, stable frame rate.

Got this on disc last year for about £15 when it became a pariah game, Xbox Series X. Played it for a few hours and liked it but felt it was really janky for a last gen game running on X and binned it.
Started it again last night and Performance Mode makes it awesome. Only had a short time with it but now itching to get stuck in.
RT mode does look a few extra per cent better IMO, and it's a tiny actual difference that seems to make a huge perceived difference - but the frame rate doesn't feel anything close to a stable 30 FPS there so Performance it is.
Gun play is still a bit crap.

I found quality mode unplayable on PS5. My brain may have been ruined by playing a bunch of PS4 games in 60fps on the thing in the few months since I bought it.

Probably being dumb, but is there a way of increasing text size on this? I’ve had a look and can’t see an option anywhere.

Sit closer is what I was expecting! I’m only about 8ft away from 50” as it is.
Subtitles are fine, it’s just the rest seems unnecessarily small.

Out of interest...not a slur..How's your eyesight? Not a dig as if someone is low vision games like this need accessibility options.

Eyesight is fine. It’s not that I can’t read it, I would just like it larger ( that’s what she said)
Maybe the 25gb patch today will bring in an option

Thanks for the tip, I'm at that exact point and was just thinking about doing some side stuff before continuing the main story!

Yeah, after hungover breakfast with Tak, you're free to fuck around with side content.

Day one for me on the expansion. Loved the main game even at 20fps on PS4. Glorious.

Picked the PS4 version up for the free upgrade to PS5 and started playing this a week or so ago.
There are still some technical issues and it's crashed once or twice but really enjoying it. A well written story/plot so far (in videogame terms at least) and the world building is top notch. Would definitely be up for some dlc, especially if it's as good as the Witcher dlc.

Replaying it on PS5. It’s still great, however on a second play through I’m noticing some of the basic issues.
Side quests and all the other little stuff is just so disorganised. There’s no clear order or structure, plus they just fill the map up.
Main story is great, world /city is simply staggering, but the side missions need serious motivation to work through them in your own way.

Just bought this today for my XSX since its highly unlikely I'll ever have enough free time to play it on Steam where I originally bought it. Hoping there's viable ways to go through the game without a billion gun fights as I can't aim for shit on a console.
