Just watched the DF. Holy shit, the Series S holds up incredibly well next to the RT modes on PS5 and Series X. Just makes that mode even sillier.

I thought RT was all about better reflections. I can see how the lighting can affect certain scenes for the better, but that DF video makes it look pretty clear that RT is not going to be much of a thing this console generation, until the tech powerhouses get their engines up and running. I think people said we’re years away from seeing anything built from Unreal Engine after that Matrix demo.
In fairness, I guess I should consider that being unable to get RT fully running in your “last gen” game, that never should have been released on “last gen”, might not be a reasonable indicator.

The ray in ray tracing literally means light rays, but shit, even the shadows look worse with RT in this game. I was giving it the benefit of the doubt there but seeing them side by side, shadows in performance look like shadowed objects, shadows in RT mode look like shadowed stickmen. Even if it's a car. But yeah, ray traced reflections are where things feel more "next gen," and if you want GOOD examples of that, play Miles Morales, Ratchet or Doom Eternal.

Shadows and reflection aside, this game is fucking good. Tried to play dying light 2 and after 30 mins fired this up. It shits all over it.

I’ve not touched Dying Light since starting this again. The world is incredible, and the missions are so much better. Got woken up early this morning and I wasn’t even mad, just got up, drank a pot of coffee and played this.
But imagine cyberpunk with parkour!

Dog, that's what I wanted Mirror's Edge Catalyst to be. Shame that shit was boring as hell.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT
I had a tough boxing match with the champ on PS4/5 before the current gen upgrade. Invested all my points in melee this time and took this motherfucker out in 7 seconds. Shame PS4 trophies don't carry over because I'd be happy to continue this for the platinum.

For sure. And lest we forget, 4A managed this perfectly well with Metro Exodus: a full raytracing pipeline even on the consoles, targeting 60fps. Also Insomniac with their slew of releases, all with decent RT support. So yeah, I'm not sure I'd hold Cyberpunk up as an example of how bad things are gonna get.

Imagine CP with Dying Light’s parkour or even general gameplay, melee etc. Glad so many are loving CP. It’s a brilliant game with the best world I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to jump back in, just need to get HFW and DL2 and SIFU out the way.

Definitely jealous of the RT footage, tbh. I'm playing on a 1080ti at 1440p, can pretty much have everything either on ultra or very high, but obviously no RT, and my game just doesn't look anywhere near as good as some of the clips I see.
Still get tons of texture pop-in, as well. Shame.

I could still see barely any difference between the modes. The ray tracing, surface reflections and diffused shadows and lighting in Cyberpunk are so mild that it's really there for the tech fanboys to wank over, as far as I can see. I mean yeah in the future when it's more pronounced it'll be good, but for now I'm gonna stick with performance mode for the extra frames.

When's the best time to start doing all the side gigs and shit? Not really done anything but the story so far and just on Act 2 after being shot in the head .

I’d see out the mission after that first though.

So I should go and meet the Japanese chap who saved me first? I just ended up leaving V's apartment and fucking about. That Regina woman who cantacted me near the start of the game - I realised I'd never followed up on that - so I went to visit her and just got a couple of blue dialogue options and nothing else. Was expecting a whole slew of side missions from her.

If you look on the map there are some side missions highlighted as blue icons, like “such and such needs reducing” or “data needs recovering” etc. If you drive near them, Regina will contact you and give you a bit more info.
A load more fixers will start to get in touch as you go along and start offering you jobs. Your phone is generally where it all happens, you don’t need to visit them.

Got myself into a situation last night I couldn't get out of. Dropped into a room behind a pharmaceutical place in Watson through an open skylight, unfortunately the only door out was a Technical Ability of 8, I had 7. Skylight too high to jump back up to, so I was effectively trapped. Thankfully the auto-save was a fairly recent one so I didn't lose much progress.

Just finished the campaign. Went with the ask Panam for help and save V ending. Debating whether to go back for the rest, but it keeps giving me new side quests after resuming at the start of Act 3 . Cracking game, I've really enjoyed it. As it wore on, I found myself gravitating away from guns and more and more towards quickhacks; might reset and spec for that. I don't think I've missed it but has there been any word on substantive DLC, or should I trade this sucker in?

What’s the general opinion on graphics filters, do you turn them all off?

I quite like the lens flare on this. I know it’s super over the top and makes little sense in first person, but it just adds that neon soaked sheen to the aesthetic so it kind of works for me.

Me too. If any game actually warranted it, it's this one.

I do normally too, interesting that others are keeping them on. I wonder if they affect the performance at all with them all on?

This really has got it's hooks into me. It's fucking brilliant. I'm still just driving slowly to my destination each time instead of fast travelling anywhere. The city is one of the best open worlds I've been in. I'm so glad I waited. Just got Jackie's Bike as well now, which is great fun. haven't continued the story yet as I'm enjoying mopping up some side gigs. Did the Delamain one which was quite easy and good fun to do, which also gave me a reason to explore a bit more of the city. It's huge!

I don't know if DLSS is having a 'mare on this, but at 1440 with everything on Ultra, it looks pap outdoors. Indoor environments tend to look better, but sunlight has everything looking blurry and flat.
