Or use the smart weapons that do most of the aiming for you and upgrade your character to be powerful in other areas.

I keep forgetting I can play this now I have a Series X but I've looked at Deus Ex Human Revolution as well (due to backwards compatibility) and all the cyberpunk/conspiracy stuff seems so naff. Blade Runner and Deus Ex 1 are two of my favourites though

Blade Runner and Deus Ex 1 are two of my favourites though Now that you mention it, the original Deus Ex got a minor update on Steam yesterday. Only a few kilobytes and no notes about it to explain why, but cool that it's still getting support in some form.

Deus Ex has always been a grab-bag of "what if all conspiracy theories were true", though. The first game alone has the Illuminati, Majestic 12, the Knights Templar, and Area 51. It's... a lot.

Could be something I've moved on from but still like because I liked them at the time. But I think it might also be that BR and DE don't try so hard to be 'cool' and edgey. Also conspiracy theories aren't quite as fun and novel as they used to be. They're the realm of plonkers

Conspiracy theories were always populated by plonkers.

True but I was little back then and hadn't been exposed to it. Deus Ex was just X-Filesy

Don't get me wrong, I liked that part of Deus Ex. It was fun! I was just saying that the conspiracy stuff didn't start with Human Revolution.

Oh yeah, same. That's why I mentioned it. There's just something putting me off. Could just be I hold the original in such high regard it feels too sacred to play a sequel made by other people. But then there was Invisible War and that was quite a departure from being good
I really should just try it

Human Revolution is great, it really captured the DE feel imo. The boss battles kind of sucked, but they're not too bad now with the improvements they made with the director's cut.

I really rather enjoyed Human Revolution. I never actually played the original until after I'd played HR, so I didn't have the issue of comparing it to the old game. I just thought it was a really solid, linear action RPG.
It's what Cyberpunk 2077 most reminded me of, in some ways. I mean it's definitely closer to that than to an open world game like GTA or something.

The BEST THING about Deus Ex was how many fucking idiots it inspired to think they were like JC Denton exposing ThE sYsTeM.

40 hrs into this and I just can’t stop hoovering up the gigs (all done) and side quests, they are so good. I do feel like they were intended to have more decision trees, as your choices don’t really seem to matter, which sucks, but they are still great. There have been some truly excellent ones so far that I’d put up there with the best from Witcher 3.
Just finished The Hunt, which was proper gripping, disturbing and surprisingly well handled.
I was also surprised by how much I enjoyed the gigs, as although they were all pretty much the same setup, they never failed to take you to an interesting location.

I read that perhaps they'll be showing off the dlc at Gamescom. Apparently. Also where the fuck is my Witcher 3 next gen update, maybe they'll shadow drop it at the same time as the stream.

DLC? That'd be right. I just traded my copy in after giving up any expectation of that happening soon!

I'd be surprised if they show off the Cyberpunk DLC before Q1 next year, but that's pure supposition on my part.
As for current-gen Witcher 3, I'm hoping for one last stream next Wednesday to round off their 20th anniversary celebrations! (Failing that, I can honestly see it getting delayed again until 2023, as much as it pains me to say so.)

I really keep wanting to go back in and finish up Hearts of Stone and playthrough Blood & Wine, but every time I boot it up, I remember the current gen update is just around the corner and I'd might as well wait for that and start a new game there.
What I really should be doing, in the mean time, is finally get around to doing a full playthrough of the first game. It's the only one I never completed. Also, if I somehow manage that, I can carry over the save file through all 3 games on PC.
I would rather be holding a PS controller at my TV though.

This current gen patch must be Witcher III's version of winter. It's coming. Eventually.

No DLC news during the stream, from what I gather.
Maybe at The Game Awards?

Cool. I’m still playing it on ps5 and it gets better and better. It’s approaching 10/10 territory.

Fingers crossed a DLC restores a lot of cut early content with Jackie & V’s adventures.
