I don't know how anyone can flick between the two graphics modes and not see a difference. It's night and day. Maybe if you could afford a top of the range elite LG oled c1 you wouldn’t notice such a drastic difference? 1) not many normal people can afford them. 2) it’s even worse night/day difference on these OLED bay boys. It’s sickening.

You can see the people putting the hack on you and kill them before they do it if you are fast enough for the most part.

It’s sickening. Most people on here have LG OLEDs. That's why everyone is taking the piss out of you.

Also changing some of the settings on the controls can help with the jank in RT mode. Turn inner deadzone down to zero, and change the response curve to 'dynamic' and then turn delay to 0. I also turned the turning bonus right down too. It doesn't feel bad now.
And give your eyes a bit of time to get used to the 30fps.
I'm normally an ardent 60fps guy but the difference in graphics is just too much on this. And if you force yourself through it it ends up feeling ok.

Inner deadzone is a fucking stupid setting and should be set as 0 by default. It affects so few people but fucks up controls for everyone, outer deadzone affects a lot of people but they always overcompensate and set it like everyones pad is fucked. It should be set as low as possible without your character moving by itself.
It's amazing how many companies fuck this up, the controls in back for blood were a disaster at default and this isnt much better.

Do you turn off all the graphics filters too?

Tbh, I was starting to get used to the movement by midnight last night anyway. Driving was a bit weird, though, almost like there was an input lag.

The driving is just rubbish anyway, it's like you are in an alternate universe where Newtonian physics doesn't apply. Can't be doing with 30 fps in anything remotely fast paced myself, just end up with motion sickness if there's too much blurriness and input lag involved.

It tends to be games that were originally designed to work with KBM, the devs maybe aren't so sure as to how to set controller defaults so go for lowest common denominator.

I just can't get used to the ray tracing mode on this. It looks loads better but the lag is just too much for me.
I don't think the performance mode looks that bad though, I've certainly played worse.

Followed the advice on controller settings posted over the last couple of pages and, although I thought it was okay before, it's definitely better now.
I haven't noticed the driving being too bad but for some reason I'm quite happy to just pop the radio on and drive slowly to my destination in 1st person. It's pretty much the only open world game I've done it in as I normally can't wait to get to where I'm going. Night City is so awesome to just cruise about in though.
In fact, if the game was nothing more than slowly walking or driving to various seedy nightclubs to speak to dodgy people, I would be quite happy. Left it last night after arriving in the Afterlife and just mooching about the place.

I have to be honest, I haven't really been using cars, just Jackie's bike in first person, which is lots of fun. I only used the car in RT mode once last night, on the third person view and it was odd (like I say, almost a bit input laggy) but I could get used to it. Tbh, it's not really a driving game anyway, is it?
I did all the Delamain taxi missions on the bike last night and it was great. Good way to see lots of the city, too.

I haven't drove anything but the shitheap you get at the start. I'm hoping the better cars handle a bit better.

Have they actually changed the driving? I always thought it was extremely satisfying in vanilla. I was a bit gutted that those street races seemed to be 100% scripted as it was a lot of fun throwing certain cars around corners. Probably my favourite memory from the game, thrashing it out into the badlands when missions took me out there.

Can't remember what it was like previously but yeah the patch notes say they've changed it. The shitheap I'm driving has the turning circle of an aircraft carrier and digestive biscuits for brake discs.

I'll give the RT another go. To be honest, maybe my bad experience was partly down to constantly fannying around with the camera around to check out the graphics. Probably wouldn't be doing that as much in the game generally.
Would be interested to see how HFW looks at 4k 30fps. FH5 was fine at 30, maybe that will too.

I did try to drive fast for a moment and ended up killing four people and launching my car off a bridge.

Yes, I did that too. Encountered a gang, and in my hurry to escape ended up mowing down a fleeing crowd.

I need to watch a YouTube video comparing the new update and the old version. I think I'm just used to this 4k ray tracing version immediately as I am not noticing a huge difference from how it looked in the old quality mode pre patch. (Haven't played it for close to a year)

I always use the bikes because it's just easier to slip through gaps.

How strange, after you've finished Act 1 the NPC count just seems to rocket up in density. Heh, you can't move for the waves of people coming at you at times It's like CDPR have thought, "empty streets fuck you guys", and unleashed the great unwashed masses

So far the most fun part has been the montage of you and the other guy doing cool stuff....
Looks nice though on Series X and not come across any tech issues.

Loaded up my save file on Series X last night.
It's still a great game, man. Was just gonna run around for a few minutes, ended up doing two or three quest lines.
Did the looking for Evelyn at Clouds bit, which is right around when it starts getting weird. Maybe this game isn't for everyone, but it sure is for me.

I tuned the control settings and it does seem less jarring. There's still some oddness with the framerate, but it's much better looking - far more depth and feel - with RT on, even on my very elderly 1080p TV.

I don't have an OLED either. I need to take a good fucking look at my life.
My new eye prescription is -6.5 though, so it's not like I could actually see the difference. I'm just grateful I can see.

Am I the only one obsessively flicking through the 2 modes every 3 minutes to reassure myself that the performance hit is worth it?

I daren't try the performance mode as I know RT will seem even more juddery in comparison.
