You're supposed to pack at the shelf after the check out, not at the till, this is how they keep prices so damn low!

That's why I use the self service checkouts. If I'm ever feeling overwhelmed at scanning a pack of frozen peas, I can just slow down and take some deep breaths.

As if people with evil twins don't have it hard enough already. I brought my two year old to Little Kickers today, and there was a Dad there who I thought was a lad I trained with while doing Kickboxing a few years earlier. Turns out it wasn't him, despite looking scarily similar, but he also just happened to have started doing Kickboxing himself a few weeks earlier. Really makes you think

I have been mistaken for someone who is also a regular at my local on more than one occasion, and I wouldn't mind it so much if he wasn't a fucking wrestling fan.

I was at my local kebab place the other day, wearing a beanie due to cold weather. And the owner said "Hey, do you have a twin? There's a guy who comes around who looks just like you!"
"Are you sure it wasn't just me?"
"Maybe! Could you take your hat off for a second?"
*removes beanie*
"No no, this guy was someone else. He's always ordering kebabs with a cowboy hat on"
So now I'm imagining my doppelganger going around with a 10 gallon hat, wandering into new towns so he can try their kebabs. What a life.

Wait, so he asked you to take your beanie off so he could check you weren't wearing a cowboy hat underneath?

I think maybe he would have recognised the hair (or lack thereof) under the hat. Maybe he caught a brief glimpse of it when the cowboy removed the hat to be polite to a passing dame.

A change of underwear would be appropriate after that, that was as close as you could get.
Also horrifying, I left the tab open and it switched to playing a video of Coldplay.

Yeah, I'm not exactly shedding tears for them. But it is a little fucked, because if even those guys are struggling to pay the mortgage, imagine how hard it is for all the people with less name recognition. Or other production staff on these projects.

I do, little bit.
94 percent of entertainers earn below median wage. That's f up.
And will be even worse when they have to retire.
Their work is important, it's our culture. And they do it because of inner drive, and passion. So they work for scraps providing us entertainment, building on our culture.
Nah. It is sad.

I'm not really surprised that the average wage for entertainers is low. I mean, there's always been that image of Hollywood being full of 'actors' who are mainly waiting tables and hoping to get a big break. And only like 5% do.
Being freelance, with an unpredictable income can be really tough. Plus you don't have an HR department or pension, etc.. so even if your headline pay looks good, you have to take loads away to cover all that stuff.
Plus some people, especially female actresses, seem to have a very short career span, kinda like a footballer. After 35, you rarely see them again.
Still don't quite get how people like Cleese and Idle have managed to not put away enough to be at least comfortable. But I always wondered about the mid-level actors. You know, the ones who'll be the star of a tv show that runs for 2-3 seasons and is mildly successful, but then you'll never really see them in much else. (Though I assume the pay for such things is much higher in the US than the UK).
Some of them seem to do quite well out of their one show, and be comfortable even if they aren't working much. Others still seem to be taking any role they can get into their 60s. Though whether that's from love or necessity, who knows.
I assume residuals used to be a big part of that, though it sounds like less so now. Or stuck going to comicon for decades just for the pay.
I guess the UK is better in that it has the NHS and State Pension, so there's at least some safety net.

Its probably only going to get worse as tv and movie streaming platforms want to dodge paying residuals and move to a Spotify style pittance (or less) for the stars of their hit shows

It hit 523 today. Yeesh. I worry for India’s habitability. Heatwaves getting worse. Monsoon lasting longer. Modi and his “I am a god” phase.
