4 grab one of Britain's many asylum seekers and use them as a human shield. If they're carrying corrosive chemicals, even better.
Edit, hell of a post for a new page.

It's the same as with bears, the best defense is being able to run away faster than geefe

Has anyone ever tried the old sticking their finger up the dogs ass to stop it attacking? Or is that just an urban myth? My old man (ex-police) always told us to give as hard a kick as you can in it's chest, so as to wind it. Though either might be tricky when one of your legs is hanging off.

The problem with the finger trick is it's probably at the far end of the dog.

I remember being told as a child that if a dog ever attacks you, pull its front legs apart hard and the bones will crush its heart.
Which all sounds like a brutality/fatality from MK now that I picture it. Why the fuck did a responsible adult tell me that?!

Unless you’re a double hard bastard trained in and used to fighting, everything would go out of the window and the dog is not a static target. You aren’t getting thumbs into its eyes or placing aimed kicks into specific targets. It’s much faster than you, much stronger than you, and much more brain damaged than you (for a few seconds).
For most dogs or animals for that matter you can hurt them enough to think twice about their own injuries but there’s footage of pit bull types being shot by handguns, hit with hammers and tools, they aren’t right and that’s being deliberately bred into them. They are programmed by being bred from lines of ‘game’ psychopaths to ignore pain.
I’m sorry that this may not be a popular opinion but I really do think a cull is the reasonable response. I know media blows it up but I’ve just read about one attacking a pram on Reddit. There’s two that must be one of these near me, they are never muzzled.

If you're being attacked just blow gently into their face. Dogs hate that.

Not opposed to a cull. Fundamentally, would you allow people to keep a tiger or a gorilla as a pet? Both have the power to kill a grown man, like these dogs.

Rather than a cull, actually have measures around who can have dogs. From the massive ones to the tiny ones. Should have to meet specific requirements and training before owning one.
How realistic that would be to implement I don't know.

Not sure if I support a cull, but they should definitely be banned from future breeding with the breed just dying out.
Same as Scottish folds and pugs etc, although I'd much rather take one of those on.

I know when it all kicks off I’d be shitting my pants and scrambling up the nearest tree in tears but why is throwing the steak away step three when you’ve already offered it a chunk of juicy man-flesh off of your own arse?

I'd largely agree that dogs - actually no, to be honest, I'd even say all pets on the basis of animal welfare (though I appreciate with dogs it's about ensuring the owner can be responsible to others) - should require a license to ensure the owners are suitable and can offer the right level of care.
But how you would actually police this is a mystery.
I do think dogs should be kept on leads, unless in a specific dog park.

There’s definitely feels like there’s been a dip in responsible ownership over the last few years.
Its only just calming down now but near mine are fields with cattle and horses, and a wetlands nature reserve and ever since the pandemic you regularly see people putting their dogs into the fields for a run around with the livestock off the lead. One time the horses got out and blocked the road through the village.
I suppose its all routed in the defensive “you can’t tell me what to say, I’m entitled to my opinion” attitude that’s characterised the last decade, only its not an opinion its a living creature.

This is purely annecdotal but I go for longish walks most weekends, and I'd say it's very common to have dogs, off lead, run up to me or jump up at me as I pass. The number of people who can't control their dogs, who let them run around off lead, has increased a lot over recent years. I suspect many are lockdown pets.
Now, most of these occasions it's not done by a dog out of aggression - the dog *is* playing. But it's still a) annoying, I don't want paw prints over my coat, thanks and b) it's actually hard to tell in that moment if the dog *is* playing.
My dad has a rescue dog, who is quite gentle towards people but due to his past does not get on well with strange dogs. He's kept on a lead, and if there's other people about a relatively short one.
It's quite infuriating when a dog runs up to him and sets him off. And the other dog owner is often just appalled that my dad's dog barked at their mutt. They are the ones failing to control their dogs. The dickweeds.
So yeah, I definitely think the level of entitled owners who can't control their dogs has increased a lot.

One of my absolute pet hates is people just going up and stroking a dog.
A good comeback is to start stroking the person. The clever ones get the hint.

I walk about an hour or so most days and come across a lot of dogs off their leads in places they really shouldn't be off plus parks where you'd expect it, most pretty much ignore me, the occasional one will yap at me (always the smaller dogs that I don't really like much) so I ignore them, the only ones I interact with in any way are the medium sized dogs that'll stand off a little way wagging their tails and they'll usually get a quick stroke, then they'll usually bound away again.
Did see a Newfoundland one walk but it was too far away to see how it would dwarf me, those things are huge but also one of the friendliest breeds on the planet.

There are some of my regular running routes I won’t take on weekends because the dog traffic is too high and they love to get under your feet or jump up when you jog past. I usually slow down and walk to get by them a lot of the time. Plus it probably isn’t great for a dog’s nerves having men stampede them off paths that aren’t much bigger than two abreast.

Had to take one of our labs to the vet this week, and there was what I think was a Bully XL in the waiting room. It's been on my mind ever since, it was scary. It was well enough behaved, and everyone was talking to it, but it just looked like it could go nuts and there's nothing the owner could do about it. Massive head, the weight of our 2 labs put together. I know our normally calm labs can become arseholes in the blink of an eye.

Yeah, saw one in pets at home the other day and even when muzzled they're intimidating fuckers. Like Jack Reacher in dog form.

I've never actually 'bought' a movie on a digital service, as I've never been that confident how long I'd have access to it. (the fact I'm overseas and often using services in other countries makes that more risky of course). Subscriptions, yes. Digital rentals, yes. But if I actually buy it then I've stuck to physical. Not for games of course I did also buy a couple of very cheap albums on Google Play Music before they shut that down. I'm not really sure if I still have access to those on youtube or something, but given that I can get any album on spotify I haven't really missed them.
