Got so much good stuff before it closed down.
Loved the Hertford shop as a kid.

Bought my Xbox Crystal from Woolies in Plymouth and then traded in whatever game it came with for some credit and a second hand Halo from Gamestation.

Saints Row 3 was ahead of its time, different big cat but close enough.

Brianna Ghey's killers have just been named and are about to be sentenced.
It's all horrific - me saying "that poor girl" doesn't really do it justice.

Yeah. I saw teachers didn't see any signs, allegedly. But years ago my experience of flagging up a lad who wrote about disemboweling women and virgins, I was told "he's just trying to shock".
Funnily enough, also in Cheshire.

Never sure that naming them is the best approach. More than a few killers enjoy the noteriety and it risks almost wiping the victim's name from everyone's memory.

While I appreciate that, I also think it allows people to see just how...for lack of a better word, fucked up these kids are.
It is awful and no excuse but the lad, a 16 year old, had a colouring book in court and has mutism.
Hopefully it shines a light on the system. Getting CAMHS is basically like getting to the end of a fucking rainbow.

If the murderers weren't named then two people would have just disappeared when convicted.
Justice has to be seen to be served and that means they get named. Victims of some crimes can remain nameless but not the perpetrators.

There can at least be some controls on publishing their picture, like at least don't print them on the front page.

They seem pretty messed up, rather than doing it for the fame.
Seeing the state of them now, I can't imagine them being all that inspiring to anyone. More of a cautionary tale.

linkRegarding Boeing being a bit shit. Read an article recently how that Boeing had basically implemented 'austerity' measures to make itself more efficient. Turns out efficiencies for companies have the same effect as if applied to the economy at large, i.e those efficiencies massively expose their Fragility's. I often think about how 'efficiency's' as applied to public services actually manifest. Doctors not able to spend sufficient time with patients. Nurses not being able to spare five minutes to spend with a dying patient (social care too). Teachers not having any extra time to spend with a child struggling with a subject. There are probably a fair few more. Then we have efficiency's as applied to vehicles that are supposed to be safe. Efficiency is not always a good thing.

Swift also bought more than double the amount of carbon credits needed to offset her private jet use for her Eras Tour
Fuck right off, carbon credits are bullshit.

Oh boy. Did she lose a lot of money. Own show is a big thing. Didn't know that part.
Unsure how it's disney fault she was being bullied. Does disney have a requirement to keep staff which is now unpopular and can hurt their sales.
I don't understand how disney is at fault here.

I'm always a bit torn on these kinds of situations. On the one hand I don't really feel all that comfortable with people losing their jobs just because they posted something people didn't like on social media, but on the other hand the companies probably have the right not to be associated with opinions that reflect badly on them.
It's all within reason though, someone shouldn't lose their job for saying that they prefer burgers when the company's ceo prefers hotdogs, but if they're posting racist or extremist opinions then they probably should.
There have been a bunch of people losing roles in relation to opinions on Gaza recently, and some of those seemed a lot more justifiable than others.
They could always bring her back and turn her into a bad guy

I don't generally think people should lose their jobs for being shitty on social media, unless:
a) they did a crime, or b) they're publicly shitting on their employers, or c) their shittiness affects their ability to do their job properly
I don't know that any of those apply in this case. Actors are people, and people can believe all kinds of shitty things while still being able to do their job. And firing her has turned it into a way bigger deal than it otherwise might have been.

Disney is pretty well known for having strict requirements in their contracts about what their stars can and can't do and she was probably told not to post anything that could reflect poorly on them or you'd get shitcanned. She did, so she was.
It is a restriction on free speech but if you want to work for Disney you play by their rules. She was given her own show, which was quite something given her limited acting talents, but couldn't keep her mouth shut. How she can be reinstated to a show that was cancelled is a bit of a mystery.

Sure, they're allowed to have and enforce their own rules. I just don't think I agree 100% with those rules, especially when they're turning this person into yet another martyr for idiots.

There will surely be clauses in the contracts about damage to reputation etc? Disney are perfectly in their rights to shitcan her - as Whizzo says, no-one is saying that she can't have those views. Just not whilst working for Disney

I'm sure throwing your spare coat, everyone has one in case of dog attacks, then offering your thigh which apparently has no major blood vessels in it, while a dog tries to rip your throat out or remove your face will work splendidly. Thank you Daily Mail!
edit: I forgot that carrying food to throw and distract the dog is such a good idea too, however perhaps the food is what made it attack in the first place? Oh no, what to do Daily Mail?
