Came to post this, I didn't think it would get much national interest. I live a minutes walk from the entrance to the Crooked House. Sounds like I've probably crossed paths with a few of you IRL. Anyway I'm going down there at 6 to join the meet up, apparently the news is going to be there. There was a gathering yesterday afternoon and hired goons were preventing people from getting any closer. I'm surprised so many forumites seem to live in and around, or have connections to Gornal/Himley etc. The Fontgeek contingent has definitely upped the areas cultural cache. Best case outcome is that they are told to rebuild brick by brick it at the Black Country Museum at this point. It really does sadden me. We need a Gornal thread  Snetters only allowed with prior vetting, we have to keep standards up  |

The landfill address is registered to a house nearby the Crooked House, next door to the traveller site that's just the other side of the old railway.

The Carlton Tavern in Kilburn was similarly demolished without permit a few years ago, the owner was forced to rebuild it brick by brick

One of the local councillors interviewed on the local news was a bit odd. Very noncommittal on everything: rebuilding, preservation, enquiry. Something smelt very fishy about it. We need an inquisitive journalist to dig through everything around all the landfills in that area and any connection to Dudley and South Staffs councils. There’s something bigger that smells whiffier than the landfill about this. |

Surprised it's taken days for these details to emerge. The only reason for the delay is either shit journalists or HM land registry only just got updated with the new owners.

Yeah. I’m hoping for a “Dudley Special” in Nooks and Corners, seeing as the council are currently demolishing the Hippodrome - an old theatre where greats like Laurel & Hardy performed.
