Yeah I think Phil Mitchell had to rebuild the Vic with his bare hands. That explains the crack

Really fucking sad. Might go and firebomb any new developments there next time I visit my dad.
Joking. Mostly.

The amount of times I've walked past a faceless new building for students/ Chinese/ no one in Manchester and thought "a well placed fire would work wonders"

I know of one of those in Manchester built on the site of a demolished pub recently

They didn't hang about. Doesn't seem like it allowed much time for an arson investigation to take place. I'm sure one happened and no backhanders have been made to keep schtum...

Regarding the Crooked House; I'm sure that the landfills on either side of it will not seek planning permission to expand into the valley the pub was in. I'm sure that when the landfills are full, they will not link up the two parcels of land to make one huge one that stretches from Stallings Lane to The Himley Road and then on to The Straits (Making huge piece of land with a 4 miles long perimeter) I'm sure that it won't be used for housebuilding in the next 20 years. I'm sure that nothing will be done and typing this is a waste of time. I'm sure that it will happen again, and again, and...
Edit took out the Dudley council bit because... The Crooked House is literally just over the border under the jurisdiction of South Staffordshire Council. In plain English we're screwed, SSC have been dumping their shit on the border with the West Midlands for ages. It's away from their voters you see, people over the border get the problems and loss of green belt, and South Staffs residents are insulated from the problems.

These are the things that make your city what it is but, honestly, if I had some kid asking if they should move to Manchester, I'd tell them to go elsewhere. A mate works in property law and has some insight into these big building purchases. He says that if you can imagine/ suspect it, it's probably true.

Must be true then if you have a mate that said it. Was it the same mate that told you the Kes actor grew up and turned into a cunt? I get a bit lost amidst it all tbh.

Nothing there to investigate, guv.

No, this mate works in property law in Manchester - purchases, legal challenges to building work, etc. A mate didn't tell me about the Kes actor. Numerous colleagues in Barnsley told me about that. Christ, you're fucking miserable today mate.

Came to post this, I didn't think it would get much national interest.
I live a minutes walk from the entrance to the Crooked House. Sounds like I've probably crossed paths with a few of you IRL.
Anyway I'm going down there at 6 to join the meet up, apparently the news is going to be there. There was a gathering yesterday afternoon and hired goons were preventing people from getting any closer.

Very convenient for a digger to come along so fast to knock the brick remnants down really fast. I'd be very surprised if the police don't open an investigation as this seems the most unsubtle act by the new owners.

The roadblock that was there to prevent access to the fire engines is unmoved, meaning the digger was there ready and waiting the entire time.

There's screenshots on twitter showing the digger in situ. Dunno if legit or not, but it looks bad...

There's a video of the digger knocking it down, and Google Maps grabs of an identical digger sat on neighbouring land some months earlier.

I know a lot of criminals are real idiots but this is like an AI cooked up this scheme. You say that, but I'm pretty certain that absolutely nobody will face any repercussions. The company involved will get a fine that pales in comparison to the value potential of the land after it's developed

So it was the landfill I never would have guessed
Not like there’s been shitting up of the access road and surrounding area for years to put people off holding their weddings there.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-66220792 So 15 days the jury's been in deliberation, that is a long time for people to be umming and ahing, of course we'll never know what goes on inside the jurors deliberation room or whatever it's called but the judge has said he'll accept a majority verdict so it seems there must be at least one or more of them for which it must be touch and go one way or another, I suppose once that juror gives out then that's that! Seems an odd way to decide someone's fate but it is what it is I suppose. I would hate to be on a jury for something like this, I imagine she'll never get out if she's found guilty.

That kind of ruling tends to suggest one of them is trying to 12 angry men it.

Lets face it, even if they return a not guilty verdict she’ll never not be known as the baby killer nurse.

Were any other FGers at the crooked house?
I was jealous of the people who had the foresight to bring a beer and pint glass

I'm surprised so many forumites seem to live in and around, or have connections to Gornal/Himley etc. The Fontgeek contingent has definitely upped the areas cultural cache. Best case outcome is that they are told to rebuild brick by brick it at the Black Country Museum at this point. It really does sadden me.
