So predictable and obvious.
There was a site here in Glasgow, renowned for its fires, that had a listed building where a dev wanted student housing. Lucky when it went on fire it wasn’t damaged too badly that it couldn’t be saved.
What then we’re the chances that a second fire would be suffered just weeks later?

Absolutely shit that it happens.
Would be an awful shame for new developments to catch fire.

The Crooked House site is actually a really shit site for homes. There's a single, long access road that goes past a couple of busy landfills. To be fair, that's why the pub was struggling.
Nobody will *want* to live down there and frankly it'll become a bit of a scum landlord ghetto.
Now that the damage is done I would rather it becomes an industrial site as it's more suited to that than homes.

It's in a valley between two landfills, The north landfill that runs alongside the Himley Road is finished, they're still filling the southern one. The Crooked House would have been the doughnut in the hole in what will one day be a huge parcel of land that stretches from Stallings Lane to the Himley Road.
(I know the road names are meaningless to most of you)

Sounds like a good place to have a pub when the work around it is done.

X201Ah, wasn't sure if the landfills were both operational. Still just a shame to lose the historic building to an insurance arson (which I fully expect. There's a pub in the nearby Lower Gornal village that suffered the same fate after developers were refused permission for an Aldi or something)

A grade 2 listed building that had been student accommodation in the middle of a gentrifying area of Newcastle burned down a couple of months ago come to think of it www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-tyne-65856241What a tragic spate of accidents

Amazing how thoroughly everything burnt. Even the building at the rear which is barely connected to the main building. The Crooked House: Fire rips through famed 'wonky' pub www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-66421163Edit: And of course the public footpath that runs through the grounds will need to be closed “For safety purposes”

We've got a property near us that's been sought after for development and over a period of 2 months all three separate parts mysteriously burnt down one by one. They even burnt down one part on bonfire night, clearly thinking that a stray firework might get blamed, except the fireworks were cancelled because of the torrential rain that night.

Damn it. When we got back together in 2017, after decades apart, The Crooked House was one of the first places that Mrs. M. and I went to together A photo of us outside it appears each evening on our electronic photo frame here

I mean, they're a bit 80s but I'm not sure if they're worth getting all emotional over.

The Crooked House petition if anyone is interested www.change.org/p/save-the-crooked-houseI suppose if the council see enough people sign it it may jolt them into actually getting a map out and finding where the north of the borough is.

Didn't some developer get ordered to rebuild a pub brick by brick? Would love to see that happen here.

Fucking hell. I hope there's a similar outcome here, ideally with a judge that had the place as his local
