A quick Google suggests that standard parking is still $25 a day.

So just got back from our 3 night mini break in Bristol, Travelodge 6/10.
Tuesday SS Great Britain 8/10 Skatepark Dinner out - The Hole In The Wall pub 6/10
Wednesday Kids and I did the Aerospace Museum 4/10 whilst the Missus did the Van Gogh thing 9/10 Swimming in a Skusbucket pool 2/10 VR experience 7/10 Skatepark Dinner out - Pizza Express actually pretty good compared to the shite one's down here, perfect for a rowdy family, good cocktails too though a bloody expensive meal out after everything 8/10
Thursday Bristol Zoo 5/10 Skatepark We The Tiger 9/10 (even though we're really not sure what it was all about) Dinner out - same as above although somehow even more expensive
So all in all a pretty successful mini break, apart from the cost which was eyewatering for 3 days, eldest was generally pretty good surprisingly, the youngest was a bit of knob, moaning all time, eaten about two weeks worth of food and sprained my back this morning just by turning my head so that made the drive home uncomfortable, stupid old body. Bloody knackered, no doubt the dopey kids will want me to take them to another skatepark today!

I’m still enjoying beach island life but no swimming for me today as I managed to be a total stupid cunt and get sunburn yesterday even though I was under a brolly all day and only went swimming at 4:30.
I look the opposite of everyone else as the sunblock worked in all the places exposed but not where I didn’t put it on like the tops of my feat where they join the legs.
As I said, stooopid.

Since I think I mentioned the Aerospace Museum and the weird Tiger thing, I guess that averages out at a 7/10 suggestion?
Which skatepark, and what was the rating?

Staying the good 'ol Brecon Beacons. Had a Top Gear moment driving along a road they use for epic road test stuff - didn't have a fancy car mind but passed a Farrari. Off for hike tomorroe.

@bill, just Bill It was Dean Park skatepark, I'd normally have tried a few different ones out but after a hesitant start on the first visit they both declared their full approval (9/10) so we just carried on going there and the parking was super easy the times we visited and only a short drive from the hotel, obviously very 'urban', so a bit of an eye opener for the kids! Really quite disappointed by the Aerospace Museum, hardly any actual planes, guess we've been spoilt by going to Fleet so many times as the kids grew up.

Fuck sake. First day of holiday today and middle child is vomiting. We’ve been through a lot recently and kids especially were looking forward to it. Nice beach, good weather in the UK for a change, but this has the potential to ruin it for all of them as we are only here Friday

Yeah hope so. She asleep now so laying next to her ready to catch it when she wakes up. They don’t tell you about all this fun stuff before you have kids I guess we’ll see how things go over the next couple of days.

They hint at it, but we're programmed by evolution not to really listen. Still worth it in the long run though (ours are 21 and 17).

Though it was probably 20 years ago. I lived very nearby for a grand total of about 3 weeks. I'd just discovered it and been once or twice, and then I ended up leaving Bristol. I'd never have remembered the name of it though. Shame about the Aerospace one. Fleet is great, iirc.

Even had another two after I knew Hopefully she’ll be ok to at least go down to the beach later.

Hope she's feeling better. They bounce back quickly, so sure she'll be ok even if not at 100%.

Yeah she should be ok later today. Get her out in the fresh air! Hope the others (and us) avoid it. We’re here with the in laws so at least they can help

Has anyone been to Mexico in October?
Seems fairly cheap but that might be because it's hurricane season.

Last day in south of France for me and the family. Currently sat in a bar in Nice old town watching the world go by. It’s been a fantastic holiday, done Cannes, Antibes, Juan les Pan, cagnes ser mer and Nice over 10 days. Back to Manchester is not a happy thought

Lucky you, I have happy memories of hanging around that area a fair few years ago. It was a really good holiday. My missus knew someone from that area through work and they were kind enough to take some time out to show us around the area and up into the alpes maritime to see some beautiful hilltop villages etc.

Not Mexico but we often go to the other side of the Gulf (Florida) in October and haven't had any issues with hurricanes. It's always a risk but I think the chance is significantly less in October than late August or September.

Back from southern Spain, via France, at the weekend.
Went via Eurotunnel, highly recommended. Managed to get an earlier train both there and back.
Overall a great 3 1/2 week holiday, caught up with friends who have moved to Spain, stayed in a couple of places we not been to before, Cadiz and Salamanca. Amazing food and people.
Downsides: fuckers who rented our house in Spain for a year, nicked most of our stuff when they left. Took us a week to get the house back in some semblance of order. And side effects (affects?) of my blood pressure tablets, really painful joints, meant I was all but useless at times.
Spain is still cheap as chips for eating and drinking. Roof terrace, overlooking a peaceful valley, chilled beer, olives, Iberico ham, no complaints. Weather, scorchio.
And I now have a French entry stamp in my shiny new super duper blue passport \o/

We've only just booked train tickets for a Spain trip. Fucking expensive, but didn't really want to risk plane travel. Plus my missus is terrified of flying, which probably hasn't been helped by a 3 year gap between holidays and watching Yellowjackets recently...
Will be so good to get away for a bit. I can almost taste the sepia a la plancha already.

I came across a travel company called Byway (https://www.byway.travel/) recently that has options. Not quite as flexible as I hoped (i.e a trip to Italy pretty much just went across to Venice and back), but there might be something for somebody.
Actually used an agent for the first time ever this summer and it was just 'nice' knowing that shit was taken care of.

Last day on a Greek beach for me and sad to be going back home.
A new arrival to our hotel last night was an actress whose not really well known but enough that I recognised her.

I just did a bus/train European sojourn a few weeks ago too. Wasn't trusting flights at the moment, plus a potentially problematic (but greenlighted now) health condition led to this plan.
Did Eurostar to Paris then flitted to San Marino, Rome and Naples, stopping at Florence,Paris and London again on the way back. Was very hot and my itinerary was probably a bit busy but nice to have a family holiday again as the last overseas one had been in October, 2014 doing something similar (ferry to Amsterdam, visiting La Gruyere in Switzerland, Milan, Venice and Munich). The night bus portions were the uncomfortable bit. All self planned and booked step by step. Cost a bit more than I would have liked due to unfortunate last minute notice we could go ahead and it being peak season.
That is it for holidays for this year now.

Not sure quite how they manage to be so slow at Heathrow.
Though, to be fair, when we arrived there a few years ago with very young kids and there was an insanely long line, the staff were very friendly and got us through super quick.

I'm back home and working now.
I don't think I've ever been so depressed about the end of a holiday. It wasn't that it was exceptionally great - more that I regret more and more my decision to stick with the UK over Greece.

I'm fairly sure they make it difficult and unfriendly at Heathrow to make it look like they are taking immigration seriously to really stick it to the dodgy illegals. Hostile environment etc. Always sends me into a rant, annoying my family and increasing my odds of arrest.
