They have somehow made Max look like a kid again, despite her looking waaay older in Fear Street.
I worry that they have a way too big cast at this point too.
Them aging up doesn't seem to be an issue if the plot acknowledges it. They could just set the season a few years later when they're in high school or something. My main worry is that it's just going to be retreading the stuff they did for the past few seasons. They could really do with shaking things up a bit and doing something a bit fresh.

I tried to watch a bit with my boy as he likes stuff like that but Americans in full "look at me I'm a super happy American" mode makes me think Putin should just do it. Even my 7 year old son said "dad these people are cunts, turn it off". With his eyes.

I watched an American Family Fortunes compilation clip (Family Feud) and some of the people on that show are horrid. Whooping and hollering 'it's up there, it's up there' and 'good answer' when it's clearly not.
Anyway, watched the vegan documentary. It was ok, but very in the Netflix style.

It's the host that bothered me, every time he had the knife out I was hoping he had a horrific accident.

We're really enjoying My Name, think someone recommended it earlier. Lead actress (Han So Hee) is brilliant.

Boiling Point is on there now - looks great, Stephen Graham as a very stressed chef in a single-shot movie

Just finished Part 1 of Ozark S4
Some of the writing is quite iffy, a lot of the FBI stuff seems very far fetched, the daughter is still pretty rubbish but Ruth is amazing as ever and Wendy is extremely hateful. So, still enjoying it, flaws and all.

The Sparks Brothers
A good look at Sparks career, well worth a watch if you have a passing interest in their music.

So, is Bridgerton actually a good watch? Or is it the TV equivalent of someone reading a Mills & Boon thing for the "story and characters", when you know deep down they're mostly in it for the rumpy pumpy.
Like, it's fine if that's what you want, but I'd prefer it if there's a bit more going on.

It’s absolute tosh and I love it. The production values are sky high, stories are nonsense, the main characters are bland enough to carry what passes as a story while an excellent supporting cast chews the scenery to pieces. It’s a mess that doesn’t work on paper but adds up to esetial viewing for this idiot

Check it out if you fancy it, it is enjoyable nonsense, but I could understand if it’s not to everyone’s taste.
Like I said in the other thread, it’s no more ridiculous than anything Marvel has put out. It’s just not my bag (baby).

I can’t stand to watch utter shite like Bridgerton like all the other period dramas and their romanticising of the Upper Class , especially as their modern equivalents are the ones destroying the country and they basically detest the average punter watching shows like that. The popularity explains a lot about modern UK though.

Ecosse is off to watch Top Boy until he feels less guilty about being middle class.

One of the things I like about Bridgerton is the way it doesn’t shine a very good light on high society at the time, compared to the usual period drama. Something that wouldn’t go totally unnoticed unless you just dismiss it as utter shite without hsving actually seen it

Isn’t the whole point that it skewers high society?

It’s either that or or it romanticises the upper classes, I know what I choose to believe

Supposedly Jane Austen skewers that bit of society, but most people these days just take it as a way to live. Dunno how Austen would feel about that but it puts me off the whole thing generally.

I can’t make myself want to even try and watch that sort of period drama. It always comes across as if it’s going to be about as deep and interesting as a soap but everyone being passive aggressive instead of shouting at each other.

I can’t make myself want to even try and watch that sort of period drama. It always comes across as if it’s going to be about as deep and interesting as a soap but everyone being passive aggressive instead of shouting at each other. Bridgerton isn't even a period drama. It's something... else... It's a costume drama, but the whole period is basically a fantasy - not, to be clear, because of the races etc., that works in the same way it works in Shakespeare, and actually improves the show (and also wonderfully riled up the dumb bigot brigade), but because nothing actually works like the 1700s. Like case in point, early in the first episode, there's a girl who is like, very mildly rounded, and the other girls are being mean to her about it, and it's just 100% bullshit, because in the 1700s it'd be the opposite way around. The skinny girls would be mocked and sneered at. That's pretty well-recorded, historically. And the whole thing is like that (at least the first two episodes) - 21st century attitudes in a 1700s aesthetic and faux-setting. There's nothing entirely wrong with that - it can work - I loved Merlin which was absolutely not "authentic Arthurian" anything and mostly aimed at kids. But with Bridgerton my wife and I just found it utterly toothless and bland. I suspect it might improve if you keep watching it (a lot of soapy or melodramatic stuff does), but we didn't.

Not my cup of tea, but my wife hated it, despite usually liking that sort of thing. I think it's the inauthenticity too. All seems too fake and forced. She's giving it another go after people expressed incredulity, but isn't liking it any better so far.
