Agreed. The only time 3rd place contests are acceptable is at the Olympics.
Third at the football world cup used to guarantee qualification for the next one. That was actually worth something in the 16 team era though not sure it improved the spectacle much.
Frankly I'm not even sure I'll watch the final this weekend. Very hard to take much pleasure from that tie as a neutral, so it's been relegated to third on the bill in my house after the Arsenal game and Mexican GP.
This world cup peaked in the quarters, which were brilliant.

Probably the right call if they couldn't verify Curry's claim either way - innocent until proven guilty, after all - but it's still a crappy situation for all concerned.

The audio is absolutely shit, but it does sound like someone shouting it several times to his team mates not as an insult, just Tom Curry assumed it was about him. But the audio fucking sucks. |

Both the Mail and the Telegraph - two papers I wouldn't use to line a hamster cage for fear of poisoning the poor rodent, but which do tend to be pretty good for rugby news! - stated that the alleged slur was uttered during a different incident.

I too am glad that England didn't make the final, especially having just sat through 40 minutes of Borthwick's best.
I'd like to see the Boks win tomorrow, but I tend to agree with Danno - I reckon the All Blacks will take it.
