Sounds like a banger I wish my local actually showed rugby outside the 6N.

'Twas a good game in the end. Bath deserved to win it, having played for an hour with 14 men, but it wasn't to be.
Finn Russell is some player.
Kudos to Saints. I'm sure Bath will be back next season.

I don’t support any team but really wanted bath to win after the red. Outside of a ten minute spell when Northampton got two tries bath were the much better team. Now at the end I feel gutted as if I’m a bath supporter.

I love Finn I wish Glasgow could still afford him. We just won our quarter final against the Stormers but it's never quite as good as when we had Finn.

I love his attitude. When he missed his first kick at goal this afternoon, he smiled and shrugged it off - if you haven't seen him play regularly (as I hadn't, prior to this season), you might think that he's arrogant, or doesn't care, but I don't believe either is true. He just has an amazing ability to move on and focus on whatever's in front of him.
Having read about his past bust-ups with Townsend, I'd blithely assumed that he was a Cipriani type of player. Also not true: for one thing, he's not shy about tackling and getting stuck into rucks!

He's my favourite player. Not just his quality but his sense that's he's having fun draws me in. I think it's more interesting to kids as well.
As opposed to the Sam Warburton alpha test or Own Farrell super seriousness. It's all ultimately a game and ought to be enjoyable.

His nonchalance is an absolute weapon as well. Watch how many defenders switch off and focus elsewhere because he looks like he couldn't give a fuck, strolling away from the ruck, clearly nothing's on so wait for a forward pod carry. 2 seconds later and there's a 3 on 1 charging down the blindside/haring after a kick/everyone's scrambling to bring him down and cover the 2 supporting runners he's about to offload to

I think Fin is injured
I hope not, as that could mean Atkinson on the bench and he's been dogshit since Wasps went belly up

Aw, did Fin come a cropper yesterday? That's a bummer.
Atkinson's quite Ford-esque - although nowhere near as good! - in that he's very much a confidence player. While Finn Russell can shrug off a missed kick and move onto the next one, Atkinson (and Ford) tend to let it fester.
That said, I like Charlie. He became surplus to requirements at Tigers once Shillcock arrived on the scene, and he was never likely to click with JvP as a half-back pairing, but I hope the kid will come good someday.

Agree with all of that, and the logical conclusion is that he needs to gtfo of Gloucester right now or he'll never feel confident again

Danno Agreed in turn, although I'm not sure where else in the Prem he could go. He needs an arm around the shoulder when things aren't going well, not Jack van Poortvliet screaming at him in front of everyone (which happened during his stint at Leicester, and pissed me off royally).

I think he'd be a good fit at Exeter in terms of team culture but possibly not playstyle.

Good call, especially as Chiefs are playing a more expansive (and less forwards-dominated) style of game now.

Initial reactions:
- Cunningham-South absolutely deserves to be there. - Tom Curry played half an hour of rugby in the entire season. Give him the summer off! - Glad to see Sleightholme given a shot. - Pleased to see Spencer there in place of JvP.

Looks good. I read somewhere that Itoje has or will max his playtime for the season, so not sure why he's starting (probably doesn't trust Ewels and Martin with the linout)

Kick-off is at 06:50 on Saturday, and I don't anticipate having dragged my carcass out of bed by then - anyone know whether the whole game will be posted online after the fact?

Looks promising info.rugbypass.tv/faqs"Live and on-demand" I'd register ahead of time, the site was pretty shaky in the WC knock outs

Cheers, Danno! Have just finished watching. It's hard to judge such a one-sided game. For most of the first quarter, England were dire; for the remainder of the match, they were dominant (albeit against a Japan side that seemed way off the pace). Conceding two tries in swift succession near the end was hardly ideal, but it didn't do much to change the big picture. Against the All Blacks in two weeks' time, though? That'll be another story altogether. (Oh, and Ewels is a total dipshit - that clear-out was awful.)
