I thought Dombrandt had a good season after the World Cup snub - not Hank Slade levels of quality, but enough to merit an England recall. Danno Who would you choose to play 8 over the summer?

Stick with Earl, someone has to take the shirt off of him and I say that having written him off at international level until this season. Mercer's face clearly doesn't fit, Barbeary is a bit 1 dimensional (very dodgy in defence from the little I've seen) and Dombrandt's ceiling seems to be 'exceptional journeyman'.
I think 6 or 7 is more of an issue with Curry and Chessum both injured, Lawes' retirement, Willis in France (where's Willis T. gone? I thought he was due back in December) and it being too soon for the young uns like Pepper and Pearson.

Fair comments, one and all. Mercer had a decent season, from what I saw of him, but his cause can't have been helped by Gloucester's dismal showing. Jack Willis was typically immense at the weekend, and he'd be a shoo-in if it wasn't for the prohibition on overseas players; not sure what's happening with Tom, who definitely merits consideration when he's fit.
I don't know why JvP keeps strolling into training squads with impunity - never really rated him, plus his attitude rubs me the wrong way.

Northampton vs. Saracens tonight, in the first play-off semi-final.
GO SAINTS!

What a finish!
Chuffed to bits with that, and not just because I can't stand Saracens - Saints have been excellent all season long, and they deserve to be in the final at the very least.
Bath vs. Sale tomorrow to determine who the other finalists will be.

That might be the last time I have to have any vicarious contact with Owen Farrell. Lovely.

18-15 in Bath's favour at the break.
A good half so far, and very much anyone's game.

31-23 to Bath in the end - another good game, and next week's final should be excellent. Can't wait!

Rumours that Jonny Hill got in a fight with a fan after the game. Such a wanker.

I'm sure Danno won't mind an oblique League reference just this once - as Zom posted in the Celebrity Death Thread, Rob Burrow has died at age 41.
Really sad, really shitty news.

Have Montpellier had a good few, eh, rehabilitation players over the last while or am I mixing them up with some other team?

Maouad the wifebeater, Chalureau the racial hate crimer, Billy Shitbags the double taser and now Hogg. They just need that one that raped a girl in wales and they’re all set for next season

Cup final today! Who’s watching and what is your chosen food and drink combo to go with the game?
Camden hells and pizza for me. I do also have some sausages I could whip up to go in a crusty roll I have. Maybe some brown with some mustard as well.

I'll be watching, for sure.
Ostensibly a neutral, as I quite like both clubs; however, on balance I'd prefer to see Northampton win.
Drinks-wise, I'm a total lightweight these days, so I just have one beverage to hand: a 600ml bottle of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. It's something like 7.5% ABV, so that ought to be enough to have me running shirtless around the living room before the final whistle. (Apologies for saddling you all with that mental image.)

A shame about the card for Obano, but it was as clear-cut a red as you'll see.
I'm sort of rooting for Bath now.
