Charlie Ewels:
- Became the first England player to be sent off twice; - Managed to get sent off in consecutive England games; - Returned to international duty after a two-year absence, only to be sent off after 10 minutes.
What a dipshit.

All this, plus Dan McKellar has left Tigers "by mutual consent" nine days before preseason is due to start.
Quite an eventful day in the rugby world.

Cheers, Danno! Have just finished watching. It's hard to judge such a one-sided game. For most of the first quarter, England were dire; for the remainder of the match, they were dominant (albeit against a Japan side that seemed way off the pace). Conceding two tries in swift succession near the end was hardly ideal, but it didn't do much to change the big picture. Against the All Blacks in two weeks' time, though? That'll be another story altogether. (Oh, and Ewels is a total dipshit - that clear-out was awful.) Pretty much my thoughts. Perfect game to knock some rust off as a team though. The first 10 gave them a spook and they answered pretty well. Marcus is taking some shit for the yellow but my Quins bias says he thought the ball had already gone. Missed a couple of kicks he'd usually land though,so the shirt isn't quite his yet (despite us conceding 2 tries as soon as Smith the lesser arrived, including one as a direct result of his shit tackle) Ewels will never learn, despite a very good season, so if he is ever picked again then that's a damning indictment on the ability of the England coaching team's ability to learn. Rodd was pretty bad. Baxter should have been the sub at least. Playing Cole and Itoje taught us nothing. Actually thought the front five were a bit bland outside of the setpiece. Some really nice glimmers in the backs though, if they start clicking they'll be incredibly dangerous

Yeah in South Africa as well! It's sweeter than 2015

Isiekwe brought in for Ewels, who has somehow only been suspended for two games.

Two is fine by me. I'm not a Bath fan and he's not good enough to worry about from the opposite side.
I think it's fair actually, it's a(nother) major fuck up but he's not a dirty player like Clarke, Farrell, Hartley, Kriel or Botha.

Gah 2 of the 4 Scotland summer games are on TNT. The other 2 are on BBC.
So 30 quid to watch 2 games, one of which clashes with my birthday party.

Tigers have appointed Michael Cheika as head coach.
I actually like Cheika - he's like an un-toxic version of Eddie Jones.

Pub for one, Dodgy stream for the other imo Does the party location have sports? They're on at 10pm and 11:30pm UK time. Plus finding a pub that actually puts Scotland games on in London is a fucking ballache. The one my birthday is at definitely doesn't (well only football or 6N, and really only Arsenal). I suppose there's a random chance the Faltering Fullback could have em on. But what kind of bellend sells 2 games to TNT when England and Wales are on Sky? Just what the actual fuck.

zephro I don't know whether info.rugbypass.tv/ (hat-tip to Danno) would have them, but it's worth a look - that's how I watched Japan vs. England last weekend.

In my ideal world someone, I guess like RugbyPass, would just get all the Rugby. Put it on one App/Platform, that would work internationally. Then you could just subscribe per league or team or nation or something.
The last bit seems far fetched as everyone would downgrade to going "Well I just want to watch the Glasgow/enter team games". But get the URC/Premiership/PWR/Top14/Champions Cup all in one fucking place. As I'm also not paying £31 a month to watch the 4 or 5, spread across several months, Glasgow Champions Cup games either.

Anyone up for this? Quality start and a welcome palate cleanser ahead of watching England in the Euros later (and especially after suffering through 120+ minutes of France Portugal)

Australia v wales predictively messy but fun. It’s either that or the alcohol in the pub I’m drinking.

A pretty good game, all told!
Feyi-Waboso is some athlete. A great head on his shoulders, too - he played more like a guy earning his 50th cap than his 5th.
Pleased with the results from today's other matches, as well. Hopefully Scotland will beat Canada to make it a clean sweep.

Feels like we should have nabbed that, even without Smith's kicking trouble - Spencer can fuck off with his caberet impression of Ben Youngs. Changed the tempo completely and killed us imo. Felt Slade had a bit of a howler as well despite some good moments (entire England career encapsulated) but no clue who replaces him right now. Defence is still bedding in. Breakdown needs some work.
But by god we look good when things are clicking. Can definitely beat anyone on our day and given where we were at 2years ago getting the ABs rattled like that is fantastic. Young Finn did well, Gatland was right to bitch about us capping IFW, CCS is making the loss of Lawes very easy to take, Mitchell was immense and our pack overall is starting to look really fearsome at times

Agree with all of that, although I'd still rather see Spencer there than JvP!
Smith's kicking from the tee has been pretty woeful of late - surprising, especially as the rest of his game is so solid.
George as captain, to be replaced with Itoje when George is subbed off, seems to be working well.
Furbank's a much better full-back than Steward in my view.
While Earl still has too much of the Saracens DNA in him for my liking, I can't deny that he's an excellent player.

Not a fan of the white collar on the All Blacks' shirts. It looks weird.

Earl breaking off the back of a scrum with Mitchell, Smith, Lawrence as options is absolutely terrorising oppo analysts, you could see the panic today
Randall next week please. Horrible kicks last game, sure, but he won't piss about and let the defence set at every single ruck forcing himself to reset for a box, he wants to play like the rest of our backs.

Quite. Had a feeling that would be it for him. Rodd needs to have the game of his life.
After a rewatch I'm a bit pissed at the ref and our leadership, NZ got away with murder at the breakdown (as well as the scrum). Twas ever thus I know, but doesn't mean I have to like it and George/Itoje need to get in his ear properly
