Ok, I can appreciate minge, minge humour, but am not ok with my posts being edited without my consent. It's the swear word filter being used for humerous effect, don't think anyone's actually editing your posts and they'll change back when the mods have had their fun

Not to start an argument, but I'm done with Elden Ring. I think I've had my fill of the series, having been an original who imported Demon's way back on PS3. I don't know if my taste has changed, or I just can't be bothered to be punished when I play a game anymore. Maybe I'll pick it up one day again.

Quick lads, pile on the Elden Ring quitter!!!
Looking forward to the next 10 pages of you being told you're playing the game wrong.

Worried I'm feeling the same way.
The first 20-30 hours were glorious, right up until the end of Stormveil Castle. I'm now 80 hours in and mooching around Altus Plateau but it's just not grabbing me the way it used to. It's starting to feel more and more like a Souls game spread as thinly as possible across an (admittedly) interesting open world. I'm noticing the negatives more and more - the uninteresting mobs roaming around, the reused bosses, the same 'discoveries' of caves, tunnels, catacombs and the like, the same ruins that look like all the other ruins etc. I've taken down around 30+ bosses and I remember four of them. Four!
I'm still playing it but worryingly it's starting to feel like a chore instead of actively wanting to play it.
Maybe I just need a break from playing it.

To me FROM are at their best when they try something new i.e. Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Sekiro ended up being my favourite FROM title - it's laser focussed and practically the opposite of what this game is trying to do. Elden Ring for me is basically Dark Souls 4 and what you've said above has made something click in my head - maybe I'm done with the Dark Souls series too. Never thought I'd say that, especially after importing Demon's on the PS3 like yourself!

I really enjoyed Bloodborne because it flipped everything on it's head, and I loved the game mechanic tweaks. I agree Elden Ring is pretty much Dark Souls, but open world. And that's the problem for me. I don't particularly enjoy the open world. I liked the linear aspect of trying to push through, rather than quitting and going to another area to level up. But perhaps that's an improvement that could can do that now? I wish I still had that Demon's set. The guide was pretty handy!

Hah! Not really finding it difficult tbh - easiest Souls game since Demons (so far).

Hah! Not really finding it difficult tbh - easiest Souls game since Demons (so far). If I may say one thing... Before you chuck it. Get into Leyndell (you mentioned you were pootling around Aldi's Plateau). If you still feel the same after, fair enough, but you should experience that first.
I very much get your critique of the reused bosses / ruins etc. I think for me - as someone who became quite addicted to the chalice dungeons in Bloodborne - this was no bad thing, yet I am one of the few that really enjoyed their time down there I think.

I'm at the beginning of the third world, and I think I'm gonna drop Lost in Random now.
The story is actually pretty interesting and there are some great ideas in there, but combat is painfully slow, and some of the dialogue just goes on and on just to pad the script (this being a Zoink game I'm not too surprised, but they really take it to the extreme here).
I'd appreciate this more if it were a normal adventure game rather than action, and if they trimmed the dialogue a bit.

Didn't give D:OS much of a chance and just uninstalled it after about three hours. Similar case with The Technomancer, which is by Spiders (Bound by Flame, Greedfall). Played it for about six hours and even though I don't mind it and I could say some positive things about it... most of the dialogue and quests have been by the numbers and frankly boring so far. Especially since the various areas of the city I'm in are relatively big and maze-like, so getting anywhere is relatively slow. Quest markers did lead to some confusion at first since everything gets turned on by default. The combat is fine. Difficult but fine. And - similar to Bound by Flame - the character progression still has just enough choice and - though relatively incremental - is still satisfying. Not least because of the difficulty. But I just didn't have enough of a reason to continue.
For people that don't know what Spiders are doing: They are basically making Bioware-esque games with difficult 3rd person combat. That's fine, but aside from the combat the only other thing that kind of manages to capture my attention a bit, is the somewhat interesting setting.
I guess I'm suffering from backlog pressure a bit. At some other time years ago I might have continued, but nowadays unless I actually clearly enjoy something on some level I let myself bounce off of things much more readily now.

Death’s Door. I can’t be bothered with the last boss. What a pain in the arse. Spent close to two hours trying. I can’t even go back and level up anymore which is my fault…
