The west aren’t going to do anything. As long as the sanctions are as pathetic as they currently are and China aren’t getting involved then they’re a waste of time.
They’re all scared to be the ones that escalate this into something bigger as well so the military aren’t going to do anything. Our politicians are probably spending more time working out how they can sound tough and like they’ve won something when they actually have done nothing.

Are the mods going to ban him from Font Geek? Steady, we don't just ban people just like that you know.

We don't want to be hasty. Font Geek's aggressive nature probably pushed him to this.

Our crack cyber team are currently on the case trying to scramble his favourite spotify playlists running order Threatening to downgrade his account to the one with adverts now apparently. Apparently he uses the download to device option quite a bit as the signal in the palace can be a bit patchy so this one will hurt.

We’re on standby to remotely hack his LG C1 while he watches his favourite Comrades and Frazierski episodes, gradually lowering the volume to make him think his hearing’s going

There is a very long way between Ukraine getting invaded and the start of world war 3. If he were to carry on and try and take one of the NATO nations back then it would be a very different matter. Though he has implicitly suggested nuking the first to retaliate :/

FFS guys, at least let me boot up Elden Ring before I, and everything I care about, is turned into a carbon husk.

Worldwide coordinated sanctions haven't stopped N Korea in 40+ years. Western only ones he's had time to prepare for aren't going to harm Putin, maybe a few peasants will starve but so what? He doesn't care.
The main thing is he we will take Ukraine and not a single other nation will attempt to defend it. Then he'll start chipping away at one of the neighbours that isn't in Nato, rinse and repeat until the border is all Nato countries and he's grown his territory massively.

Grim. Despite the threat of this looming for the last two months, my gut reaction to reading the news this morning was still shock. Another waking moment of WTF to file alongside when Trump won and the Brexit vote result.

I think the plan is “let the people suffer any consequences while I do what I need to stay relevant” Sounds awfully familiar...

I’m not particularly surprised at any of Putin’s actions, he’s always wanted Ukraine to be rejoined with Russia. He tried it with a puppet government and that didn’t work so this is his next approach.
He has spent the last decade + interfering with western politicians and governments, funding some, propaganda wars for others.
For the last month he’s seen the west aren’t serious about stopping him. They’ve done nothing except try and sound tough in their own countries.

From The Guardian -
'A Downing Street spokesperson said Johnson had assured Zelenskiy the west “would not stand by as President Putin waged his campaign against the Ukrainian people”.'
An assurance from Boris Johnson. The Ukrainian people must be very relieved. Hopefully they won't be too disappointed when they see the west infact stand by as President Putin wages his campaign.
Current status UK armed forces - standing by (in a warehouse in Kent).

"Such consequences that you have never seen before in your country" MAD wouldn't hold out either in this day and age. The US is in Russia's pocket and frankly so are we. Doubt China would retaliate even if they disapproved. So Would France, India or Pakistan do anything?

The thought of our military stopping Russia is laughable, and our ability to cooperate or lead any coordination is minimal at the political level.

China aren’t interested in getting involved unless it’ll make them money.

So fucking depressing, utterly despicable and the modern political world has no decency or morals. The world over , the only thing the cunts care about is money . Italy are supposedly against lots of the sanctions that would effect them such as luxury goods, effective sanctions will hurt both sides but why try and save peoples’ lives if the cost is your mates on the Prada board not making as much money? Piss poor sanctions that will not deter him in anyway so Russia will just fucking take Ukraine, killing a lot of people on the way. Really fucking depressing.

The sanctions so far then:
- Cancel Putin's Tesco ClubCard
- Scramble his favourite Spotify playlists
- Ban Pavlova from restaurant dessert trolleys
I think that little lot should show him we mean business

Lots of condemnation from world leaders, that’ll show him. So do you want them to send troops in? Because then it really could turn into WW3.
