Anyone played Crow Country? Fancy picking up something retro-ish and seen some good press about it. Yes, see my post above! I loved it all the way through. Great homage to 90s PS1 survival horror games.

So I decided against the mortuary assistant as it looked like yucks and scares for the sake of it. I did however grab The Withering Rooms as it’s on sale and based on my brief look this morning it looks amazing.

So it’s 2.5d with a bit of a roguelite and castlevania thing going on, with rpg mechanics where you can go for certain builds etc. it’s also a bit clock tower with a dash of souls in there and it seems very cool indeed.

Just finished From Ants to Zombies: Six Decades of Video Game Horror by Bitmap Books a fairly beefy compendium of influential horror games through the ages. Insightful and passionate writing and an interesting categorisation where games are grouped by theme: haunted house, survival horror, interactive movie etc. Obviously most of the heavy hitters are there but there were a ton that I hadn't heard of so I've come a way with a huge list of games to play, many of which are free or dirt cheap on Steam. I'm particularly eager to try some of the modern retro games like Orion Prime which was created using the System Shock level editor. There's too many interesting games to list in detail, but someone made a list here: backloggd

P.T. is ten years old as of yesterday. That’s nuts.
I still have it installed on my original PS4 HDD. Played it only a few weeks back and it’s STILL terrifying.

I’m watching a playthrough of P.T. Now. It hasn’t got less scary. Even watching amiable YouTubers play is a harrowing experience.

Why not in a weird way? I’m offended. Fine. I think of you in that Dark Souls 2 kind of way, in that special way that can only be described badly though the message system. Try tongue, but hole.

Been keeping an eye on silent hull for a while, iirc one person did most of the game, hopefully he can arrange a console port
Started Lamentum (was free on GWG) and its quite good so far, its 2.5d horror game inspired a little by res evil 1

Cor, Hollowbody looks like a 10 hour game that I'll only be able to play in 20 minute bursts.

Let us know how it goes for you. I have had my eye on it a few times, but reviews left a fairly mixed impression.

Let us know how it goes for you. I have had my eye on it a few times, but reviews left a fairly mixed impression. It has nice horror atmosphere but the shitty 8 bit era combat and for some reason there is instant death spikes later on one section is really annoying. Your first weapon is knife and of course short range and on easy its manageable as most monsters die in 2 hits but the first boss fight is awful as the fire poker is slightly better but the boss has crappy 8 bit animation hits and lost a lot of health and the dodge is shit against the boss
Pistol ammo is very rare and been putting that in the item chest, its not awful game and its atmospheric horror game but the combat is so shit, you can run past monsters but when you are forced to fight its not fun. No idea how the dev(s) thought this was good
