First of all, stop slagging Bloober Team, I love their stuff. Layers of Fear is fucking immense and their Blair Witch is well decent as well. Their stuff is technically polished and shows real imagination, with a particular flair for all sorts of digital mind fuckery. On that basis I think they are a good fit for Silent Hill 2.
Dark Souls 2 is the best game ever made and I WILL fight anyone who disagrees in the pub car park of your choosing. I'm greased and ready.
Ascension looks shit.
I also played Amnesia Rebirth for a few mins last night and it's well good. Might work through that first before I get The Bunker. Not really feeling A Machine for Pigs so might bin it. It's not enough Frictional for my liking. Chinese Room are decent but I really hate the lack of sanity shit which defines the series really doesn't it.
That's all. Love you all. Bye.

When you call yourself Bloober Team it's like you're issuing a warning to the World, it already sounds like a toddler's euphemism for an unfortunate brown trouser incident.
A creator of walking simulators getting to work on Silent Hill 2 is like an art museum hiring a blind, mentally handicapped person to restore a priceless painting.

Studios can make more than one style of game, you know. Seems a wee bit harsh! Fair enough they wouldn't have been my first choice, but I'll be giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I haven't played Observer, so I can't say anything about that, but Layers of Fear was pretty cliched. Mostly just a predictable haunted house-ride.... Granted, with some cool "digital mind fuckery".

Personally I think they are the best fit for this. Rest of you fuck off.

Their credentials for the remake were apparently that they're huge fans of Silent Hill 2. Shame that hasn't come through in any of their games then
Love you, wunty

How about a compromise? Bloober Team Dark Souls 2 remake.
I'd have no worries, it's like hearing that something like Bubsy 3D or Shaq Fu was getting remade by a dodgy outfit. They ruined Bubsy 3D? Oh no! It's a tragedy! I think the games industry is going to crash...

The sequel to Stasis, Stasis: Bone Totem came out yesterday. Point and click horror adventure. I enjoyed the developers previous work (so actually crowdfunded this one) but not had time to try it out yet. Early Steam reviews look positive but there is a distinct lack of hype for it... Available on GOG and Steam. May end up with a console release in the future (Beautiful Desolation did but the Stasis games didn't) Thanks for pointing it out. Hadn't actually heard anything whatsoever about it. It really is low key. Did a search for reviews and found only one. I thought Stasis was better known than this and Beautiful Desolation got some attention... voxelsmash.com/stasis-bone-totem-review/

The new Amnesia is reviewing pretty well. :x It's making me want to play it, but also ffs Dark Descent was firm brown pants territory. The prison level is forever seared into my brain...

Yep. Fucking Internet. I hate it sometimes. Was all set to grab this but the combination of wanting to play Rebirth first and the boy taking me into going halfers with him on diablo means I’ll wait a bit. It looks awesome though.

"Why show relevant trailers, reviews, etc when I can show thumbnails of spoiler material?" /YT search algo"

What games did bloober make/remake? I thought they were a respected studio I assume The Medium is the relevant one for Silent Hill (they also did Observer and the Layers of Fear games). A lot of people moaned about it but I mostly enjoyed it on release. Gameplaywise it is quite different to SH though.

I'm not Bloober's biggest fan myself (think their games tend to range from mediocre to ok, though I'd say Blair Witch was a pleasant surprise). Still, I think they have it in them to create a great horror game. Maybe what they need is some creative supervision.
Thing is... would today's Konami even care about that?

So just a note if anyone is interested:
Murder House, Nun Massacre and Bloodwash are all on sale and cheap as chips on PSN right now. They are fucking phenomenal games and legitimately terrifying so I recommend a purchase for all three.

I had been considering Amnesia: The Bunker, but the steam summer sale is only a few weeks away now, so I'll just wait for some half-decent sale I guess. Maybe I will feel more interested in Horror/imm-sim in some months or so.

I'm more interested in the game where you have to murder a house.

Massacre committed by a nun!
In all honesty though, Puppet Combo do amazing games whether developing or publishing. The retro stylings make them creepier than they would otherwise be as well and downplay just how sophisticated they actually are.
Basically everyone needs to buy these games.

Played the Amnesia: The Bunker demo for a bit and it really is a bit much. Just as horrifyingly slow and tense as Dark Descent and Rebirth. I can imagine myself giving this one more time at some point, but the formula - even though I appreciate them going a somewhat different path this time - isn't quite what I want anymore.
It's just not nearly as fresh and exciting anymore as it was back with Dark Descent. I already know that Frictional are really good at getting inside my head, Thank you very much.
