Conga's would work too. Guitarist says I'm obsessed about it and that I should be focusing on the upcoming gig

I've just bought a tape emulation vst. Not 100% why, but I fancy some old school type effects on some tracks. And it was only 29 dollars and came out good in reviews.
Random music purchase of the day.
Oh, and a friend has been storing up track names of loads of my favourite songs. She got the pub to play it on my birthday. I've now downloaded that playlist and use it at home a lot. Awesome present- saves me looking for the bloody things all the time

So close! Fucked the nut, filed too deep. Only have one to hand, ordered a few more. Was hoping to finish assembly so I could set it up over the weekend. Oh well!

So we did that song again. Same result. I asked what the tempo was and it was about 125 or something. I said to whack it up to 160 and we did it again. And it's definitely better. Guitarist is moaning like fuck as his riff is now harder but it definitely worked!
Didn't think of the tempo. Wood for the trees etc.

quadfatherThat's very cool indeed man. I love the animated single art (and the artwork itself) as well.

Cheers - it's pretty good isn't it - the synth player is quite a talented artist

Yeah, pretty good that. I assume the full version isn't 42 seconds long?

Hah no, that's just a promo we're sharing online to everyone We're going to release it just before the gig on Distrokid to get it sent far and wide and just see what happens really. Might have a few posters up when we play too, maybe.

Finished the strat, thought I went a bit deep on the nut again but seems to be alright, lower than any of my other guitars but it’s not buzzing. so low it’s almost like a zero fret. It’s nice but also a bit disconcerting when you barely have to touch for the cowboy chords. Monty’s ‘62 pickups are really nice sounding things, can recommend. Bit weird playing a strat with a 7 1/4” fretboard and teeny frets, never had one and never really used a trem, but I’m liking it a lot more than I expected to. Getting good sustain for a strat and the wood is lively feeling, got lucky with the parts for sure

Next one’s a scratch build with a through neck, that’ll be fun. Get to build something with a proper scale length, don’t think I’ll ever be truly at home on a fender

Brilliant viola lesson today.
A couple of those “something clicked” moments, which are most welcome.
It’s weird being new to an instrument that is superficially so similar to something I already play.
It reminds me of the time all those years ago when I moved from lead to bass guitar.

EMarkM Nice one man. It's great when stuff clicks. Talking of new instruments...I bought a load of music books for my saxophone a couple of months ago. Not even opened them yet This weekend dammit.

Yeah, 24 11/16ths, that’s home for me.
All my builds have been bolt on neck partscasters and they’re generally 25 1/2” scale which I never really played until recently. You can get shorter scale conversion necks but a big part of the fender tone comes from the longer strings. I’ve done 4 builds from parts now and they’ve all been gearing up towards the scratch builds I’m planning

I took some of the electrical bits off the Washburn SuperStrat, cleaned them and put them back and managed to to get some noise out of it.
It still has am intermittent short somewhere that is beyond my ability to find apparently.
But I had a fun little shred on it this lunchtime. I imagine if one were a metal-type player, it'd be a lot of fun to play.

Sorry just read the actual thread and you have built it from scratch. Looks amazing. I’m had an all rosewood telecaster project going for years. Still need the headstock cutting....

Didn’t quite build it from scratch, it’s an Allparts licenced neck and repro 60s body. All pretty much 62 spec, apart from the neck is thick like a 50s and it’s got a 5 way switch. Works well though, makes a decent sound
