I haven't got a single star fragment yet, but I just saw a thread on reddit saying how much more common they are now. Is that true? I found heaps just skydiv8ng at night, much easier than the old method where they disappear on you when you're 5 metres from picking it up

Huh, I haven't seen any while skydiving and I do loads.
I've seen about 3 fall in total but miles away, and I haven't been able to get to them in time.

I know there’s pretty much nothing else to said for this game, for all the praise it has had heaped on it, but damn it’s just so good! It’s so huge, but at no point has it felt overwhelming. There’s always something to be do, whether you want something substantial to aim for, or something to just pass the time after a long day at work. And there’s so much of it, but yet there’s no pressure to do any of it. It’s amazing.
I’ve just come out of what is really my first substantial roam through the Depths. I’ve found treasures, mined ores and built some weird as contraptions. And yet it feels like a completely different game to the overworld, where I am still compelled to explore every nook and cranny for Shrines and Koroks. It feels even more vast and whereas up top I am always trying to find my bearings, down there I am just happy to get completely lost.
I’m only just hitting the 60 hour mark, but I have to say that the hype and reviews have been overwhelmingly justified. As an adventure game it’s in a league of its own. Miles out in front.
In reality, it’s almost 10 years in the making too, if you take into account that it’s been built directly on the shoulders of Breath of the Wild. It’s like Minecraft and Fortnite in that it’s been a work in progress for the best part of a decade and as a single player experience, no other game has ever had that kind of development cycle. I just can’t imagine another developer coming close to the quality and depth of this game.
Not until AI software development is in full swing, anyway.

It is amazing. The boy took the Switch to his friends house on a sleepover last night and I was bereft. I wanted to do Fire temple dammit! (Although tempted to teleport away and mess around again in the depths near the starting area tonight, now I’ve got the teleport set up)

If you haven’t spoken to Josha about the Statues, that is worth doing. That was the turning point for me that really won me over with the depths.

Took on a quest to grab photos of the tablets on those little star-shaped islands all over the sky... Then I made a detour to the Thunderhead Islands and I'm pretty sure I came close to starting a main quest from the middle by accident On the one hand I hope there's a way to clear up the storm there a bit because I couldn't see anything, but it's so cool that at the same time I don't really want to

I never tried going there before the game tells you to, but maybe you can still get to the end?

Oh THAT'S what those star islands are for. I didn't find that quest.

Are all the plaques in the sky? Only found four. Dude is in Lookout Landing then heads to Kakariko.

Are all the plaques in the sky? Only found four. Dude is in Lookout Landing then heads to Kakariko. Yep. There are exactly as many star-shaped islands in the sky as the plaques the quest wants you to find. They're really small on the map, though (and one of them is so close to a Construct arena that it almost looks like an extension of the arena). Also a few of them break off and fall when you step close to the plaque, so you might have to chase them down. They all fall straight down though, so basically just dive right after them. Edit: Oh, and none of them are near the Thunderhead Islands, the detour I took didn't have anything to do with the quest. The only one that might be obscured until you clear the story there is the one west of the Rito Temple, otherwise they're all visible on the map. And of course the one above Lookout Landing doesn't count, it's the one the researcher already has.

It popped up in Lookout Landing after I'd finished a temple... I don't think I was the one to land on the star island above it and make it fall, but you could try that if the quest hasn't popped up for you, just in case it's needed. I'm pretty sure it drops on its own after you finish a temple though.

Am I the only one who thinks the water temple was much shorter than the others and super easy comparatively?

Yeah water temple was a peace of piss. Also I never used the companions ability whereas the wind and fire ones I've found super useful.

I must say that sounds like heaven. Just done the fire temple and by god that needs more shortcuts to unlock as you go through it.

Think I got lucky and managed the intended path as that temple made me fearful of getting stuck/lost. As it played out I never found any need for shortcuts as I didn't ever need to backtrack.

Bah, just come across a spoiler online. Seems really difficult to avoid these days with casually browsing Reddit/YouTube . Wasn’t even looking for Zelda related stuff.
Never mind!
In other news my fan powered boat flipped upside down and I discovered you can use the fans as propellers underwater.

Yeah, fire temple wasn't too bad for me either, but I'm guessing I did it in the intended order. Finally at the lightning temple now after faffing about for ages. Probably going to take me weeks of quick attempts on my commute now that Diablo is here.

Made quite a cool amphibious craft using big wheels and planks as paddles. Not particularly practical, as it lumbers inelegantly over land, and paddles slowly over water, but kinda cool that it works.
I might try smuggling that motor out of that one shrine with the fans and see if I can make it even faster

Once I found a couple of places to ascend in the fire temple I was fine. Also one of those tracks just keeps looping and that took me a while to figure out.

I think the fire temple was my favourite temple, if you're just taking the actual temple bits by themselves. If you include the bits leading up to the temple, the Wind Temple is the best by a country mile. Though I also quite liked (possible endgame spoiler) the Spirit Temple in that regard.

Ehh I officially don't like the companions as much as BOTWs champion abilities.

I mean, nothing compares to miphas grace. Botw became stupidly easy once you had that.

I'd like it if you could use their non-combat abilities without them actually being out

Same. I just get them out when I need them. Too many times I’ve been picking up plants / critters only for me to accidentally send a flaming boulder steaming into the trio of sticky lizards I’ve been trying to snag

I ended up running with just Lightning chick and Chick chick in the end, small enough that they didn't bother me and rarely crowded. The last one is fun if you tool it up but still doesn't compare to causing mayhem with weapons on construct heads and auto carts
