Don’t think we ever had a dedicated thread for Anime. So here is one for any Anime posts across all the streaming services and media.
I watched OddTaxi on Crunchyroll the other week and it was very good. Quite different from the usual suspects and has a great twist in the last episode. Give it a go if you need a change from the Shonen shouty stuff.

We did too have one on the old forum!
Finding the current season very meh. Hamefura S2 is ok, not sure I'd rate much of the rest.

Oh, I have been recommended Odd Taxi by Crunchyroll, good to know it's worth watching. Though I can't help but think of the other taxi every time I see it and it makes me less keen.

We always had the Anime Appreciation thread, split off from the old group days. It was rarely used aside from Roguey and myself having polar opposites on every season.
OddTaxi was an absolute highlight last season, and even sweeter given how average this summer has been. Think I'm only really following To Your Eternity (which has dipped itself) and Uramachi Oniisan (black comedy about a gymnast turned kids TV presenter who is just DONE with everything).

I haven't got through 3 eps of Eternity. I just couldn't relate at all. Maybe I'll finish it some day.

My Hero Academia is a weird one. It's not a genre I normally bother with - long running shonen series tend to do nothing for me. But it's so well made that I've some how stuck with it.
I was prety sure that season 5 was the "jump the shark" moment - it threw world building out the window and went for that tired old trope of a tournament arc. And then... it goes and massively improves again in the second half.

I think that helps with the quality of the art/VA and it helps that it has a really strong story to back it up.

Also, nobody told me the final Evangelion movie is on Amazon Prime Video! Don't have time to watch it tonight, but will definitely need to see how Hideaki Anno is going to troll us this time.

I turned off evangelian on the last episode, it was the probably the worst ending I have ever seen (barring that Ian Irvine book series - a view from the mirror which legitimately had me tearing the last book to pieces in anger). Is the replacement movie worth watching?

There are three different endings to Evangelion. The original TV ending is what happens when the studio runs out of money and the director has a breakdown.
Then there's End of Evangelion, which came out a few years later. It promised to be a "proper" ending and is certainly better animated than the TV one, though still has a heavy degree of audience-trolling. It also has Shinji having a wank over a sleeping Asuka (seriously).
Then there are the rebuild movies, the fourth and final of which has just hit Amazon. Not seen it yet. The first three movies were very solid, though definitely more "reimagining" than "remake".

This is going to sound odd, but it's sort of thematically appropriate in context.

Can this covertly have manga discussion in as well as anime? Recently read the first volumes of Mashle and Dai Dark. Enjoyed both quite a bit!

I thought this was some strange slang or something at the time, and only today I realised I'd downloaded it about 3 weeks ago. Totally forgot about it so thanks for the reminder. Tried Dungeon of Black Company this afternoon, s'alright. Typical isekai fare mashed with digs at shady corporate culture, and caught up on the mindfuck that is Sonny Boy. I can see some of the metaphorical stuff they're throwing around, but by god it's messy (in a good way ?). Time will tell.

So, I got through the final season of Titan and… there’s going to be a finaler season, isn’t there? That wasn’t very final at all…

I don’t even know what to say to that. Still, it was a lot of fun, mostly. I hope they can keep it up.

Ive been watching haikyuu it's alright I guess. It's been a while since I've watched a sports anime, like over a decade maybe 2. Hajime no ippo. So it's nice to take a dive into a one.
Might give Prince of tennis a go too

Ive been watching haikyuu it's alright I guess. This hurts. I suppose I've spent more time with it, but yeah, hurts. Haikyuu does hype perfectly, and the setups and camera shots it pulled off during the S4 finale....just majestic. Have you tried Chihiyafuru ? The ultimate sports anime.

What? I like it, it's alright. I've watched up to the first episode of season 4. I just found it hard to buy that they made it to the finals on their second attempt, kind of took me out of it. Still enjoyable though. I don't hate it, just personal preference for a little more grinding.

Started getting back into anime after a (very) long break thanks to Netflix - really like what I've seen of One Punch Man, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia.
Beastars, Erased, Terror in Resonance, 7 Seeds were OK.
High School of the Dead, High Rise Invasion, Cagaster of an Insect Cage were all pretty disappointing though.

I know it has divided a lot of people but honestly I really liked it. I also watched two part documentary on the making of (also on Prime) and Christ, it’s amazing they ever finished it!

So, hit a milestone last night. Started watching One Piece with the missus in Feb, skipping filler arcs because fuck filler arcs all my homies hate filler arcs (and the foxy pirates arc, no one has time for that shit).
We crept over episode 500 last night. That's not too bad for a few episodes a night! It has marginally overtaken our watching schedule though and are lamentably behind on everything else.
What absolute banger animes have I missed from the last couple of seasons then? I think I've caught a majority of the ones worth watching mind you.

I have more free time than usual nowadays, so this would be a good time to rewatch Serial Experiments Lain and Boogiepop Phantom.
I also tried the first episode of Big O, but it was too much like creepy Bruce Wayne with random mecha tacked in. I'm just not a fan.
Should really watch some actually new series once in a while. Think the most recent one was Machikado Mazoku, and we are talking more than two years ago.
