Valteri pounding around the desert in his exciting new downgrade whilst his former teammate is heading to the palace to be tapped with a sword.

I'm still hoping they get to settle it once and for all, Talladega Nights style on foot.

Phahaha getting to that stage isn't it. I'm trying to work out if the "court drama" is all part of the plan

I'm hoping this is the start of a new trend.
3/4's through a race they should declare whoever's in last place wins
You need to perform 5 donuts to qualify
Swap pit lanes every 30 seconds

Anyone else still angry haha Do you know what I am. Throughout the season and going into the race really wasn't bothered which one of them won (just a general fan with a preference to Danny Ric) but christ this one stinks. I'm almost in denial and expecting another race this weekend. They way the celebrated with barely any airs and graces irks the most and listening to Horner on his TalkSport phone in on Monday evening had me spitting feathers. I use the word sparingly for exceptional cases but he really is a c**t.

Anyone else still angry haha Actually moreso than after the race to be honest. The more I review it the more I think how unfair and stupid it was. Changing the rules to make it exciting etc is just not on. It genuinely may be the cause I stop watching now.

Trying not to let it annoy me, but failing. The worst thing is there's no good remedy. You can't take the title off Verstappen now, it would be hugely unfair. Whatever else happens, you have to leave the result as it currently is - i.e. hugely unfair on Hamilton. It really was an unbelievable shambles.

Not particularly angry to be honest. It was a shit way for the season to end, but in real terms it was an appropriate way for the season to end.
They need to sort out the stewarding / penalties etc for next year... but they wont.

Yup, still angry, but that isn't a surprise. I'm not quite over the injustice of not penalising Schumacher for Adelaide 1994 yet and that was 27 years ago and less clear cut.
Disappointment I can deal with. As an Arsenal and England fan, for much of my life it's been the default outcome from big occasions.
Injustice doesn't fade as quickly, and Spa and Abu Dhabi were possibly the most unjustified, unsporting, manipulations of the Championships that I can remember.
I can't stop being angry about either until there's recognition that what happened was morally and ethically wrong, with serious failings that resulted in meaningful and material consequences for the integrity of competition. A full apology combined with changes plan to avoid repeats and I'll get over both quite quickly. Otherwise ask me again in 28 years time.

Which I think will be mercs angle. Let max keep the result but fight the process and decisions made. Lewis going quietly and accepting this would be very "off brand" for how he's conducted himself.

So where do we stand on the foot race? Probably on the track. At the beginning anyway. Then you have to run.

Have to say I'm quite surprised Merc haven't withdrawn their notice of intent to appeal by now, assuming they intend to do so as per the speculation. Into the last 24hrs now to submit a full appeal or walk away.
Makes me think they are going to proceed and are using all the time available to compile evidence. Probably got De Vries on the simulator as we speak pretending to be the safety car driver whilst Toto plays the role of Masi.

I guess with it only being the intention to lodge an appeal they can just keep schtum until it passes. If that's what they intend to do I don't really blame them for not putting out a press release that amounts to "We give up, the FIA win".
I think they are just going to come back with every intention of absolutely smashing everyone next year. In one sense I would love to see their sass if they were to do so but on the other hand, plz god no.

They might tie it to Hamilton's knighthood today. Come out tomorrow and say he's too big for all this shit, which would be a great PR move.

Agreed. Let it pass in knowledge it will go down in history with a huge asterix next to 2021.
Interesting listening to other drivers pit radio during last 2 laps. Ricciardo’s in particular

I mean, my initial reaction is they can foxtrot oscar with the implication that what happened was just a misunderstanding, and a 'analysis and clarification' exercise is sufficient. Even their own stewards upheld part of the protest that said procedures weren't followed. We are all perfectly clear on what happened and it's just insulting people's intelligence at this point to suggest otherwise.
Masi made a massive mistake and then the stewards scrambled to cover his arse.

I would be staggered if that is enough for Mercedes to not proceed. I was expecting at least an admission that mistakes were made, and restructuring will be done before next season.
This release reads as if they are bracing for the court case and therefore can't admit any fault and just wanted to put out 'something' in a desperate attempt to not let it overshadow their ceremony tomorrow. Wishful thinking.

Mercedes have nothing to lose in proceeding, they have an awful lot of public support and the FIA has approximately fuck all.
Will they win? Probably not but not trying means they can't.

The more times I read it the angrier it makes me. Basically, they appear to be blaming everyone who was outraged rather than themselves.

Mercedes declined to take part in today's official FIA photoshoot as constructors Champions and are apparently considering withdrawing their staff from attending tomorrow's gala. Chronologically, this was before the FIAs press release so I guess that may have provoked it, but if so, you'd think it would be worded in a more conciliatory way.

I really hope Mercedes take this further. I understand the 'what's the point' and 'bigger than this' arguments, but I would lose respect for them if they just let it lie. It's actually about the culture of the sport as a whole.

And merc have withdrawn. Assume pay off and the fia statement was enough. Just as much part of the problem now. Was a real opportunity to make a real statement.
