The good thing about Verstappen being on pole, and having soft boots on, means at least there's very little chance of him pulling any fuckery on the first corner. He'll be miles down the road, I imagine. Championship settled by strategy and execution, it looks like. Feels to me like Max has the momentum - so it all comes down to how long those softs last, and if any of the back markers cause red flags by planting it in the wall randomly. Sadly I won't get to watch the race, so I'll just have to use my imagination. That is a bummer Phats, church all day Sunday?

On the bright side, Red Bull seemed to have good race pace... though that was before they swapped Verstappen to the low downforce setup.

You could not have asked for a better setup for the race. Max having wing troubles, having to move to plan b due to a lock up. Hamilton good but not outstanding. Bottas being too far back to allow a dual strategy. Different tires for the start.
You couldn't script this and have it believable.

I won't be able to watch the race either, but will try to avoid news and watch it in the evening instead. Always nice to have the option of fast forwarding though

If and it's a big if, Red Bull's long run advantage from practice holds you'd think we're in for a similar race to last year and it's Max's to lose. Looked like he had so much more grip in sector 3 and didn't lose anything on the straights even without Perez's tow. I can definitely see a situation where Lewis can't keep within DRS range through the end of the lap.
Quite funny after all the talk of Mercedes' 'spicy' engine advantage that Red Bull have so much more inherent downforce that they can afford to run a skinny wing and negate it. In hindsight they played the media well.
Equally I don't think Merc really got the tyre working yesterday, and maybe with more laps it'll come to them and be more even. You know Lewis won't give up so hopefully he's got the car to turn the screw today. If he has a clear tyre advantage at the end and is closing, the ingredients will be ripe for a repeat of Jeddah.

There's lots of talk of punishments if Max takes Lewis out, but what about Perez? If he took Lewis out presumably there's no way to dock points from Max for it?

That little customised title intro was great. They are milking this and I love it.

Yeah, Perez to send one up the inside of Hamilton.

On the mediums Lewis could be P5 easily by turn 3.

Why didn't Lewis cut back underneath? Max was too deep.

Touch and go on this specific decision, but karma for Brazil.

Controversial if this is what decides it.

Has Christian Horner ever admitted to anyone in his team doing anything wrong ever?

Never seen Leclerc's head cam like that... Nice. Looked like a video game camera you only get in replays, looked fab.

Bit puzzled at why Verstappen was so slow off the line, he's on softs on pole and lost the place straight away.

Exciting start. I am torn whether I now want an exciting race or whether I just want Hamilton to romp to victory.

Pushing your opponent off the track but staying within the lines yourself didn't help Norris or Perez in Austria, to be fair.

Right decision. Max forced Lewis off track and didn't make the apex himself.
Said it before: Verstappen is the dirtiest driver in F1 since Schumacher.

I am amazed how slow verstappen is on these sorts. I was expecting him to be keeping up a lot more given there is supposed to be a .6 second advantage between the compounds.

Didn't give the whole advantage back.
Seems like it will mean little anyway. Mercedes is absolutely leagues quicker and would have won anyway.

Yeah he knew exactly what he was doing there. Would be hilarious if Brazil ends up his undoing.
