Imagine if Piastri doesn’t jump out of the way now 🫣

Runs him off at T1 dropping him behind Max.

I love this circuit. Maybe my favourite to drive in games.

McLaren are effing this up totally. Holding Lando up, giving him dirty air rather than just making the pass when they had an easy opportunity.

Piastri does fuck all for last few races and then turns up to take points of lando lol.
They won't be able to swap if it stays like this as well.

Cast your mind back to when another Australian driver lunged his teammate into T1 here when they were going for a title. Didn't end well for either of them.

Well done Oscar. I'm not sure that keeping your teammate in dirty air so long proves a point but whatever. Glad he did what he was asked to.

Did Max exceed his delta there? Must have been close as otherwise Piastri would surely have been further up the road.

What a fucking meal they made of that.

Max under investigation. If it's delta related that's a slam dunk, but I guess if it's for erratic or potentially dangerous driving under the VSC that's more subjective.
Already got a 5 place grid penalty for tomorrow. Another three perhaps?

Credit to Piastri. Norris isn’t used to having a team mate that can cause him trouble. I know Riccardo got that win in Italy, but besides that Norris is usually capable of getting himself out of trouble. I think Piastri is going to cause more headaches for Norris next year.

Don't forget Norris had two years against Sainz. He's mostly had strong teammates with Danny the surprise anomaly.
I suspect Lando is faster than Oscar round here. Oscar deserved the win today for getting the job done in SQ3 when Lando made a mistake but I suspect if Lando had got ahead he'd have shown he has the pace. Just going off FP1, SQ1 & SQ2 and what we saw when he was in dirty air behind.
Given Red Bull's pace I don't think McLaren can afford a repeat tomorrow whereby Piastri costs Lando tyre life and race time. Fine margins will matter. The spoiler race suggests Max is faster than Oscar over a stint, but I don't think we really saw what Lando can do.

Possible delayed qualifying now due to weather

Definite delay in the qualifying, it's hammering it down. Going to be a while I think given the weather radar.

Rumours starting to bubble, horner leaving Williams garage. Latest is they're trying to poach sainz with I assume a big cheque to Williams. Would mean they can keep colapinto.

Sainz deserves it, but would he get equal treatment. I do love him and he deserves more than Williams. Not that Williams don’t deserve more themselves.

Still seems more likely it was about Colapinto to me. In a cost cap era how useful is more cash to the team? Obviously they are businesses but I'm not sure money = success to same degree as before.
Williams are in a really strong position. If they are serious about getting back to the front why would they accept a driver downgrade?

Yes my point wasn't that Red Bull can't pay, it was more that Williams may not be able to convert the cash they receive into car performance equivalent to or better than the potential uplift from having Sainz's behind the wheel.
From what I understand, Williams are already spending to the full cap. They have an infrastructure disadvantage due to years of underinvestment and are lobbying to be allowed to spend there to catch up (outside the cap). However if the answer remains no, they are basically losing a great driver and getting a bag of cash they can't spend.

Qualifying in 10 minutes time. Apparently the race is being brought forward to squeeze into a pocket of good weather.

Yup Qualifying 10:30 race 3:30.
Really interesting scenario as suddenly parc ferme is on race morning so they have a far better idea of conditions. Apparently it's going to rain all day so the teams will be sticking on all the downforce and removing cooling. Likely to be quite different to the spoiler race, and render much of the setup work to this point moot.
Although Lando is great in the wet, I'm not sure this is good for him on a weekend where Max has a penalty.
Got a suspicion it'll bring Ferrari right back into it.
