Oh come on, get on with it already. The cars are out the way, the barrier is fine. Stop stealing race laps.

Lando can do this with DRS.

Lando can do this with DRS. Maybe not. Thought it might just be tyre warmup issue but looks like the Red Bull simply has the best pace in the dry.

Get in there Lewis, seems appropriate at this time.

Good race, who knew having some inclement weather changing conditions could make it more interesting?
Well everyone really.

Great race though. Really loved that.
Think Max had the dry pace anyway in reality and very unlikely Norris could have kept the Red Bull behind regardless.
In the moist Norris had that race easily. In a class of one for a while there. Russell looked very good in full wet.
Still not really sure how fast the Mercs actually were? Clearly made a step, but I'd say there was more evidence to suggest they were third fastest team than anything else. Not convinced the win was there for them even without the errors.
Top five all going off at various times shows how hard it was.

Russell being incredibly reckless there. Lad gets a bit over excited too often. George reminds me of pre-World Championship Max a bit. He's not quite that aggressive, but he seems to be trying a bit too hard like Max used to. Desperately wants to show what he can do, then goes too far. Beating Hamilton round here fair and square in same car is no mean feat though (might even be a first?). When/if he finally gets a regular race winning car he'll calm it down and bank the points more often. Today's podium plus Leclerc are basically the next decade of F1.

Agree apart from I’d say pre 2021 max rather than pre WC max. Hamilton is clearly unengaged. This really is a wasted season.

Great race all round today. I like Canada, mostly seems to throw up a decent race.
Jamie Chadwick also got her first win in Indy Nxt today as well, which is great to see.

I thought the way George just turned in on Oscar and hoped he'd yield was very 2021 Max! Could've waited another lap but was too impetuous. I'm getting a bit worried that Hamilton is simply having his Schumi/Vettel/Kimi style age related decline. He's never previously had a lengthy period where he's looked slower on race pace than a teammate before. Hope you're right and something is going on behind the scenes but he's been unhappy before and still been fast, consistent and clean.

If it was 2021 max he wouldn’t have come off second best, Piastri would have been in the wall 😂 I think Hamiltons head is elsewhere. He needs re-engaging by a new challenge, beating Russell for scraps isn’t enough. Only next season will we see for sure. I think the ultimate quali pace is going though.

Just seen that Ham said it was "one of his worst drives". I'd probably agree in terms of not maximising the car. Bad qualy, failed to pass Alonso despite being seconds a lap faster and costly mistakes.

We kind of need her to do well, and she's clearly got the talent. Anyone know where I can watch highlights? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zxv1ZIjCjboin terms of the level of racing, the only driver I've seen race previously is Caio Collet who was in FIA F3 for a while. He was generally a decent top ten runner there so if she can beat him in a straight fight reasonably often that certainly suggests she could do well in FIA F3 too. Of course if she stays in the US it will be easier to get to the top tier of that ladder and there's also more chance of her getting well paid and having a decent career with endorsements and the like. In many ways, it's a the sensible option. However there are recent precedents for female drivers in Indycar so she wouldn't be as much of a pioneer and would have to win a race just to match Danica Patrick's achievements. She also needs to win a couple more races in the second tier just to equal what Katherine Legge did in Formula Atlantic almost 20 years ago. The top European teams have totally ignored drivers from Indycar for the past twenty years and the FIA license points you get from winning in NA make it obvious how little those series are respected. There basically isn't a route from Indy to F1 anymore. The whole point of W Series and F1 Academy was/is to get women into the top echelons of European racing by encouraging participation and providing a shop window for them at the F4 rung on the ladder. Its frustrating that clearly the best female driver of the first generation didn't really have a fair crack at the next rung up within Europe. Her season in Euroformula Open was pretty poor but there were mitigating factors (not least Covid disruption). I'm kind of hoping that Jamie will do well enough in the US to 'come back' to a decent F3 drive or maybe even an F2 drive (would likely need major Williams or Andretti backing for that though). Seems unlikely she's got the talent to make it to F1 (very few do), but just competing in the top half of F3 would be enough to demonstrate the value of the female series and lend them a lot of credibility.

Anyone else watching Le Mans? Absolutely fantastic this year. Really loving the LMdH class. The cars are quick but twitchy with the push to pass racing of the previous era neutralised a fair bit. The BoP (which I'm not really a fan of in general) has been done in a more nuanced way (below 150kph and above 150kph tweaked independently) which has created hugely close racing.
Lots of safety cars has helped with ensuring that 9 cars from 4 manufacturers still on the lead lap with 3hrs to go. Still bit of rain coming in periodically. Admittedly I've not followed Le Mans for as long as F1 but this is the best race I can remember in terms of a contest. Really unpredictable and a grandstand finish looks likely.

I’ll be watching it next week. WEC upload all the races to YouTube a week later so that will take up my time for the next few weeks!z I’ve only really been following it since last season but I agree, the level of competition in that time has been fantastic. Can go from race to race with a different manufacture winning. I also like it because there’s always one car that has a bad start and it’s always fun to see how far they come back up the order. Always have someone to root for outside your favourite car/driver line up.

I've been checking in on and off, and it's been so good I will try and stay up for the end. The race has had a bit of everything and now it's getting wet again.
The four-hour safety car even gave me enough time to go for a Sunday roast.

Looks like there might be 4 different cars capable of winning this weekend. No doubt Max will find a few tenths when needed though.

Bizarre incidents at the end of FP3.
Stroll appeared to semi-intentionally understeer into Hamilton after he felt he'd been blocked.
Then Leclerc definitely intentionally drove into Norris on the straight after also being somewhat blocked.
The Leclerc one was hugely out of character but easily the worst thing I've seen him do. I don't see how there can be any defence. Just brazen, using his car as a weapon against a very confused Norris. Should be a significant penalty. Shades of Vettel and Maldonado.
Stroll penalty probably depends on data. Look to be like he intended just to squeeze him a bit to make a point and then cocked that up because he's Lance Stroll.

I don't like this precedent of drivers only being reprimanded for dodgy driving in Practice sessions. We're getting closer and closer to a car being wiped out. Stroll and Leclerc should both be losing 3 places imo.

Both only given reprimands for erratic but not dangerous driving and no sporting penalties or points.
If you cause damage it was obviously dangerous and in both cases it was intentional.
The FIA is directly responsible for the decline in standards. Continually send the message that it's a bit naughty to use your car as a weapon rather than anathema. Ridiculous. Kids copy this stuff, nevermind the fact that retaliation in F1 is now sort of accepted.

Stroll literally admitted to using his car to intimidate Hamilton in the official release! Reprimand. Fuck off.
