The nuclear submarines still running XP are feeling pretty smug right about now. Some dream of making it as far as XP.

Show me a year when the school holidays don’t result in airport delays. This is literally my day job, But yeah fuck it what do I know. The thing you have to remember is that there are always two responses to something like this. A well funded place who knows what they are doing with tried and tested DR will just shrug it off like you seem to have. And then there’s everyone else, probably the majority, who underfunds IT, kicks the can down the road and has just been caught with their fingers up their arses.

Waitrose are still cash only because of this so I couldn't buy an ice-cream even though it's like 30 degrees outside.
Don't tell me this isn't a major fucking disaster.

Even well funded DR ready places are going to have problems when there’s geographical spread and remote workers.

When something like this happens my thought is with the ones at Crowdstrike as the news started coming through. I checked in code one time that had an adverse effect on a project and felt awful for days after. Can't imagine what it's like for them.

I don’t think gray even had to leave his desk to fix this. Just another Friday.

All the door security stopped working at my work but since the wifi, Teams and Outlook were still up we were expected to just get on with it.
Then the pharmacists messed up my prescription because they could only see the top item per patient and I have three regular ones.
I did not eat any sausage rolls.

This is 1.30 in the morning thinking, but I read that as "I have a sausage roll prescription"

Rishi would have been on the phone to Roger Crowdstrike straight away and would have gotten this nonsense sorted out immediately.

Boris would have had photos taken of himself walking around the MS London offices in hi vis and a hardhat.

Liz Truss would be staring worriedly at a black box with a little red light on the top.

Yep, all sorted. Starmer finally got his act together and gave gray a call.

I am onsite IT at my work, only had a couple of people who rebooted when Crowdstrike shit the bed and fooked their PC
Lucky enough someone who actually knows what they are doing provided a fix, get around bitlocker then admin on and rename a file in the Crowdshite folder.
Bosh!

Bit worrying you could just "get round" bitlocker, no?

Well I say get around it, using the standard methods and still involves recovery keys.
Saying that, I think they cracked Bitlocker a while back I remember reading.

Interim report is out. The dodgy definition file was online for an hour and 18 minutes from just after 04:00 UTC A bug in the testing system meant that it didn’t detect a fault in the file.
