I don't think anything in the game was ever at risk of censorship, but it makes for an easy clickbait article on a slow Monday morning.
That said, YouTube has apparently been demonetising videos of the demo, based on the dismemberment rather than the fanservice - perhaps there were genuine censorship concerns on that front?

It’s a bit sus to even have to say this. What would have been censored? No idea! Guess it means they can drop the pixelation or her well sculpted rear end?

The character's inability to actually walk properly without gliding on the ground. That's because she is so hot that she permanently turns herself on to the point she glides around of her own vaginal moisture. I'm pretty sure that's scientifically possible.

Honestly, if they're demonetizing those and not, say, Rise of the Ronin stuff (just my most recent example) that's kinda screwy... Unless Stellar Blade somehow has more, but you get arms and heads getting chopped off every other kill in Rise so I doubt it

I also think this game will fade into obscurity after a month. It looks perfect as a bargain bin pickup at 20/30 euro. Then again, i'd rather fight chaos, start playing armored core 6 or buy Lies of P.
Its in a similar situation as Lords of the Fallen which I never bothered to pick up.

There’s a fairly graphic limb amputation cutscene. CERO don’t like that in general but somehow it’s gotten through with a D, which is an advisory 17+ rating when ordinarily that’s the kind of thing that pushes it up to a Z, where there’s a requirement for the purchaser to be over 18. As you’d expect that hammers sales as those games are off in a separate part of a store kept aside from the main stock, and on PSN you need to directly charge to a credit card to buy them.
As an example, Resident Evil games are released there in both censored D and less censored (but I don’t think entirely uncut) Z versions.
Rise of the Ronin has D and Z versions as well, with the borderline comedy gore in that with heads popping off and vanishing after 5 seconds being the differentiator.

Oh, so it was being threatened with being censored for non-sex pervert reasons? That been suspiciously left out of the discourse.

in fairness I’d be pretty salty if I’d been working on that Japanese version of Dead Space remake too. That thing got pulled really late. I think he used to work for Ubisoft too and CERO really didn’t like the Assassin’s Creed games.
Obviously there’s a difference in degree but I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony leant on them a little bit and it was marginal enough to get through.

The wider argument now is turned on Hades 2 where the culture keyboard warriors are asking why a character like Aphrodite gets praised and excused in the gaming press when she's naked except for her hair covering her naughty bits. Described as "safe horny". Some will argue it's because Hades has a diverse cast of characters hence gets a pass, while others go so far as to insinuate that it's a Western game so it's fine, but Stellar Blade is from an Asian dev therefore it's not. The debate gets stupider and trust more sites to hammer this comparison in an attempt for pointless clickbait. You can like both.

Ah yes. Aphrodite. The literal goddess of love and lust. Who also never sees direct combat btw. But yeah, she has as little excuse to display herself as a special agent in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with mutant aliens. /s
FFS why can't we (general) just agree that the outfit choices in Stellar Blade are just like any other fanservicey outfit choice ever and that that's fine?

You can always trust internet keyboard warriors to compare apples with oranges and pretend they've made a point.

Neither Stellar Blade (more photo-real so worse imo) or Hades 2 (more cartoony so no as bad but still unnecessary imo) are correct but agreed there is much worse a few clicks away on the internet largely unregulated so efforts to crack the bigger issues should be where it’s at.
With internet porn having a significant impact on how our young develop sexually it saddens me that stronger regulation has not been undertaken to date.

For all those bemoaning the sight of naked men or women, please stop playing COD, Chivalry 2, Cyberpunk, Dead Space, Diablo, the list goes on. You will turn in to brutal killers if you have not already. Better ban Zelda, Link has a very short skirt.
Get a fucking grip.

I don't think anyone is bemoaning it, I'm just confused why Stella Blade has become some culture war lightning rod and being held up as a victory by the "anti-woke" lot despite not doing anything new, design wise.

Eve can wear less clothing for all I care, it's just the weirdos around it acting so weird around it. Not enough to find porn around it, they need devs to actively spoon feed them it in the game. It's weirdos saying stuff like "This game doesn't bow to any pressure from Western ideology and it's impact will be felt for years to come", when I've seen less skin in an Onechanbara game nearly 20 years ago

Outside of gaming though, absolutely no one gives a flying fuck. We all know gamers are morons so it is nothing new.
It's such a closed little bubble where people on Reddit think they are making some grand stand against perceived erosion of freedom.
Outside of gamers small minded world, everyone else is "you what now?"

The only ones who need to "get a fucking grip" on this front are those who've already spent way too long getting a grip over it, if you catch my drift.
I haven't seen anyone on the 'other side' of this imaginary culture war take a hardline puritanical stance, or claim that Eve's character design is in any way offensive; indeed, the strongest stance I've seen is that it's kind of lame and cringeworthy.
By contrast, Reddit is full of posts from people proudly proclaiming that they've bought PS5s just for this one game...
... And I don't think it's the gameplay that has got them so excited, somehow.

Still odd that hacking limbs off is fine but a jiggly arse is controversial somehow.

It's such a closed little bubble where people on Reddit think they are making some grand stand against perceived erosion of freedom. Thought these were the people we were all taking the piss out of? And yeah, I don't think anyone is really bemoaning the inclusion of titillation in video games (beyond Stellar Blade being a particularly cringy example of it). In fact, I would welcome more games dealing with sex and sexuality (again, Stellar Blade is not a good example of that). It is more the way some people are holding it up as some sort of saviour of gaming culture when there are dozens of other games with similar aesthetic and really it seems like a pretty average game (and I was quite looking forward to it before the demo).

The only people to whom it's in any way controversial are the ones who've made Stellar Blade their cause célèbre - nobody else seems to care.
EDIT: Beaten to the punch by drhickman1983, who made the point far more eloquently than I did.

The strongest opinion I've seen from the other perspective is some Kotaku writer saying the game appeals to unwashed incels and anyone that likes it should be investigated as the character looks underage. Which is a ridiculous cringy opinion and it is one opinion. People's egos being that fragile they can't handle it and so act this way.
I'd genuinely be curious to know what the reception is in Korea, where I imagine none of this is going on. There was some video from Maxim Korea that chimed in on the topic in favour of the weirdos in defense of it but I think the real model does work for them which they've been hyping up.
I love that the games out in a few days and nobody's talking about the gameplay.
