Thing is Raw isn't even the WWEs highest rated show now. Smackdown is king of the crop.
Plus Raw has some nasty competition. Definitely need to lose an hour.

Yeah none of this is about aew "beating" WWE in viewers, that would be a long way off if it ever happened. The story here is totally about AEW and how successful they have become in such a short time. The only metric of success for TV viewing is to compare them to a rival product in the marketplace.
I have a mate who today texted me to say "lol funny how you never mention when raw beats AEW in viewers" and I replied "because that's not news". He hates AEW and doesn't get why outselling WWE in new york, or getting nearly as many viewers as raw is "big news" in pro wrestling.
He thinks the wresting journalists are all biased for reporting on it.
It's like Manchester United beating Yeovil FC isn't headline news but the other way round it is. Even more so if Manchester hadnt lost in 20 years.

Don't hate it but it's no way near as good as fans make out and the fact people get so defensive when people are critical of any of it is pretty funny. People would be calling WWE out for lying about tickets sold but will tell anyone they can that AEW sold out on Wednesday despite plenty of pics showing entire sections empty. Twitter was funny when the ratings came out.
Wrestling is still in a bad place no matter what. Raw is dreadful most of the time and Smackdown is clearly WWEs best show by far.
NXT 2.0 hasn't been bad but something feels off about it. Think it needs another 100-200 fans in the building for better atmosphere.

Don't think so. AEW are saying it was a 20k sell out and didn't look like any social distancing was in play.
Anyone watched the Kanyon episode of DSotR? That Mortis look was great. Sad how messed up he was and prone to violent outbursts

"sold out" means they sold out all the available seats, which they did. Those pictures that fanboys took great glee posting were seats with obscured view.
It's all ridiculous anyway. Any fan of pro wrestling should celebrate the success of aew whether they like the product or not.
The fact a new federation sells 20k tickets for a new York show results in people trying to take away from their success by posting pictures of empty seats is laughable. Like, yeah but what's the bigger story here? Even if aew had sold 10k tickets for a new York show it would be an amazing feat.
It's not about "AEW" it's about the fact there is a major new player in the industry for the first time in 20 years.
Edit - and WWE have a long proven history of lying about tickets sold and deserve calling out for it.
For me, the biggest is thing is that AEW feels like a promotion that loves pro wrestling, WWE is a corporate machine that makes its profits from pro wrestling. The fact that the word "wrestling" or even "belt" are not allowed to be uttered within WWE says it all.

I’m just happy there’s more good wrestling on telly.
AEW, Smackdown and Impact all have some great stuff going on right now.

I need to catch impact at some point. Lot of people online seem to be praising it in recent months.
How can an Extreme Rules PPV only have 1 ER match? All others are standard matches

What you fail to realise is that competition makes all these companies better to watch... honestly don't understand wrestling fans and their tribalism. Wrestling is not in a bad place. Vince is in a bad place by not listening to what the fans want. Stop trying to push your narrative.

A bit late but that Danielson and Omega match was so good and one of the best matches I've seen in very long time. It was pretty much the perfect booking when you compare it with Vince's Balor booking last night lol.

Compare the opening 30 minutes of Dynamite last week to the opening 30 minutes of RAW from 2014-2020 when nine times out of ten it would open with a boring scripter in ring promo. Leagues apart.
So glad the by product of aew is WWE getting a kick in the arse but it's too little too late and ultimately their head booker is still at 77 year old man. 30 years on from 1990 and we still got Vince and fucking Brother Love pulling the ropes.

I was fairly lukewarm on the Danielson/Omega match. Danielson was great of course, but I've just never been all in on Omega. He's very athletic, but he doesn't suspend my disbelief the way an HBK, Bret, Jericho, Seth or AJ do. I feel that way about all of the Elite guys.
The highlight of the week for me was the Cody/Malakai match.

All others are standard matches Impact suffers slightly from being filmed in front of 30 people in a garage but the actual wrestling is easily comparable to the big two and there’s fun stuff happening across the card

A big UK event is so overdue. I watched my SS92 video until the tape went funny.

I was at Wembley for Summerslam 92. Bret v Bulldog was amazing.
The lasting memory though is of my dad hoisting me up on his shoulders so I could get a better view of the Randy Savage v Warrior title match. It may not sound like much but he’s broken his back the year before so it must have been incredibly uncomfortable for him. Plus he hated wrestling so it was a double sacrifice for him. Things we’d only do for our kids, eh?

They have been planning this since before covid so hopefully it actually happens now. Would love the Rumble to be honest. Needs to be one of the main 3 PPVs

Wouldn't fancy a UK stadium show in anything other than summer really.
Hoping AEW also make a UK show or two next year.

I’ve seen people in a few places saying AEW should do Craven Cottage but I can’t imagine them being able to run a stadium show with a single UK show at midnight on a Friday and an army of passionate Reddit users.

I'm gonna guess Summerslam and/or any live AEW tapings would be at "usually" UK times. I thought that was a big reason WWE have been reluctant to host a major ppv here as it would mean it would be live in the USA in mid afternoon. Ok for those Saudi shows but maybe not for Summerslam. 1992 nobody would have been getting spoilers to not such a problem having a lag for the PPV broadcast.

I did go to a RAW taping once in the UK but can’t remember what day it was on. I assume it was recorded at the weekend and went out to the US at the normal time on Monday.

These new lads debuting NXT 2.0 look so big compared to Hunter’s indie skinny boys. Chunky football physiques on them all.

Worth it though for Steiner who's going to be huge. Hopefully they actually call him Steiner when he moves to Raw or Smackdown then let him cut that maths promo.
They definitely need more fans at NXT and dim the lights a bit.

The NXT big guys thing makes it so clear that Vince and Pritchard have taken the helm. Vince honestly thinks only the Hogan body types can draw, despite Bryan and Punk showing otherwise. Even Austin was not particularly tall or jacked in comparison.
Interestingly all 3 of the above pretty much got over initially despite Vince, not because of.
To me it's so weird how radically NXT has changed. I'm gonna give it time but there was a 3 or 4 year period where it was the hottest thing in pro wrestling so find it interesting they wanna move as far away from that model as possible.
