For a long time Universe mode was my go-to podcast game. Just brain off and hands busy for an hour. Then I got a bit tired of the games never changing or improving and now these two are my first in ages.
I do have a Fire Pro too but its too fiddly when all I want to do is play a string of matches without needing to GM it myself or go in and out of the exhibition mode menu.

Fire Pro World was decent. It just took me about 10 hours to really get the hang of it. But if I dropped it for a month or so, I would be way off on timings.

It does so many things that I’d wanted from a wrestling game but it just didn’t click with me. I suspect if I wasn’t retreating into being fairly casual and still had the time and brain power to invest it could’ve been great.

Fight Forever had the basis of a decent game, just needed to be fleshed out more. The idea of putting in mini games stupid. I read Omega pushed for this? but could be BS. The sightseeing and eating requirements in the career mode were such a drag. Just let me cut promos, do backstage assaults and wrestle matches. |

Is it weird that the era I look back on most fondly are the covid empty/semi-empty arena shows? also, had a look at the 2k24 grind skipper and it’d cost £8.99 to unlock all the wrestlers and arenas hidden behind the in-game store and progress unlocks? And the season pass is £30? ffffffuck that |

Stupid cunting WWE 2k24. Seven year old been desperate to do two player all week, told him we'd do it on weekend. Just fire it up for some arcade fun...
A) 75%+ of the roster is greyed out and unselectable unless you grind, or pay.
B) Of the 25% you can actually use, 90% of them are laughable trash tier B show fodder like Tyler Bate etc.
C) There's no way to filter the roster list to just show players you can actually use so he's scrolling through countless pointless names every time asking me why he can't be Taker, Rock, Kevin Owens etc etc.
Such utter bullshit. Imagine paying £70 at retail, getting home and being faced with this farce. Always expected it to be the embodiment of corporate money grabbing but this is just flat out and cynically anti-consumer.
Is it too much to get what you pay for nowadays? Guess they need ways to railroad you into the £100 editions.

If you pay £9 for the accelerator you only unlock the wrestlers from the in-game grind store.
If you pay £30 for the season pass you get them and the dlc characters (including the cast of Pat Mcafee’s podcast! And Post Malone!)
Neither tier of payment will unlock the wrestlers you’ve got to get through the Showcase mode (Macho, Steamboat, Andre, Angle, Bret, Warrior and others plus a load of variants for guys like Hogan, HBK and HHH)
There are no wrestlers to unlock in MyRise (just some arenas and custom parts), MyFaction (their microtransaction card game), MyGM or Universe modes.
The dlc pack with Perfect, DDP, and Muta isn’t out until November.
For a PS+ freebie it’s a potentially surprisingly expensive experience. I’d have been very pissed off if I’d bought it at launch and found half of it gated off in this way.

I spent so long trawling through fansites and clickbait working out how all the unlocks worked and how to get everyone.
Considering a one v one exhibition match gets you under hundred points and the grind store is about 1000 points per character it’s pure mobile game bullshit economics to try and force you into paying to access Batista, Taker etc
Looks like I’ll be missing out on a lot of old favourites this time*
* there is also some dlc which isn’t included in the season pass if you fancy paying another tenner for Dusty, Stardust and Billy Graham

Basically in order to use all the content you've already paid £70 for, you need to spend an extra £40+ on dlc and then on top of that, be logged into their game for hundreds of hours to grind out the unlocks... Or spend more money on their virtual currency. And the £100 digital (!) edition starts to look like an attractive value proposition relatively speaking. By design.
Bring back the days of Super WrestleMania on SNES!
