I'm going to laugh if they move Odyssey Jones to SD and just continue to never use him for anything.

I can't stop laughing at the ending segment for Dynamite. The family guy style punch selling, the trousers ripping, the entire roster and dad just coming randomly out. I'm sorry if you think I'm shitting on AEW, but damn that was a miss from me, but still somewhat intrigued to see where this car crash goes.

He sold a shot to the stomach like a knockout to the head before flopping like a fish.

See the internet fans are already being fickle and planning/hoping when Cody and Swerve lose the titles.

The problem is that there's so much tribalism over the internet, that you can't criticise either product.
I could easily pick apart Damien Priest on RAW this week. He looks absolutely out of his depth as World Champion, and I'm cringing in his segments backstage with all his merchandise around him. It's like some sort of wanking shrine.

Hope they turn Finn face within the next month rather than drag it out.

I don't think anyone wants to talk wrestling with us anymore baihu1983. We've ruined the thread

I've definitely stopped enjoying this thread, not due to the critiquing of aew because we want it to be better and there's loads wrong (I do that myself) but rather people shitting on it because they've wanted it to fail since the start (going back to EG forum). If an AEW match gets a high rating then it becomes a "dunk on Meltzer" narrative even if other journalists are equally full of praise.
Constant Twitter links to overt tribal childish troll/fanboy accounts or just posting made up numbers to make aew look bad for example. Not seeing any positives in it at all, which is ridiculous. They present a style of in-ring wrestling that you don't see elsewhere and wrestlers can have matches they can't have in WWE due to the Feds house style. For better and for worse.
More often than not visiting this thread leaves me with the vibe that when some people see for example that AEW viewership is down they celebrate the fact as opposed to lamenting it. Every wrestling fan should want AEW to double their viewing figures.
But yeah, when I foolishly click through into some of those Twitter accounts I just think "wtf is this toxic nonsense". Again, those accounts exist not in the hope of helping aew succeed but actively rooting for them fail so "WWE wins , marks".

Priest really doesn’t feel like a champ. He’s got the air of one of those guys whose cash in feels more like an obligation than a coronation. Imagine if he’d somehow managed to lose the case to Finn, Truth, Dom or Nick.
Cody seems like a more beatable champ than Roman did but you need a babyface to have odds to overcome otherwise you end up with a late-80s Hogan/mid-period Cena situation where you get superman squashing chumps every other week.
I like that AEW are following through on Perry. Hopefully TK is written out of it quickly and we get more focus on Jack and the Bucks carrying the story. It’ll be interesting to see where it leads. I don’t think he’s ready to be champ yet but they’ve got to give him a strong opponent. Maybe someone like Darby or Mox makes sense in an anti-authority mold with the VCs going mad with power over the coming weeks.

That's what I like about the champs now (especially Priest), they seem beatable. I'd use the draft and the time before Netflix next year to swap the titles about a bit, get a few "former champ" prefixes on Knight, Jey, Sami and then do a Day One style draft in the new year to get the Raw Roster you desire. They've got a set date, should use it to establish a few names more.

I want AEW to succeed, as a great alternative, as that's what I originally bought into. I'd been drifting for years after Hogan/Bisch came in and ruined TNA/Impact, then finally NXT came about, and I thoroughly enjoyed the black & gold era. Then that sort of fizzled out, as Vinnie meddled. Then AEW happened, and I felt thrilled to see talent I was familiar with, but not so much watching regularly match wise thrive on national TV.
The problem for me is that they went back on what they set out to become, and it's just a glorified independent. I was sold on every win matters.. until it didn't.. I enjoyed some of the shock reveals, until it was overdone, then it didn't really matter. The one consistent good thing about AEW has been MJF, because put him with anyone, and it's fucking great, and the reason why? STORY... LINE.
Perhaps last night is a good sign, that they have got a major storyline brewing, because having great match after great match doesn't breed interest in me.

Weren't they always advertised as a main stream independent promotion going for an independent style though?

6 months or less title runs are best imo. In fact I would say only Gunther fits the long title reign now days.

A Mania is on my bucket list though. Having it in the UK would at least make it convenient.

I'm loving that Tony Khan wore a neck brace to the NFL draft, this is the type of carny shenanigans I'm all for.

Only saw him say AEW is Pepsi and WWE is Harvey Weinstien and an evil juggernaut.
And people wonder why...

Anyone hear the speculation that Vince will want to start up a new company? He sounds very confident that he will be cleared and that it was a mutual relationship that turned sour once it ended.
But even if it does turn out to be that, just fuck off and enjoy retirement.

I get what they wanted to do here but Cody had to wait so long to make sure he missed Melo it looked like a botch which isn't how you want the champ looking

No mention of what he said….? Just saw the pictures, didn't hear about the Weinstein comment till this morning. Although, it's not inaccurate, but hypocritical considering AEW are giving work to Ric Flair and Jay Lethal. Wrestling is riddled with monsters and we as fans try to gaslight ourselves that it's not to continue to enjoy it guilt free.

Edge probably already has his next "Everything is good, fun and we're all happy" interview lined up.
I've no issue with AEW and check out and enjoy most of the recommended matches but Tony doesn't half make it difficult to build my interest beyond that. Think that's the general consensus though. Anytime something goes well or something starts building interest he can't help but say something stupid.
