Was it ever going to be anything other than a 402 star match?!

Just getting a bit more tired of Meltzer lately. In the end it's his opinion, and how he perceives what wrestling should be. Having a bunch of fans rush out and post about how he's claimed it to be the best match ever... I wish we could just step away from him. Because as Ospreay said how Kurt Angle never got a 5 star match is mind boggling. In the end it's just some random guy who is a historian.

If he gives something 5 stars (or higher) it generally is a great match, but his ratings are perplexing a lot of the time outside of that.
And quarter stars are really stupid, if you're giving a match 4.75 stars you're just being a twat.

But I'm guessing Dynasty was good then if we're talking about star ratings?

I much prefer Wade Keller's analysis from Pro Wrestling Torch. And don't think those cases where Meltzer gave certain matches One Thousand Stars he was going against the grain of discourse. That match last night (which I haven't seen) seems to be getting unanimous high praise for example.
Absolutely agree it's crazy that Angle never received a 5 star rating for one of his matches, but there's several I personally would have given top marks too.

I'll certainly be watching the match later on tonight. I think it's something that has been spoken a lot lately, in that the star rating match vs build/storyline. I'm not taking away anyone's enjoyment in how they consume wrestling, but for me I'll always be more invested in a build/storyline, over 5+ star match.

I watched WWE Treasures yesterday. Hogan came across as quite humble.. I was actually shocked.

Do you think Jericho and Tony tell themselves the fans are saying Boourns? Or that they are into his character as a heel?

It's a bit of an odd one for sure.

Christ on a bike that Ospreay v Danielson match lived up to the hype, the best wrestlers always find new ways to surprise you and get you engaged. The counters and transitions were unreal.
Solid enough PPV up until then, every other match the wrestlers really had to work hard to get the crowd going but they managed it each time. Surprised how good the trios and Strong v O'Reilly ended up being in spite of their lacklustre builds.
Will watch the rest tomorrow.

Ospreay/Danielson was sensational. PAC/Okada was excellent too.

I really enjoyed the PPV. The Okada/PAC, FTR/Bucks & Ospreay/Danielson were great. But for me personally as much as I enjoyed the Ospreay/Danielson match, I just find the selling way off. That's my main criticism . Sure, it's that style of wrestling, but it's more a criticism of modern wrestling in general. You take a big bump.. please sell it, instead of getting up 5 seconds later like nothing happened.
I've only watched a bit of RAW so far. I'm looking forward to seeing where Gunther goes next. It's just a shame it's in bloody Saudi the King/Queen of the Ring..

The selling in the Ospreay/Danielson match was off?
I personally found it to be great in that match in particular - they really let the match breathe after the big moments and injuries and impacts effected how they wrestled the rest of the match.
Fair enough in Bucks' matches and a few other Ospreay matches, but I think the Danielson factor really helped with the match's pacing.
edit: match match match

I don't mean the entire selling was off, but some spots imo they didn't sell. In the end it's not my type of wrestling. I can appreciate it being a good match, but it's still something akin to Japanese style is it not?

Japanese style wrestling is what me got back in to wrestling so we're probably viewing the match from different perspectives, I love those adrenaline rush spots (in moderation) but I can see how they can be immersion breaking for some.

Becky as champ again :/ Better option than Liv but based on the last couple months I honestly think Nia would be the better option. My guess is she won't hold it for long and Liv will be the next champ.
Is it me or do the New Day feel out of place in this new era?
Gunther as KotR is a good 'crown for him to have' but I'm not sure how long they can keep the WHC off him.

They certainly need to book better women's stories on RAW. I think towards the end of Rhea's run, it was getting a bit rough, as I don't seem to recall too many feuds?
Yeah New Day has run its course, but I guess they stick around for the merch/kids. I mean the Good Brothers are still around.. and they do what..

I find it odd that they literally only work house shows. Guys have the best contract in the world.

Cameron Grimes gone from WWE. Not sure why HHH went so cold on him as soon as he debuted on Smackdown.

They debuted as a team 9 years ago which is wild considering its basically been an unbroken run since then with only really one significant gimmick adjustment

SD/Clash combo tickets range from £345-2,946 :/ Holy moly, imagine if you had kids who wanted to go to see it live that's a serious financial hit. Is that for the cheapest tickets?!

Think the cheapest was just one £300
It's pre sale only at the moment so looks like only the combo pack is available but that's still a massive piss take. For that price they should be putting on a Summerslam style event at least with a jacked card.

I know concerts and shows are expensive anyway these days but only releasing combos to start with is really taking the piss. Metallica did the same when they toured 72 Seasons. Two nights in every venue but you had to buy tickets to both so the cost was ridiculous.
I don’t understand how there is an audience for these kinds of events. As in, who can afford this? The Pearl Jam shows this summer are over £100 more than they were when I last saw them nine or ten years ago.
