Guess the leak has meant Naughty Dog is going to release the details themselves, I imagine this was going to be announced at TGA in a few weeks like Part I was supposed to be and that leaked as well. ND don't seem to be great at keeping lids on their plans. Thought I'd create thread rather than continue to clutter up the general PS5 thread. It was an especially bleak bit of gaming.
I'll still eventually bite at a tenner if that's going to be a permanent price, as that's surprisingly decent of them. So much for the £70 naysayers (I'm actually amazed they're wrong)
I only played it shortly after the PS5 launched, so probably a bit soon for a replay and I still have part 1 to get through.

Yeah for a tenner upgrade I'll bite but I really do think Sony need need to move away from the series for a bit or at the very least announce the sequel.

With a bit of luck it'll actually be £5 upgrade price as well, which is what happened when they finally allowed the first Spider-Man to be upgraded to Remastered cheaply rather than buying it for £20 through Miles Morales, that was a $10 price for the US.

Technically a phenomenal game… but I’ve played through it twice already and both times despite my awe at certain points it’s just so goddam oppressive. I’ll bite at a £5 digi upgrade of a £25 PS5 physical price with a trade in on my original copy as I’m sure when TLoU3 arrives I’ll want another full re-run.
Please ND… find a way to balance the relentless oppression in 3!

I thought it was great, I won't play through it again as I rarely replay games. If the roguelike mode is decent I could well give that a bash though.

I thought it was fantastic. Sure it was bleak, but not every game needs to be a barrel of shits and giggles.
Would (un)happily replay it, but think I'll hold off for the PC version. Pity this announcement doesn't seem to include the release date for that.

Are they not doing the multiplayer mode anymore? Closest the PS had to Gears multiplayer.

@rummonkey I don't follow the news, but reportedly Sony brought in some Bungie devs to help ND with the multiplayer mode; not sure if anything is close to fruition though.

I was thinking of doing another run through of this game so this "extra" version for a tenner is pretty tempting. I'll wait just to see if it's a stable 60 fps first though.

Given it's going to be running the same engine as the Part I release the graphics modes are probably identical, stealing the table from Digital Foundry : 60Hz modes 120Hz modes 120Hz + VRR modesFidelity (4K, 30fps) Fidelity (4K, 40fps) Fidelity unlocked (4K, 40fps+) Performance (1440p, 60fps) Performance unlocked (1440p, 60fps+)
As for the online game, Bungie were asked to look over all of PlayStation's multiplayer focused stuff and they questioned the long term viability of TLoU Online in its current state and they didn't think so. Which is a shame because the artwork suggested something along the lines a Division/TLoU like mix which certainly sounded great to me. It's not dead but it's certainly not coming out any time soon.

Those 40fps magic modes are the sweet spot for me. Playing Spiderman 2 atm and it's great on that.
Shame about the multiplayer, the first one had a good loyal following.

Yes, but I played last on PS4. With the increased visuals I'm just waiting to see if it does hold the 60 fps. I'm pretty sure it will but just watching my pennies. It is just another price gouge tbh.

Considering it's a £10 upgrade (confirmed now so the luck we had in the UK for Spidey being a fiver isn't happening again) it's a bargain rather than a price gouge. I just wish I had bought the digital version when it had been 9 quid several times on PSN so I could leave the disc in my disc holder, I maybe being a bit lazy...

I started it again recently. I prefer it to the first one but because I'd just come off the back of the first one I was a bit fatigued to stay in that world. I still think it looks and runs beautifully on PS5 so normally I wouldn't see the point. However. A tenner for a new mode isn't the worst thing in the world. It's about the price of DLC, and it effectively IS DLC, plus it's going to look even better than it did before so... Yeah. I'm in.
