So I'm playing Hotline Miami 2 and I'm up to that BS prison basketball court level.
Pretty sure they have made it harder now, lucky if I manage to avoid thy guys charge once before he kills me. Pretty much ended my enjoyment. (Completed the original release).
Dice King in Cuphead. Was over a year before I decided to install the game and give it another go before finally beating him.

i never played hotline miami 2 because I'd reached that point about midway through hotline miami 1. I simply can no longer source the high quality amphetamines necessary to complete that game

Seems like a cheat to say all the most difficult Souls bosses have made me quit at some point. I think some bullshit in Metro Exodus essentially trapped me to stay in the boss encounter in the first area with next to no health and a horde of enemies including a big armored guy walking towards me and I had no real avenue to escape. Trek to Yomi as well, I remember checkpointing being so bad, having to quit after fighting multiple spongey enemies that wouldnt die.

Black Mesa. What seems to be endless running through a giant intestine factory and meat conveyer belt has really made me end up hating what was otherwise a decent game. I know I'm probably near the end now, but fuck off, game.

True Corrupted Monk in Sekiro. I'd beaten everything up to that so-close-to-the-end boss outside Fountainhead Palace when, on my 6th or 7th or 15th attempt I realised I just wasn't enjoying the game and was, in fact, finding it to be a massive chore. So I just quit.
It bugs me to this day, though, especially as it's the only Soulsborne / Souls-adjacent game I haven't finished. One day I'll go back to it but I guess I'll need to start again because fucked knows if I can remember how to play that game.

The first zombie in the System Shock 2 demo who crept up and hit me in the back of the head while I was looking through a box of stuff. Had no idea what I was playing at the time and it made me jump so bad I threw the disc away

Far Cry 4:- Cutscene - Player stumbles out of cutscene - "You are leaving the mission area" - "Yeah, yeah whatever" - "Mission failed" - Watches cutscene again - "How can I skip that again?!?" - Esc, Enter, Space..... Alt-F4 - Uninstalls game.

Super Meat Boy made me realise I just don’t like platformers. About the 4th or 5th level, I could see exactly what I needed to do, figured I’d get there with practice, but after just a few fails I went “actuallly, I’m not enjoying this, this isn’t the kind of challenge I like” and switched it off.
Until then I’d blithely assumed that if a game reviews well, it must be worth checking out regardless of genre. I’m more discerning now (/slinks off to buy the next Ubisoft map barf game the moment it’s on sale because I’m a sucker)

Capra Demon.
I came back years later, progressed past him and made it a lot further into the game, but I’ve still never beaten him without help.
There is nothing about this fight that isn’t ridiculously cheap and unfair. It’s early in the game and you have to beat him to progress, so you’re underpowered. The fact you have to fight him in a room the size of a shoebox. The dogs (OMG the dogs!)

Mostly happens when immersion breaks, I could be looking at a sky box, a bad weather effect or hit an invisible wall or the edge of the game world.
I didn't finish Witcher 3, because I hit the edge of the map and it auto turned me around with him saying something like "that's an adventure for another time".

Manhunt - got to the bit where you chase Ramirez through a building while his Wardogs try gun you down. Found an exploit that allowed me to sneak up on him and blow his head off with a shotgun. Worked like a charm and the game crashed. Reloaded, tried it again, game crashed. Tried the regular way, game crashed. Three times a charm - straight to the second hand shop.
Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu - timed battles. Fuck off.
GTA V - sorry, just didn’t like it. Torture scene was the last straw.
Alien Isolation - hung around too long trying to find the switch for the train right at the start. Alien jump scare made me shit myself. Done.
Unpacking - last level. Fuck off, I’m not unloading all that shit.

Street Fighter something on 360 (IV maybe?) got to the last fight in arcade mode and just couldn't do it as the AI seemed like an input-reading cheating motherfucker. Tried about 50 times before binning it off and going to the pub
Must've tried again when I got back from the pub pissed and rage quit as I found the game disc snapped in half in the bin the next day

A weird one but I was playing a Tiger Woods game and was getting quite good at it, was scoring between 10 and 20 under par each rounds, eagles, holes in ones, albatrosses etc
Then suddenly everything switched and it was literally impossible to put a drive in play, every hole was a pick up and I was scoring 180+ each round
Never seen anything like it before or since, had to quit the game and never play it again
