I’m enjoying this more than any of the other Marios of the last few years. No idea why but something about it not being too hard helps.

Got some mopping up to do on Kirby, so that’ll keep me from buying this too soon. Also got a physical copy of Red Dead in the shopping basket for £35, so very tempted to nab that. Don't sleep on it too long it's absolutely brilliant!

Impressive..
Think I might have to get it next month. No point waiting for a sale cause it's a Nintendo game.

Is this suitable for a 5 year old? Need to think of something for the wifes nephew.

The talking flowers could have been so easy to screw up, but they are kind of alright.

I really like the talking flowers. That voice actor did a great job!

Finished this last night. So damn good. Need to finish off the special area and mop up the rest of the seeds.

I think you’re supposed to take care of the special area before finishing. Certainly before you start mopping.

My five year old is only starting and jumping and moving at the same time are a huge challenge

Have they seen a doctor about that?
As for Mario, there are co-op modes where one person can’t really fail, and if they can’t do it now then they improve fast over the next year or two. I’m still disappointed at how inept my kids are at games.

I’m only 3 levels in, so very early days, but this is already an amazingly cute game. I’ve managed to help teach somebody they can jump on those nut projectiles to reach coins and I’ve revived players on both the 2nd and third levels and had folk waiting by the flags.
I’m sure it might get more challenging, but for now I am going to try and assist every ghost player I can. Super Mario Assist!

I just found out you can give your spare items to other players too! And I showed a bunch of players how to wall jump to a secret area.
I have found my purpose in life! For the next two weeks, probably.

It’s a nice palette cleanser if you’re playing something less cheerful like Alan Wake 2.

You’re right… whenever I wake up Alan with a “lets-a-go” he always looks less than cheerful about the matter 😆

Is it the rumble in the Joy Con that makes it sound like there’s a speaker in them, or is there a speaker in them? Whenever I touch a blue strip on the wall jump level my Joy Con makes a proper noise. Like, not one that sounds like a vibration, but an actual noise.

It’s a weight that moves inside a coil, so in a way it is speaker, just a very crappy one without a diaphragm.

Listen carefully when you walk over the note blocks. You can hear it best when playing docked.

This bloody wall jump 2 challenge. Get to the top then can’t suss how to get the distance. And fall all the way to the bottom.

I don’t know if I’ve done that yet, but I presume sprinting and mashing the R button in the air isn’t enough to suffice?

Rolled credits on this the other day and was surprised to see a whole bunch of levels that I hadn't uncovered. Even had a couple in the opening world. Not touched the star world yet either and have quite a few of the badges still to get (only the aids and the expert ones), so still plenty to do.
Definitely a step up on the New games, although I didn't mind those. Some of the wonder power moments were quite fleeting and I could have had more time with them, but I guess it is better to leave you wanting more.
Overall, pretty great game.

I also missed a bunch of levels in the first world. I found out when mopping up all the levels I skipped (I thought I only skipped the KO arena levels...). In each world you'll get a notification (and purple coins) when you've found all the wonder seeds. It also shows on the line at the top if you got them all.
I got all the flagpoles, wonder seeds and large purple coins in all the worlds now (apart from the Bowser level). Managed to do three of the extra worlds levels. Those really do ramp up the difficulty.
This is sooo much better than the NSMB games.

Much better, I got to the final challenge but it's an extra life hoover.
It's very challenging and I'm not sure I'll finish it. I think I probably could if I spent long enough at it but not sure that I will.
Otherwise a really good 2D mario. Almost good enough to earn a place on the "proper Mario" list and some "3D" games don't make that list
