I couldn’t be bothered to sign up in the end but people are getting in now and impressions are overwhelmingly positive. Heard multiple people say they can’t really go back to 2020 even from the Alpha, it’s that good.

I’m in but VR isn’t enabled yet so only did a short flight around Brussels and lost all interest. Can’t go back to 2D flying.

I had a quick dip in but made the mistake of going for the recommended ultra settings then cranked DLSS up to performance, but it turned into a slideshow as soon as I got airborne. It'll definitely need a lot of tweaking.

Had a quick zoom around my local airport and my area. Lots still missing in terms of content, there's hardly any aircraft available (presumably they'll be dropping over the next few hours/days) and I constantly get "placeholder label" in the UI, but the performance is fantastic. Way more accomplished than 2020 was at launch. Will give career mode a try later.

Finally got in, switched to VR (which is all I really care about) and it instantly crashed to desktop. Pimax headset too, which is their “recommended” hardware.

Not sure why I expected more of them after the nightmare that was FS2020 at launch...
They do love fucking you over when you're waiting. FS2020 had an uncapped framerate IIRC on the downloading screen at launch so my GPU was going nuts. Now I'm in 2024 and I've got a retina burning queue screen.

Heh, I gave up last night, but they have posted a please understand type video. Tested their servers with 200.000 simulated users apparently, which seems low, seeing how it’s on gamepass.

Yeah, it downloaded the ‘shell’ fairly quickly but then got stuck in a queue with no way to exit gracefully :/

I’m in! Odd that it uses my eye-tracker on the globe. Need to turn that off. Think it’s overestimated my PC as it’s defaulted me to High at 4k.

Tried the Series X version and due to my 30mb connection it likes like shit.
Is there an option to install everything and stream some assets like 2020 version? If not it’s time to uninstall it.

I got through it for the first time today and got a crash to desktop in plane select and when hitting fly now, furthest I got so far. I did reset my broadband before it worked the first time.

Sorry to hear about your struggles I love it! Took another flight around the local area: the lighting is so much more realistic; the fields are ploughed; the trees are bare. The GA experience has all the little bumps and feedback that make it more interesting to play. The default MS planes seem much more fully-featured: took the XCub out and ended up going almost sideways after giving it too much on welly on takeoff. |
