I’d prefer a port of Chinatown wars, personally. still the best GTA game imo

Or AI Shark worked out a cracking way to get some publicity... I can't really imagine they are particular high on the list of companies that Nintendo feel the need to be kept in the loop with their secret plans. Having said, I expect around that time is quite likely. September/October feels a good time to get both a launch hype rush of purchases, followed by Christmas to keep the numbers going. They have since said it's just them guessing.

I think it’s a realistic guess, and if they start promoting this thing 6 months before launch we should see something rather soonish. Looking forward to whatever unrealistic rooftop party scenario they come up with in the reveal.

I didn’t get to recreate 2 on 2 basketball, but I did manage 2 on 2 Rocket League with 2 consoles at a gaming bar. That was actually great fun.
Until drinks started getting knocked about…

My dog loves it when I play my switch on a bench at the park.

Interesting. If they are both handheld then hopefully one has an OLED screen. I'm too much of a wanker to go back to LCD.

An interesting take. I know a number of folk who eventually sold their lite for the docking capability of the standard model, but I presume Nintendo has data that says otherwise!

Saying that, the lite is perfect for kids etc. or if you travel a lot which I was doing a few years back.

We are a strictly portable household. The girl never docks hers and I don't really miss not being able to on my lite. Would definitely be different if it was my 'main' console but I only really play metroidvanias and roguelikes on it so its fine for that, but she has put 100s of hours on hers and the dock sits in her bedroom, gathering dust.
The dock used to sit in the front room and we played Mario kart a bit but, ultimately, it was just sucking up an HDMI port.

Never bothered to dock my Switch except for during lockdown when I used it for Ring Fit. I'm not even sure where the dock is.

I converted from the lite to oled. I really enjoy having the option of handheld or docked. Probably 60-40 split from handheld to TV. Most if not all of zelda TOTK was on the big TV.

Pretty much only play it docked, but I do recall seeing stats that a large group of players basically only use it undocked. Not sure how successful the Lite is, but I would expect there is a big market for people willing to lose the docking ability for a cheaper price tag. Not sure if that would be at launch, but I'm a sure Switch 2 Lite is inevitable.
Maybe Nintendo will have two SKUs with different power at launch, but I think it is unlikely. Microsoft obviously went with that approach and sounds like the S was pretty successful in terms of sales numbers, but I think I've seen grumbling about it from developers, as it was holding them back. Having two SKUs, particularly at launch, just seems unnecessarily complicating things and I would expect Nintendo to go down the route of having a Lite after a year or two and maybe a Pro version another year or two after that, as they did with original Switch.
Didn't watch the video the article references, but I wouldn't be surprised if the power levels of around the PS4 the article mentions would be about right. Steam Deck is about that level and I wouldn't expect a new Switch to be much different from that.

Whatever they do I hope they build controllers from something other than wet tissues.

Have started playing more undocked recently but having the option to put it on the telly isn't something I'd want to give up tbh. Xenoblade, BotW/TotK, Pokemon, the Warriors games... There's plenty of games that benefit from the big screen, plus it's easier for DadFE and I to play together that way Whatever they do I hope they build controllers from something other than wet tissues. I can only guess this is Joycon trouble, my Pro controller is going strong even after almost seven years of it being pretty much in constant use when I play...

The lite is actually a really decent bit of kit. It’s thin, nice and ergonomic. It’s what you’d want if you’re giving up the dock for portability.

I was playing Fire Emblem Three Houses when I had mine and the text was tiny. It was fine for things like Mario. It's unlikely I'd ever actually take a handheld with me anywhere, so even if I never played it docked, I'd still rather have the bigger screen

At this point, I don't really care about specs because experience has taught me that Nintendo will do whatever it works for them and for me its consoles are always second fiddle. However, if they intend to release two with different specs planned down the line, I'd like to know beforehand; I'd hate another Stem Deck situation where they introduced the OLED version just a year from release...

Yeah, don't think I've heard of any issues with the pro controller and stick drift. Mine is still trucking on like a champ and I'm on my third Switch now.

I very rarely dock my OLED. The Switch changed my gaming habits with handheld, which is why I bought a Steam Deck and a Portal.
They really need to sort out the ergonomics on the Switch 2, because without a grip, it's literally the most uncomfortable handheld for me. If no one has tried a Portal yet, it's probably the most comfortable handheld I've experienced. It has a great weight, and no discomfort from the controller.

I got the girl a nitro deck for xmas, you could give that a whirl. It makes it even bigger and look like a fisher price tablet but it is pretty comfy, the ergonomics are decent and it has Hall effect sticks so no drift. She had the split pad pro before which is great but it makes it the size of a cricket bat.

Yeah my mate raved about the nitro deck. I was tempted over Christmas when it was on offer. I should have said I use a skull & co grip, which makes it more into a Switch Pro controller.

I’m surprised nobody has modded a Wii U gamepad to house a Switch inside. That was a very comfortable controller for its size!

I got some stick drift on my Pro Controller after roughly 4 years use but all it needed was a clean with some tools off ebay that cost about 3 quid.

The lite would make a great second version if you have 2 kids and 1 tv, since only one would be able to play docked anyway.
My kids alternate between docked and handheld, though recently they've played more handheld. Personally, I only play on the tv.

Rumours massively ramping up of a reveal in March. Gotta say, I haven't been this excited for a console reveal/launch since the PS2... it feels like this is the first Nintendo console reveal coming off the back of a genuinely outstanding system since the SNES>N64>Gamecube (I know the Wii sold shitloads but ultimately it sucked apart from some first party, so I was kinda meh on the Wii U buildup).

Agreed and the fact that they've done what they've done with the hardware on the switch has me really intrigued to see what's next. If they can come even remotely close to what they're achieved on Switch we'll be very lucky indeed.

I'm less hyped than I might be if there weren't the Steam Deck and all the new clones from the usual PC hardware suspects. The right combo of launch titles, though, and I'll be shitting myself with glee. Really *really* hoping for some well targeted NVidia magic for upscaling, filtering, frame gen, or whatever.
