Having a hard time in the darker Pilgrim’s Perch section.
Cage heads are a menace, mages shooting across the map and I didn’t realise that any enemy who hits you whilst using the lamp drags you into Umbral. The last is cool actually
Made some progress, but lost a fair few souls too. I don’t think I’m too far from the blacksmith, so that’s the priority

Only a couple of sessions in so far. Reached (and managed to beat after more-than-I-care-to-mention tries) Pieta last night.
I'm not feeling it yet, mostly because I have trouble "seeing" the enemies when they are stationary (they blend into the scenery too much for my liking) and I cannot get my head around the Umbral world as a secondary explorable area (I'm sure I missed some early areas while reaching the hub). Also, the camera's FOV could use some tweaking, as I feel it's either too close for comfort or unable to keep up with bosses (Pieta's so far) movement.
Still early days and things could improve, however I settled right into Lies of P and the contrast with that game is huge for me...

The game asks a lot of you fairly early on tbh. I can only guess there’s a fairly steep drop off point. Took me a good few hours to get my head around it.

JonFE - I’m only a tiny bit ahead of you, but I’m doing a lot of suicide runs in Umbral for a good explore - so farm enemies a bit if you’re close to a level, then just have a good explore with nowt to lose. It does ask a lot of you and it can be shonky, but it’s very well done and copied lol on the whole I’ve made decent progress now and reached the next area. Loving it Edit - Pieta is a hell of a skill check, I found a summon helped a lot

I’m in a Fen and its ok
I don’t know what I’ve done to piss off one of the merchants at Skynet, but the Pilgrims Reach key is 18k now and I swear it was about half that t’other day.
Edit - dying a lot to the boss. Can’t get a rhythm going. Will try again later

It was patched, they made the area behind the door easier but doubled the cost. It might just have been to annoy speed runners, who were rushing to get the enhanced lump hammer. Which is a thing of beauty I might add.

Got up to Lvl 49 - had a bad time with stone face, but got him down in the end. Not looking forward to meeting these again though. Opened the door near the starting area but died to a fairy; not helped by the game deciding to lock on to the umbral door rather than the fairy attacking me. Getting nowhere with the Fen boss twat on horseback . The summons don't last a minute and his damage seems massive when ive only got 5 estus. Will keep trying Edit - I've binned the summons - they can't handle the horse and last seconds. I get the idea of the umbral parasites, but they take too long to pop and you're just a sitting duck. The murk and gloom don't help. I'll stop moaning when he's down, but only got him halfway at best, so meh |

Ignore the umbral things, it's mostly just dodge and hit. I found the Pyro lady did okay, but really it's just learning his attack patterns. Blocking is always an option if in doubt.

The Hushed Saint is continuing to grip my shit.
I’m getting closer, but there’s some attacks I just can’t seem to dodge and if he procs frostbite when you need every drop of endurance & stamina it’s tough.
Got my weapon up to +6, but this is a dodge & hit patience fight; which isn’t me.
Will try again later obvs

Yeah it is a fight you've just got to be patient for unfortunately. Everything is avoidable but it's a tough battle. Him and Pieta took me the most goes I reckon. I did really enjoy the fight tbh so I didn't mind.

Finally managed to kill Hushed Saint it wasn’t bad at the end, still had a couple of heals left, it just clicked
Made progress into the Gorge and killed both bosses there. My Paladin Isaac sword is +6, dual wielding Pieta’s at +5 (it’s only halfway now after patch)
Really enjoying it still

Silly question: some enemies have a blue health bar, indicating that some kind of Umbral parasite is buffing them. Which is the correct way to dispose that? Point your lantern at them and... what?

My God taking two weeks off and then getting back into it - or trying to - is an exercise in frustration. I seem to be weaker, certainly shitter, than I was before.
I've given up on The Hushed Saint for now and ended up doing a trial and error run through a Pilgrim's Perch Key area. I died. A lot. At least I found the Vestige of Dieter, which was a bloody relief. And I did kill The Sacred Resonance of Tenacity, who was to be honest a piece of piss.
Question: why are they naming bosses as if they are shit metal albums?

I’ve reached Calrath and met another mini-boss that took a few tries. Having to pop four of those cum sacs whilst getting spam fire-ball stun locked wasn’t quite the fun experience I had in mind
As a melee, I’m not looking forward to meeting those again. Also , fuck gargoyles and those fuckers with the grenade mortars.

Pretty sure I just ignored the sacs and shot her face in with my bow. You can blat her faster than her health can regen. Have you got a decent bow yet? What build are you? If you're agility you should be levelling a bow. If strength then crossbow. If neither then lob stuff at her.

wunty - I’m a split strength/radiance Paladin, so I dual wield swords with a catalyst for sniping distant enemies. I’m only 8 Agility, so haven’t bothered with a bow on this character; I’ll save that for another one. She’s down & done but I get the impression she’s going to be a regular enemy from now on, like the stony faces

Yeah. Basically secondary bosses (that there are no NPC summons for, and it says "Sinner Judged" when you kill them) are all essentially introductions to new harder regular enemies. So yes. I'm afraid you'll meet her buddies again. Only the colossal bosses (Heresy Purged) are one offs.
