I've done a few more bosses and lost 13000 vigor at one point, not my greatest moment.
It's still fairly average but moreish at the same time. Every time you are not sure where to go, something usually pops up.
I can't quite put my finger on it but the world just doesn't have a great sense of place, although it is all kind of linked.

I'm resorting to looking up where to find saintly quintessence to upgrade my healing jobby. All the upgrades are hidden away in secret or hard to reach areas in Umbral, which - to be honest - means it's a fucking mission trying to find them when you're trying to get through an area in the first place, let alone explore in Umbral. I don't even feel bad. I do love the Umbral stuff though, just wish important upgrades like that were a bit more obvious in their placement
In other news there is a new PC patch out and consoles should be brought up to parity around Thursday. Notably enemy numbers are being twaeked, as well as how long they follow you through levels. Some interesting NG+ changes too and some performance tweaks.
I still love it.

Just received it, is installing on XSX as I type this and I'm contemplating whether I should start it tonight or wait for a couple of days for the new patch to drop; still have Death's Door to beat (ironically I'm facing the Lord of Doors atm), so it's not like an urgent need to play it - then, again, I was always a sucker for the new and shiny...
Maybe I'll wait for JuniorFE to join me, as he is the one who keeps track of all the important stuff as I wack baddies on the head with a big stick

You may want to wait till later in the week? See if one of those patches drops? Xbox is worst in terms of performance just now still I think.

Sure thing, Lord of the Doors will probably take some time, since he's running around like a headless chicken throwing bull-shaped doors at me!!!

If you’ve got the App on your phone just search for it and it will give you the option to pre install it, so when you get the disc it’s ready to okay with no install needed.

Don't know what they did wth that last patch, but enemies in some areas seem to have lost 3/4 of their frames. It's like fighting a flipbook. Very odd.
Despite that, still loving it. Three beacons down and my sword is maxed out at +10 now. En route to beacon number four. My assassin's bow seems a bit OP as well, it's +9 and with wither arrows absolutely destroys most things, including bosses.
I had hoped to finish it before AW2 drops on Friday but it's not looking likely. It's too big, and I don't actually want to stop playing it, despite the performance sometimes taking the piss.

I think I have 2 beacons down, and I may actually have lost track of how many routes I have available to me.
Despite being (nominally) an Orian Preacher, I whacked the 'remove weight and stat requirements ' rune into one of the great swords, and despite it being super slow you can basically stun-lock a lot of enemies.

Not that I'm aware of, should be easy enough though. 'fontgeek' seems reasonable.

Wasn’t feeling it, so started again with the Dark Crusader class - feels a lot better and even managed to kill that fire arrow spam knight wankchops near the starting area. Still not pulling off the soul flay ledge throws, but the axiom/umbral stuff is really starting to click and this class seems a lot less squishy.
Enjoying it

Just hold the left stick to the side when you soul flay.

Think I'm approaching the end. At Bramis Castle now. The only complaint I have with this game is the performance. Even then it's better than it was. My main gripe is assets keep appearing and disappearing, like bits of walls, or pots. Did the whole Fief of the Chill Curse the other day which is a fucking amazing area except half the trees flickering about. I hope they sort all this. Regardless though, I genuinely think it's going to be one of my GOATs. I know others are less keen on it but I feel like it was made for me. The level design is amazing, the boss battles epic, tough but fair. The combat feels fantastic. My enthusiasm hasn't diminished even a little from when I started it and my PS tells me I'm 45 hours in now.

Yeah, finished it last night, went into NG+ just for a bit I'm tempted to roll an archer and just snipe everything, some of the projectiles are hilarious. Ehanced poison javelin, followed by the enhanced lump hammer is just amazing.

Stumbled into the Pieta fight whilst minding my own business and got absolutely destroyed. Had a few more goes with pathetic results and then realised you can summon for it, so managed it by the absolute skin of my teeth.
Reached the Hub and then died trying to jump to a spinning platform and falling This is really good and the umbral stuff is very well done. It’s copying Souls and I’ve no clue what most of the merchant stuff is or what I’m supposed to be doing, but that’s fine

Finished this morning. Staying in this current game cycle so I can mooch about and see what I've missed. I've fucked up most questlines though, but that's for a re-roll. Or I'll do them with my current char by either doing NG+ or NG0 (nice it gives you that option). 55 hours or thereabouts for this initial playthrough.
I've gushed about this game a lot. My enthusiasm and love for it didn't diminish once and I enjoyed the last few hours as much as I did the first. It's a fucking brilliant game imo and the world they created is stunning and interconnected in a way I haven't seen since Dark Souls 1. Genuinely my only gripes are performance and graphical issues. Everything else just hit the spot for me. I've said before it's like they made a game specifically for me. Damn. I really didn't expect it to be this good. Bonus points for a reprisal of the original game's opening theme over the end credits (say what you like about the original, but the theme was great).

Made a bit more progress and killed Delyth, once I’d found her parasite. I need to get better with the Soul throw move on those bastards with the spiked head cages, but it’ll come eventually I need a better ranged option and the pouches empty in no time. I’ve no problem in Soulslikes of chilling in the cheap seats and sniping from afar, but that isn’t an option here. Might need a guide, how are you supposed to know that the mute prisoner needs an obscure hidden item from somewhere else?
Still loving it , though it needs more patching

For what it's worth, your ammunition capacity goes up every 2-3 levels that you put into vitality / endurance. You can also find ammo pouches all over the place, in the world, as drops and in shops.
Some of the thrown weapons also have insane range - the javelins in particular can be thrown from absolutely miles away. There is also a headshot bonus if you're a good enough shot (I'm not).

Yeah, plus you can buy pouches and later bigger pouches from the blacksmith once you've unlocked her. By the end of the game I was basically killing bosses with my bow and not even bothering with melee. I was doing 1200 - 1400 damage per charged shot. So if you are a coward like me, ranged is a bona fide option. It's great.

THe spiked head cage bastards are tough for this early on. Do what you can to get past them. Soul-flay off the edge, run past them, kite them somewhere that you can THEN run past them. It's all good. I still don't like fighting them one on one. There are about 7 or 8 similarly hard hitting enemies - some of whom get their own boss fight intro - that I always avoided fighting if I could.
