I find I’m just firing off the various moves and gadgets fairly randomly. Maybe that’ll change as I get used to it more but again it threw so much at me so quickly I didn’t spend much time getting to know each new trick individually.

Yeah and I'd argue you absolutely do need to manage the skills if you want to pull off the Spider-Manny combos and style I'm on about. The cooldowns dictate when you can use them so there's a definite need to hold back if you want to chain things together with satisfaction.
Obviously you can just spam stuff and get through the game but I'm more grumbling that the power fantasy isn't as simple as I'd like. I'm basically moaning that I'm probably past it.

FWIW my 11 year old is grumbling about the same thing. And the new health mechanic.

As you unlock and upgrade everything it all becomes a lot easier.

Seems like there’s a lot less stealth this time around too. I keep forgetting Miles has invisibility.

FWIW my 11 year old is grumbling about the same thing. And the new health mechanic. Yeah, that was an "interesting" choice to limit how you can heal. It almost seems like a response to the original being seen as an easy game and I've really noticed how stuff hits hard even on normal difficulty and there are far, far more enemies at play at one time. I like it a lot and I still have the muscle memory from the previous games but I'm constantly pressing the heal button not realising I haven't filled up the meter.

I find it a bit annoying having to choose between an instant kill or having a heal ready to go. Haven't looked through the upgrades properly yet, but hopefully you get additional slots to mitigate that a bit.
It's bloody great so far. The fairground at night is a real showcase of how lovely it can look.

The bit with the portals was absolutely brilliant.

I just got there for a side mission, Coney Island that is, but I'm going to park it for a bit to get ready for the rugby. How is everyone distributing their points and mechanical parts? The game keeps throwing at things for you to unlock but I want to have shiny new suits AND gadgets AND ability improvements.

The game seems to throw parts at you pretty quickly, I just bought a few suits I fancied and then focussed on suit tech and gadgets and will stick with that until they're maxed.
Just got the second focus slot, so at least that's one quibble taken care of.

A very small improvement over the first games is not having to mash the bloody pad when you're stopping a car, Pete or Miles just do it themselves, hurrah.

Had a dead weekend without the wife so just polished off the main story. Great game, but felt oddly paced at times. And for a game that’s supposed to be about teamwork I barely spent any time as Miles, really. Lots of plot threads that are there for setup for Spidey 3 left it all feeling a bit bad parts of MCU at times. But the core gameplay is terrific, and much like the other 2 games this will probably be a rare title I’ll go back and 100%.

Ploughed through for the Platinum last night anyway. 17 hours in total. The spider bots were the most annoying part as they don’t show up anywhere on the map, but the payoff for them was well worth it.
Think I prefer the suits from 1 overall though. There’s some cool ones here but still nothing that matches the Animated suit for my liking.

A lot of people have voiced a bit of displeasure at how short it seems compared to Spider-Man 1 but honestly, it suits me down to the ground that it isn't going to take me weeks of an hour here and there to get through it. Give me 15 focused hours over 30 full of bloat any day.

Just checked on how long to beat and it says 17 hours for Spiderman 1 so about the same as 2. I certainly don't remember it being a long game

Really the game is as long as you want it to be, I just enjoy swinging around and exploring the city sometimes without even doing a mission, it's the rare type of open world game that I never use fast travel because the act of getting somewhere is incredibly enjoyable. It's also a game I definitely do NG+ in, I did it for all the other ones.

My wife says my super-power is being able to suck the dignity out of anything.
Unlike my whatever it is that causes me to not be able to tell my left from my right which is making reading the on screen prompts an absolute fucking nightmare.

Just doing these now before I finish off the story and bloody hell they're annoying! One missing in a couple of districts and I've crossed back and forth across the entire area and perched on every high building, but no sign of them. I might have to hit a guide at this rate.

Haven't got them all myself but some of them have been in the sky for me. I mistook them for those silly wind tunnel things at first.

Yeah, the air ones are a bit of a pain. Not too bad when you have the air jump and boost upgrades, though (which make wing suit traversal in general ridiculously OP) Got the last two now thankfully. One was somewhere I'd swung past last night without it triggering.

I think I had about 6 remaining for my plat clean-up and only one was tricky to find. They do appear on the mini-map so I found just sling-shotting to get high altitude and then sweeping the map with the web-wings was the most cost-effective method.

One of the most impressive tech feats is the fast travel feature. You can move across the map seamlessly in about 1.5 seconds, and it just spawns you mid swing/glide as though you'd got there manually.

I read in an article that they slowed this down , as initially it was as instant as a button press but for UX stuff they had to do a long button to ensure you weren't making a mistake. I tried out fast travel once and yeah, it's what I think of when I think "next gen".
