Very negative set up by Southgate and some poor choices.

After a promising first 10 minutes this has felt just like the bad old days.

Just so slow and predictable on the attack.

They had so many chances, really disappointing performance.

Southgate was always going to be happy with a draw. Glad I didn't watch and he annoys so much with his tactics.

I wonder how he’d feel about being the Geordie Robert Mancini

Booo. Mctominay scores, VAR says no. Light shove from hendry on their keeper apparently.

Something very, very strange about how that VAR call was handled, btw. Setting aside the actual question of whether it was or wasn't an infringement, something clearly went wrong with the usual protocols/signage used by the officials.
The ref is called to the monitor and, after having reviewed the incident, makes the sign that he's overruled the goal to award a (direct) free-kick for the alleged foul/obstruction by Hendry on the GK. That's seemingly confirmed by UEFA. John McGinn also states, after the match, that at the time the Ref had confirmed to the players that he'd awarded the foul.
Fifteen/twenty minutes later, a graphic is then put up via the host broadcaster indicating that it was actually an offside that had been awarded against Hendry -- who, though he didn't make any contact with the ball, was perceived to have obstructed the keeper. UEFA then seemingly updates its official line to confirm the offside call. But the Ref quite clearly did not award an offside at the time -- or, if he did, then he failed to adequately indicate that offside call and the resulting (indirect) free kick. Then he further compounded things by misleading the players (I understand he speaks fluent English). All very, very strange.
Meh. VAR is absolutely the pits, man. My wife actually said to me tonight, jokingly, that she couldn't remember the last time she'd heard me celebrate a goal without randomly shouting out "Is he onside?", "Has he given a foul", "Are they checking it?" etc. I laughed at that. Then realised it's not very funny at all. It's actually pretty fucking shit, and a fundamental change to the mindset of watching the game as a fan. Can't even begin to imagine the psychological toll it takes on the players. Don't think I could ever have imagined it feeling like such a weirdly regressive step in terms of the wider sporting experience.

Yep. It's ruined goals. Although I did celebrate Arsenal's winner on Sunday without even a thought for VAR, was quite refreshing. Previously, all it took was a glance at the lino.

No qualification tonight but home to Georgia should see right Away to Georgia. A different kettle of fish, going by history. If Norway drop points to Spain on Sunday, however, it's all done.

More dogshit from Ireland, not unexpected of course. 5 losses out of 6 games. Tricky fixture ahead in a few days away to Gibralter. And then France. Ho hum.

I’m starting to wonder if Southgate has a Saudi deal lined up for when he quits. I can totally see it and there’s really no other reason to die on this hill.

What’s his reaction meant to be though when questioned on the booing? Not sure there is a winning out, but happy to hear what they think he could have said that would have made everyone happy

I just assumed that Southgate "couldn't see the logic" in Henderson getting booed because he's a deeply dull, unimaginative man who can't understand that other people or situations might be complex.
But he did wear that nice jumper...

Playing 5 at the back is my biggest issue with Page. I was glad he changed things up for this game but he reverted to type once we went 2 up.

Wales beating Croatia without Bale or Ramsey with some decent young players in their side is excellent to see.
Although Croatia are probably getting past their best now
